I see hinting expressed as attempting some sort of validation of who you are when you are alive as strange play. I see people do it but I don't understand it. Can someone explain why this is ever to be excepted? I can allude to you all day long that I am Dudley Moore or a Firetruck but that doesn't make it so. The only reason to lay down hints I would think would be for a post mortem, so if I die and am on the side of the righteous, you can see all of the information I've buried away with my autopsy that wasn't apparent when I was trying not be assassinated at night.

I would point out, however, that if Newcastle's theory were right then Han could still be out there. In which case he couldn't be pretty certain that he would survive the night, since Han could block any protection.coopasonic wrote:Newcastle wrote:both times was on purpose and the second time was very deliberate....i was hoping people would get the hint...and back off, without me having to reveal...but i logged in this morning and saw my train zooming along....

Additionally, if El Guapo is chewie what do we tomorrow after lynching an imperial? The votes immediately go on el guapo and he gets another kill. This is really starting to look like a really nicely planned imperial maneuver. Han Solo: Han can block a protection once per game from any Imperial that has the protection ability. To initiate the block, he just PM’s the Mod the name of the person he wants to block and the block is automatic. Greedo cannot kill Han. If Greedo tries to shoot Han, Han will kill Greedo instead. If Han kills Greedo in this fashion, Han's identitiy will be revealed.

The assumption on you knowing that you will live through the night (asside from the automatic assumption that you are a wolf) was that you were in a position to Protect Yourself. Han could disrupt you protecting Yourself, and hence - they would get you killed tonight, if Han is/was in the game.Newcastle wrote:Dont matter what han does to me...matters if he blocks a target of mine...which bodes well for me.

Honestly, reading Han's ability, it's not clear to me whether the "person" blocked means that: (a) he has to name the imperial whose protection ability he's blocking; (i.e. who he thinks is Thrawn); or (b) has to name the person who is being protected (i.e. he names the target, and protections on that target are thwarted.Newcastle wrote:Han Solo: Han can block a protection once per game from any Imperial that has the protection ability. But in this alternate world, it doesn't matter because the target and protector are one and the same. In this case "Han" would name you, and you would be unable to protect yourself and would be killed by the rebels.

Well, Leia's ability is used up, so letting Newcastle live doesn't risk letting him do some fancy maneuver. No harm in that sense.Unagi wrote:Certainly isn't any harm in a spent Leia being our target tomorrow. (Would you agree El Guapo?)
Do any of you have an interest in tesing out RMC or Mr Bubbles today?
We may want to keep any and all votes off a suspected Wookie... Someone like Grund.
BUT absent some other clear target presenting themselves, I'd still favor lynching him over lynching another target. Letting him live gives him more time to muddy the water (like Scoop did to a degree in the BSG game after getting more-or-less outed). Also once he's lynched that expands our pool of provens to include me, so we get the benefit of that information plus any info from the night time kill.
In addition to that, I don't have a strong sense of RMC or Mr. Bubbles. Both are potential rebels, but I don't have an especially strong vibe, which leads me to favor the "bird in the hand" that is Newcastle.
So my plan is still to vote Newcastle if he doesn't turn up dead by when I leave work. Seems like if he were going to die he would've already, but there isn't much harm in waiting and debating. I could be persuaded if a particularly promising rebel turns up, but that's my plan for now.

Re: Star Wars WW - Day 3
Also, our information might well not be any better tomorrow in this regard. Newcastle would live through the night since he's Leia. I'd almost certainly live through the night because: (a) my power is spent; (b) killing me would 100% validate my claims and lead to a surefire lynch of Newcastle/Leia.
So we both turn up tomorrow, and the analysis is changed. The *only* way tomorrow changes if is: (a) Rukh is in the game; (b) Rukh has survived thus far; and (c) the rebels have not yet scanned Rukh (if they have, then Rukh is probably the night kill. That's what you'd be banking on in postponing the lynch/shot. For all we know the rebels could know that Rukh is dead.

Anyhoo, if my tally is correct,
pr0ner, Issy>Bubbles, tru1ncy, RMC, coop, theo, Bubbles, ~Guap, Semaj, ~Semaj, trig>RMC, ~tru1cy,
We need 9, remus can't speak.
That means five votes on NC, so mine is safe to not have anything go crazy while we are waiting to see if anything else should shake down.

Well, yes. That's part of my analysis. Rukh's scan would prove this one way or the other (specifically, that you're not Thrawn, of course). My point was just that if you're banking on Rukh's scan to do so, you're assuming that all three assumptions above are true; if any of them are not, then the group is just wasting time and leaving a rebel on the table.Newcastle wrote:or rukh scans me...then kills you. i'd be happy for him to do that.El Guapo wrote:Also, our information might well not be any better tomorrow in this regard. Also, there would be some harm in that Rukh (if in game, again) would waste a scan that could be used to identify the actual admiral).

As we used to say back in Missouri, "That dog don't hunt."
I just don't buy it because it gives no motive to El Guapo's play today. Guapo has been playing with almost resolute caution the entire time. For him to make this bold stroke play helps give the truth to his assertion in my eyes.

Hmm. I was having some cereal this morning and noticed this on the carton of milk:

I would consider one of the silents if a train gets moving...simply so they dont hurt us later in the game. I wont be voting for the scoop train. Something doesnt sit right with it for me.
/wave to the silent
"Glad for you guys to make it"
And those on a train that's you know in the shop being repaired, and not zooming along on the rails to lynchdom...i got one piece of advice for ya..."Shit or get off the pot"

Re: Star Wars WW - Day 3
so you see no motive in offing the imperials protector? seriously? YOu're a pretty bright guy trigg...but you have to see that. They take me out...we got ZERO protection on the way to the trash compactor...ZERO!!!triggercut wrote:Yeah I see it now, on July 13...followed immediately by a sort of cryptic "Shit or get off the pot", which sure could be used to claim Count Dooku ("Shit is Dookie everyone...you gotta believe me!").theohall wrote:He made it both before and after.triggercut wrote:So wait....Am I missing something?
Newcastle's crumb-drop was a "blue in the face" comment?
And he made that comment AFTER El Guapo's reveal?
C'mon.

So you're essentially saying that the Rebels would be more likely to be willing to sacrifice one of their number--which they can't afford to do, really--to try to force a daytime lynch of our protector instead of just taking a zero-risk shot of killing him at night?Newcastle wrote:

That logic fails to work for me, sorry.

withdraw Newcastle
I just realized I have switched my thinking but failed to switch my vote. I am not making the same mistake I made on CR.

Re: Star Wars WW - Day 3
how is it 0 risk? Maybe Han is not in the game? Have you thought bout that? Maybe them "faking" jabba is a calculated risk to spook him out. After all, its one of hte easiest roles to spoof here...just needs no jabba to come forth. Uhm, could that be remus?triggercut wrote:So you're essentially saying that the Rebels would be more likely to be willing to sacrifice one of their number--which they can't afford to do, really--to try to force a daytime lynch of our protector instead of just taking a zero-risk shot of killing him at night?Newcastle wrote:

It really depends on the nature of hte sacrifice Trigg....maybe ElG is no longer a special? Maybe he's a boomer? MAybe he is han?
I cant answer it for you. What i can say is that i am Thrawn, and lynching me is a mistake. Give me a chance tonight to prove my worth.
