SourceForge / PDFCreator -- it works!

Post by Kasey Chang »

I needed to generate some PDFfiles... but there's a special requirement:I need the PDF files to show CHINESE characters I typed in with TwinBridge system (http://www.twinbridge).

I've tried a couple of those "free" ones. Most are just slightly customized GPL stuff based on GhostScript. Most completely ignored the Chinese characters, while PrimoPDF at least managed to produce the smaller letters, but not the headlines.

Then I turn the the ORIGINAL source... PDFCreator on SourceForge, the project on which all derivatives were based.

And surprise! It generated ALL the Chinese characters I put in.

There's a weird part where regular words came out reversed (white on black) but at least the text is readable and rendered properly. And I didn't even have to load a Chinese environment (such as Twinbridge).

Those of you who need to generate PDF Files but don't want to pay $$$ for Acrobat should look into PDF Creator.

PDF Creator (which is good, yes) is also based on GhostScript.

Can PDF Creator also embed non-standard fonts (such as for other languages)?
