No more MMORPG's for Me- But I'm Bored

Post by Poleaxe »

Not much to say really. I've given up MMOG's because they were sucking away time I didn't really have. Unfortunately, the lack of AAA titles in the beginning of the year now has me actually reading books again.

But I want the juice. I need the juice. Normally I would spend this time mindless leveling, but alas...

On the other hand, I'm 240 pages into the complete works of Scherlock Holmes.

Have you tried that Morrowind plugin compilation? Pretend you're in a MMORPG where you can not only attack NPCs, there's no respawn timer!

Unfortunately, the compilation was being put together after I had already played MW twice. But oblivion sure as hell can't come fast enough.

I have already done Morrowind one and a half times. I was playing yesterday with all those pluggins and I was on the exterior, just outside of Balmora. I thought: " easy place... lets get those funging mushrooms and get back fast over that mountain". I see 3 little big monsters (I have giands installed) so here I goooo. But I look at my life bar and WFT!!1!ONE! I'm dead! I was 8th level with 98 in strength and 60 endurance and 50ish at longsword with a good sword and a 60AR heavy armor (star of the north...) I reload (I had just saved) and turn back. WTF! I'm attacked by 3 ruffians! an archer, a warrior and a something I don't know what. I win. Then I look around and want to sleep but can't! That's when I saw that there are monsters everywhere! I understood that the world was made a dangerous place. I healed myself with a very handy spell and I levitated on the top the mountain to sleep alone :) Nobody disturbed me :D
Oh and did you try all the texture enhancements? All those pluggins make Morrowind almost another game. The Balmora expansion and all... Go ahead, try it! But do you have a very high end graphic card? My 6800 ultra and AMD64 3400 are suffering at something like 15 fps on the outside (max distance...)

(edit)
And I forgot, nobody will actively try to ruin you experience and talk l337 :D

With the HUGE list of A list titles out right now, or out in the next week or two, theres no reason for the MMO grind.

I gave up MMOs a couple years ago. I do pop into Shadowbane once in awhile to PK and junk, but thats infrequent now as well.

Planetside is my old standby. Any time there's a lack of great games, Planetside never fails me.

It also doesn't require much of a time investment, and the box is cheap now.
