A bunch of us had one point less than you with a lock left, so I wouldn't celebrate yet.GuidoTKP wrote:If Mr. Lem picked the Pats I think this means I won the pool. I lose out on a bunch of tie-breakers, so I don't think I'll be in the money though.

6-way tie for first! I think I'm going to go whip myself for locking the Colts rather than saving my last lock. UGH.

ARRRRRRRRRRRGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Too funny. You should have updated the locks for the people behind me!!!!!
Oh well. Glad I didn't know, I probably would have picked the Patriots if I'd known everyone could pull even with an upset pick.

Hey, that's pretty good!Captain Caveman wrote:BACK TO BACK SILVERS BABY!
Congrats to the Meal. He owns this thing year to year.

Hee hee hee. I wish I could claim some sort of devious master plan, but honestly I wouldn't have ever have picked the football Giants in either the Conference Championship or the Superbowl unless I had put myself in a bad spot.Zaxxon wrote:Yeah--that was quite devious Neal. Suck it up to begin with only so you could dramatically win both EoS Surge and 1st place!
I'm happy that I finished so well in the regular season (to get the all important tie breaker positioning), and really happy with my decisions to save my locks until the final weeks of the playoffs to allow myself the best flexibility in positioning myself against the other folks I was picking against. But as much as I'd like to claim some sort of superior strategy, I do have to give the nod for the nice run the Giants made -- of the four winners from the Wild Card weekend I thought they were the least likely to make it to the Super Bowl, let alone win the darn thing. I'm sure they made some other down-on-their-luck, needing-the-underdog-to-perform gamblers a lot more dough than yours truly.
Back to back feels pretty good.
Thanks for another great season Zax. While I had trepidation about the rule change to give away a token amount for the end-of-season surge this year, I'm still really happy with how the pool is set up and especially with how you run things. Thanks again for your time, energy, and enthusiasm.

I'd be curious to hear everyone's opinion on the future of the EoS Surge. My original intent in adding it was to try to prevent people from dropping out early. That pretty much failed, so I'd lean toward killing the EoS in future years in favor of adding back to the 3rd place finisher. I'm happy to keep it if people like the idea, though. The Meal wrote:Thanks for another great season Zax. Thanks for the thanks, and congrats to both you and CC for ridiculous finishes 2 years in a row. I think I owe you a 1099 at this point, Neal...

I thought the EoS Surge was fun even though I wasn't involved in it as that was the time I started to suck hard.
Still, I wouldn't care if it was gone.

I'm kicking myself for not picking the giants and making the attempt to win the pool instead of hoping to coast into third.

I lean towards 86ing it, myself. If it didn't keep folks involved, it doesn't seem to make sense to take $$ away from folks who've had to accomplish more strategic/sustained prognostications (even if its a token amount). I wouldn't die on this hill, however, if the majority of folks really seemed to like it.Zaxxon wrote:I'd be curious to hear everyone's opinion on the future of the EoS Surge. Subpar season hurt me in the end but it was fun. Thanks for the great pool Zaxxon. Doesn't really matter to me about the EoS Surge as i tend to play all my pools to the end no matter the standings.
It was nice to see Manning admit that he just chucked it up there on the play. That was some great catch to pull it in.
