Not a single flake, but enough dreams of it snowing, me trying to go to work anyway, and wrecking my car into the center barricades of the freeway.

SUNUVA!!!!

Since I've been in charge of purchasing for computer stuff, I've managed to start standardizing. But one guy went to his manager and cried and got his special lighter machine that he just had to have. Now one week later he's crying to me that it has not PCMCIA slot and he needs a 2nd machine so he can continue working with the equipment that is used via PCMCIA.

I am so fucking pissed right now.

He chose that hill to die on and now I'm still gonna take shit over stuff I had no idea about. :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund: :grund:

When I was a kid libraries had a Reference Desk. One could call the Reference Desk with any question, and someone there would look up the answer for you. It might take hours or days, but you'd get your answer. I used to think that was about the coolest job in the world, and wanted to be a reference librarian when I grew up.

If you think you drive they same way in winter that you do on regular surfaces you need to stay the fuck off the roads.

Fucking last minute mergers on exits that have obviously turned to black ice? How fucking stupid are you?

If you need to drive in the lane full of snow on the expressway then you don't get to hug the lines in the road where they least amount of snow is.

Did you know that the verb "to shovel" dates back to the 1400's?

Yes, because I watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail and they were talking about shoveling shit.

Motorists who hit bicyclists should go to jail. I have a cousin clinging to life because a garbage truck couldn't slow down and wait to pass her. She's had over 30 units of whole blood due to internal bleeding from a crushed pelvis and 7 broken ribs, and a broken knee, and arm. The person responsible should be losing his job, and his license, and possibly his testicles for a minimum of 5 years. I'm drinking and PISSED. I'm trying to keep this SFW. Continue with your funny stuff. Nothing to see here.
People suck.

I don't think you need to dice suckatude up into little groups of "clients" or "mean people"... it saves you a lot of effort just to put the whole human race into one big ball of suck. - Mr Sparkle

A friend from high school got killed while biking and although we were never close and had drifted apart it still hit me hard. I can not imagine having a loved one placed in similar danger. From your comment about the truck not waiting to pass her I assume she was doing the right thing and following traffic rules. The bikers around here that ride head on towards traffic on a no shoulder road piss me off because they are just begging to be ended messily and making things harder on bikers that are responsible by giving bikers a bad name and reputation.

Hope your cousin recovers fully.

I hear interesting things about the strip clubs down your way. You owe it to us to confirm the rumors then.

Is there a secret to removing the foil from a yogurt top without having a drop or two of yogurt jump onto your clothing? I seem to fail my yogurt opening skill check every time I peel back one of those foil tops. I assume I am alone in this and that there is conspiracy afoot as I also assume there are millions of little cups of yogurt opened every single day and yet there is a distinct lack of clothing spoiling outrage of over yogurt's containerization methods out there.

And speaking of yogurt and other sludgey substances containerization. Single serve containers need to learn from bowls. We need to minimize the amount of food that touches surfaces in general. If you tell me a serving is one container, dammit I'm scheduling those calories and I want as much of the food in there as possible. The more of my food that is sticking to a container wall the less I of those calories I am likely to consume. So I end up looking like Oliver trying to scrape everything of the sides of the container or turning into a dog and licking the plate.

That's not so bad in itself mind you. I like the idea of not wasting food. That's goes a long way toward how I got fat in in first place. But I'm already that guy enough in my life. I don't need to be the guy with yogurt stained clothes who scraps at containers and licks plates, even scraping and licking is the sign of being conscious and respectful of the maintenance of one's environment.

The other end of the spectrum is if you don't get enough sludge off the container walls and floor then you become a wasteful douche. You get toward the bottom of a jar of peanut butter or miracle whip and if you aren't scraping the sides before throwing that can away or spending an hour and gallons water washing it in preparation for recycling then you've got more dollars than sense.

And how about a knife that makes it easy to scrape and accumulate sludge in the bottom of a container? Is it that hard to make a spreader that is also an accumulator? Come on. We can almost get a man to the moon again. We can make a way for me to get the last couple of sandwich condiment out of that jar.

Yeah, Ironrod, another what I had for lunch post.

you like to do it in groups... kinky, but I'm willing to bet Jeff V will be willing to try it at least once.

wot?

To be fair, adolescent power fantasy tripe is way easier to write than absurd existential horror, and every community has got to start somewhere... right?

Indeed I agree!
I have never had a serious accident, but I have been run ff the road several times, been shot with a pellet gun, and had various things thrown at me while riding my bicycle.
I always follow all traffic laws, even using hand signals that no one under the age of 60 even remembers.
I have lights, a helmet, reflective clothing, the works.

Bicyclists who flaunt the rules piss me off as well, they give all of us a bad name.

I am well aware of what will happen to me in a colission with a car, so I pay very close attention to the folks around me,
but I know that someday I will get hit, its inevitable, and I hope that I survive it and fully recover. Freaking SUV texting dvd watching arrogant SOB's.

One of the owners of my company just had a massive stripper pole delivered to the office (he works out of his home). It's the 2nd pole we've received in 2 weeks. Watching our Admin try to figure out what to do with it is pretty humorous.

Apparently I need a vacation. I was walking to lunch with two of my coworkers, explaining I would be attending a workshop in Thousand Islands.

 Thousand Oaks

I feel like such a doofus. Thankfully they know me well enough to laugh it off and pretend I never said it.

This is what passes for a embarrassing event in your office? Until you're pooping in a cardboard box in the data center, I wouldn't worry about it.

But seriously, my co-workers and I would barely notice something like that. Oops, I meant oaks, not islands. Yeah, we assumed, finish your story/point.
