I hope everyone had a happy holiday week.

Mr. Lem maintains his 1st-place positioning by the slimmest of margins, and JC Anejo holds onto the EoS Surge top spot, as well. We've actually got a 3-point dropoff at The Line™, so those of you just below have some work cut out for you...

Time for the last week! Don't mess it up! All games are on Sunday this week.

Pick of the week: GB, BAL, PIT and NE all won a lot of people some points.

Oops of the week: Houston. Ugh.

Crazy performance of the week: Brees breaks Marino's record, and Rodgers destroys the depleted Bears.

'Saw that coming' of the week: The Denver Tebows finally being steamrolled.

'Didn't see that coming' of the week: Indy. Again.

Corrections to week 16 scores must be received by the kickoff of the first week 17 game. Please verify your scores. Corrections to week 15 scores are closed.

You double posted the EOS and did not give the Week 16 scores on their own.

Well some lucky person is getting "above the line" thanks to my stupidity. I'm not sure if it had a ghost click or a brain fart but my last picks aren't in my sent box. Enjoy the playoffs whoever that lucky SOB is! 8-)

That happened to me too earlier in the year. Were you using Hotmail by chance? I've had emails not being sent a couple of times since then as well. :?

We've reached the end of the regular season. Thanks to everyone for playing, and good luck to those of you moving on to the next stage of the game.

Barring any corrections that make their way to me post-haste, here are the results:

-The regular season winner is Captain Caveman, by a single point over Mr. Lem, with The Meal only a single point behind him. Mitma also rode a Week 17 Top Dog award all the way up to fourth place, from ninth after Week 16. Congrats to CC, who takes home 10% of the prize by choosing the correct week to make his first stand at the top.

-JC Anejo takes home the End-of-Season Surge award, with a dominating 4-point lead over 2nd place. After Week 12 he was 7 points below the line, and he concludes the season 8 points above. Nice finish, sir! 5% of the prize is yours.

As a quick refresher for those of you who finished above the line:

-Those of you above the line are eligible to continue into the playoffs.

-Playoffs proceed just like the regular season, except the Super Bowl which is worth 4 points +/- 1 rather than 2 +/- 1, and each player has 5 locks total for the duration of the playoffs.

-Prizes are as follows: 40% for 1st-place playoffs, 30% for 2nd, and 15% for third.

-Tiebreaker order is: 1: Regular-season score, 2-4: preseason tiebreaker answers, 5: split winnings evenly if still tied.

Good luck!

Pick of the week: NE over BUF. Only one missed it.

Oops of the week: There were several oopsies--Denver, OAK, SEA, MIN, HOU, DET all had a lot of backers.

Crazy performance of the week: Matt Flynn. Matt Flynn. With a franchise QB record in Green Bay.

'Saw that coming' of the week: Dallas choked with the season on the line.

'Didn't see that coming' of the week: Matt freakin' Flynn.

Gwartok, don't read this--or take a deep breath before reading...
Spoiler:
The crazy part is that you tied with Moghedian, and there are no tiebreakers for The Line™. In other words, had Gwartok submitted and beaten you both, an additional spot would have been created due to the tie, and all 3 of you would have made it.

whew...just made it!

I was just checking last years scores....

Last year 378 points was enough to win it....this year, not even enough to get into the playoffs? Am I seeing that right?

JC Anejo...congratulations on the EOS win and the IM as well.

Are you still at the same place as last year so I can send you another scratch ticket?

Once again I screwed up the EOS, I forgot to pick a Thursday night game a few weeks ago, and I believe I had the winning team locked which would made me tie with jcangelo. Last year I did something similar and lost to my nemesis, The Meal :P

A lock is worth 3 and would have made you lose by 1 instead of 4 so you shouldn't sweat the Thursday game. :P

Did anyone pick Gronk as the answer to #3 on the tie breakers?

What do you do if nobody got any of them right or the same number of them (them being the tie breaker questions) correct? Since I could finish anywhere from 1st through 8th inquiring minds want to know. :)

McCoy had the most TDs this year, not Gronk. I did get the sacks question right, though. Unfortunately, my terrible regular season finish means that I only have to worry about a tie-breaker with Moghedian. :?

McCoy had 20 (17 rushing, 3 receiving). Gronk had 21 (1 rushing, 20 receiving).

Who did lead in sacks?

unless the stats page I was looking at included playoffs. Damn it, now I need to go check.

edit: yep. Stupid page counted the playoffs. Damn. I was so excited that a TE had led the league. :(

To clarify, you either get the question right or wrong; there's no points for being closer.

1) Regular-season point total
2) Who will have the most sacks in regular-season NFL games? Jared Allen
3) Which team will have the best record at the end of the regular season? Green Bay Packers
4) What non-QB player will finish the season with the most TDs? LeSean McCoy
5) Share winnings equally.

Hey, look--a Super Bowl game that was fun to watch the whole way through! And not just because it included the Patriots losing! Congratulations to Ralph-Wiggum for sneaking into the playoffs in a tie for the last spot, then winning it all. Congrats also to Captain Caveman for his 2nd consecutive regular-season win, and 3rd in the past 4 seasons. He also came in 2nd overall in each of the 2 seasons prior to that. I believe this qualifies as 'on a roll'. He moves into 2nd overall with this win.

Ralph-Wiggum - 1st place
Mr. Lem - 2nd place
Mr. Bob - 3rd place
Captain Caveman - Regular-Season winner
JC Anejo - End-of-Season Surge winner

I've updated the spreadsheet on the pool site.

Also be sure to check out the Stats Analyzer script if you'd like to see how your picking stacks up all-time. (For example, it tells me that my best-picked team is NE with a 75% win rate, and that when locking NYJ I win 94.12% of the time. I've picked 59.59% of games correctly, and 77.45% of locks. I've successfully locked IND 65 times, and am 0-1 when locking CLE.) It also summarizes my home-team results and shows that I have some home-team bias:

When picking CHI...
Player Zaxxon has 38 wins, 28 losses, 24 locked wins, and 6 locked losses,
for a 57.58% winning percentage and a 80% locked-game winning percentage!
This player's lifetime score is 142 over 9 seasons, for an average of 1.48 points per game!

Hope to see you all participating again next season, when the Bears win it all!

Only part I'm annoyed about is that I really felt the Giants would win but that the Pats gave me a better chance to win on my own and then "she" goes and picks the Pats too. Thought my way right out of first.

Predictably, my top two teams in terms of total points earned over the 9 full seasons of OONFL are NE and IND, but this season the top is GB. Also interesting to me is that this season I actually earned -1 point picking KC and actually picked them four times. Holy crap.

Those are some impressive overall #s, Mr. Meal.

Few tips on the script if anyone else tries it:
-You can limit the results to a particular year by moving the xls files you don't want analyzed into a subfolder temporarily. Makes for some fun comparisons, eg overall vs current season
-Make sure your name is spelled the same each season. For most this shouldn't be a problem, but I noticed in one year I had 'Mr Bob' and in the rest 'Mr. Bob'.
-Yeah, it's rough around the edges

I downloaded the script but not exactly sure how I'm supposed to use it to show my stats. Any help for a noob? As a side note, I'm on a Mac so I'm not sure if that's the reason for my problem.

There's a hastily-written instructions txt file in the .zip file. Yes, you need to be on a Windows box with Excel installed. From there you run the analyze.bat file and will be prompted for a player name and optionally a team name.

Here's a preview of your results:

I'd love it and can't do it at work. I can do it from home though so if you don't feel like doing it I'll be home in a few hours to take a look on my own. Of cuorse, you'll then be flooded with questions on how to make it work right but that's a different discussion.
