For me it would have to be either dbt or maybe $iljanus with all those war game impressions.

I guess I can take this opportunity to recognize all of my wargaming buds on this board, such as dbt, Siljanus, Raydude, CSL, and Zekester among the many others. Since I see so many games months or years before they are out, however, I guess I'm more of an influencer than an influencee. In fact, one game I'm playing now is so incredible...oh, wait, that's right, I can't talk about it. The publisher refuses to be responsible for the militia force necessary to protect my house against wave after wave of rabid wargamers should word of it's presence ever leak.

I succumb to the overal OO forum effect occasionally, but that is more a general effect rather than a few individuals. I really appreciate those who take the time to writeup thoughtful impressions of new stuff, as well as older stuff I may have missed so I can snag a copy for the backlog shelf before it gets too hard to find.

Wow! I didn't know Duke Nukem Forever was going to be a hex-based wargame! Rock on!Jeff V wrote: In fact, one game I'm playing now is so incredible...oh, wait, that's right, I can't talk about it. Can't say. You might see some previews up by the end of the week, but not from me (I've been hired to write a strategy guide given my expertise on the subject).raydude wrote:You....damn influencer you! I need to know what game this is! At least point us to a preview link or something!

Zekester, for steering me to the few little-known titles I wasn't already aware of. I try and keep up on every single game that might interest me in the slightest, but Zeke's knowledge humbled me. And I trust his judgment. He hasn't let me down yet.

Geneforge 3 Mac beta just started. I'd pencil in a mid to late summer PC release. Also, you should check out Teudogar and the Alliance with Rome which is quirky but interesting. I haven't registered it, but I think I will when I get the means.Peacedog's at least partially responsible for me picking up quite a few old school Rpgs. (Geneforge, Helherron, etc.)
There are approximately seventeen billion jrpg-like games out there if you are into that sort of thing (I'm sure as hell not, but if you like I'll dig up some links I have lying around). I tend to ignore them, but Cry Havoc looks like Final Fantasy Tactics, which is intriguing I think.
I'd love to see both an FFT like game and an Advance Wars like game from a shareware guy on PC.
