Having traveled daytime today, will this be an extended rest thru evening and day or extended march thru the night and rest tomorrow?

I suggest we rest tonight and let the injured recover.

If we are to rest through the night and tomorrow, I suggest we not spend that time idle. I propose we send a small scouting party around the area to ensure a safe campsite for such a long time, as well as scout out a path for the the next night's travel. I will volunteer, and I would welcome any company with more...wilderness familiarity.

Alpha Wagon is driven by Jerrod (Human) and is filled with Barrels.

Beta Wagon is driven by Derek (Human) and is filled with Long Wooden Boxes.

Charlie Wagon is driven by Yngma (Dwarf) and is filled with Netting wrapped around Small Boxes.

Sepha (Human) has her own Horse and rides alongside the Caravan.
Sepha suggests using the three wagons as three walls of a Campsite with the opening facing the road, allowing for three people to keep watch from a seated position in three directions.

None of the Caravan NPCs have any great ability in Wilderness, but Sepha knows the general terrain/local routes.

Are GrandMof and Hyena ok from the Heat?

Party Camp: Three wagons around central area, creating shade in center of wagons, open to the road.

Correct, I was not damaged by the heat.

Also, if it is not too late:

I think we should consider camping a...comfortable distance from the road so as not to attract unwanted attention. Far enough to see the road, but not so close as to be readily seen by someone unless they are looking for us.

I get dressed in my black adventuring outfit to prepare for scouting during the evening/night hours.

I am prepared when you are, friend. Lead the way and I will follow.

Consider the Campsite safe other than establishing a watch.

The scouting will be a collection of: Spot, Search, and Survival

Search - no result

Spot - you do see a small party camped about three miles from your current chosen campsite in the direction of your travel

Wilderness - you find ample Foraging and a Spring that runs parallel to the road.

As Hyena and myself get back to the wagons we gather everyone for a briefing.

Everyone, we have completed our search of the surrounding area and have found some interesting things. There is a small party camped out about 3 miles away from here. The only issue with this that I see is that they are camped in our path.

On a good note, we found a lot of food and a fresh water spring that runs along the road side. We'll need to have some plan on how to deal with this unknown group that is in our path.

Chaos - Since we found this spring would we be able to travel during the heat of the day if we stay close or in the spring as we go?

If we can use canvas, cloth and/or tents to create shade for the wagons and use the water, I think daytime movement should be resumed.

Does anyone need healing?

That sounds like a good plan when we get ready to move again but i think we should watch this other party for a short time to try and determine if they are hostile or not.

When we saw this party, could we tell what they were? Humans, Orcs, Goblins? How close did we get, and were we able to tell what they were doing?

Close enough to determine they were most likely Humans, with no discernible insignia or common uniform, and they were assembling tents and cooking.

Arthur will stay with the camp as his stealth abilities are about the same as a hurricane. Unless, of course, we attack something then he will tag along for support.

Despite our first encounter with people, I think we would quickly descend into true paranoia if we delay our duty for every party we see. That being said, we should be cautious and avoid contact with them if possible. They simply seemed to be doing the same thing we are.

I agree with Arthur: we pack up in the morning and move on at day break, considering we found a stream to help fight the heat.

I believe we stand as follows:
Jerrod = 5 nonlethal damage
Derek = 1 nonlethal damage
Sepha = 7 nonlethal damage

Kupa/coopasonic = 4 nonlethal damage
Arthur/Arnir = 4 nonlethal damage
Gideon/GrandMof = 3 nonlethal damage

Healing Nonlethal Damage
You heal nonlethal damage at the rate of 1 hit point per hour per character level.
When a spell or a magical power cures hit point damage, it also removes an equal amount of nonlethal damage.
Therefore without Magical Healing it will take 4 Hours (plenty of time to proceed as desired) before the entire party is recovered from the heat.

The evening passes without event. Your suffering from the heat is quickly healed. (restore all Lost HP due to Heat)

As it turns out, traveling by the water is a great way to beat the heat, with only minimal time lost for occasional breaks, you make great time. As the evening approaches you see a rather large tree near the bank in the distance. You may be able to reach it if you travel a little past dark.

I just had a mental image of Admiral Ackbar swinging around in that crazy chair of his. Either that or Tom Bombadil singing Old Man Willow into releasing the hobbits.

That tree could be a good place to rest, but I think we should scout it first. Perhaps one of our animal friends could go investigate?
