Sadly no. That's the conundrum of craftsmanning. The next guy available usually captains or trades. It's going to be especially rough on trading with two offices in the game.

You're in good shape, in that I don't care about trading or captaining though. Craftsmanning will (hopefully) soon be my thing.... Of course, knowing that, I suspect it will soon be weenie's thing as well.

I'll set up the turn for qantaga's governorship as soon as I get a ten minutes this morning.

Edit: Did I say ten minutes? This could take some time. Also work is stacking up already this morning. In the mean time it is Qantaga's governorship:

• Builder (+0)
• Captain (+2)
• Craftsman (+0)
• Mayor (+0)
• Prospector (+1)
• Prospector (+1)
• Settler (+0)
• Trader (+0)

The trader house is empty, adding those to the available goods posted a little earlier. bb2112 posted the plantations. It might until after work until I can get a full summary. Maybe earlier if I can get a lot of moments throughout the day.

Going slowly to rebuild the boards. Found so far that EG forgot to add a coffee plantation, so I put that in for him. This is taking a long time and then I'm going to need to reformat to make it look like Grund's boards again. Bear with me.

When I'm done, I highly recommend going over my work.

That clears the trade house and ends the trader turn, making it my turn to choose an action. To sum up the results:

Q = -1 Coffee + 6 Doubloons
EG = -1 Sugar + 3 Doubloons
NC = -1 tobacco + 5 doubloons
CR = -1 indigo + 1 doubloon

Trade house now empty.

You're gonna hate this question LM BUT

Out of all of these
Guild Hall: cost: 10, capacity: 1, VP value: 4, quantity: 1 (Scoring: +1 VP per small production bldg. +2 VP per large production bldg.)
Residence: cost: 10, capacity: 1, VP value: 4, quantity: 1 (Scoring: +4-7 VP for 9-12 slots filled with plantations & quarries.)
Fortress: cost: 10, capacity: 1, VP value: 4, quantity: 1 (Scoring: +1 VP for every 3 colonists.)
Customs House: cost: 10, capacity: 1, VP value: 4, quantity: 1 (Scoring: +1 VP for every 4 VP chips earned.)
City Hall: cost: 10, capacity: 1, VP value: 4, quantity: 1 (Scoring: +1 VP for every beige building.)
Wouldn't the guild hall be the best choice for me?

Does it have to be manned in order for me to get VP points from it at the end? Wouldn't the Office, Large market & small warehouse ...would they count for 1 or 2? or would they not count...only the tobacco storage?

So would i best be served w/ the City hall?

1) Current VPs for any manned great big building:

GH 4 base + 3 for production buildings (Tobacco +2 Indigo +1, more production = more points)
RES 4 base + 0 for spots open in plantation area (8 spots filled. One more gives + 4 etc...)
FORT 4 base + 2 for colonists (Mayor to get more)
CUSTOM 4 base + ??? (I have no idea how many chips you have)
CITY 4 base + 4 (3 beige building + City Hall (a beige building))

2) Any of those buildings have to be manned to get the bonus points at the end but they will still score 4 no matter what else happens.

So now is a good time to plan the rest of your game. Which building you want and how you intend to make sure it's manned.

Right now the City Hall is 8 or the most but your plans could change that.
Also keep in mind that part of building those buildings is weighing which ones are important to other players and how taking them away from the other player may swing the game to your advantage.
For instance, if I were in the position to get the fortress, you might decide to buy it partially for the 6+ points it nets you but also partially for the 8+ points you would make sure I never got.

The guild hall is good for you in that others will want it. It's not as good for you if aren't planning on buying a lot indigo plant and sugar mills and tobacco plants and coffee roasters. I am guessing you plan to keep the money going and get more buildings. If that's the case I would pursue City Hall. But that means committing toward beige buildings. I'm guessing with all of the money being tossed around we're going to run out of large Beige buildings pretty quick.

This.
One question I have, though, is whether a small market and large market are the same "type" or not. Like, with me already having a small market, could I buy a large market?

They will stack. So will warehouses.

Both Markets = +3 per sale
Both Warehouses = 3 types of goods stored +1 individual good.

Here's a question: the remaining VP chips is "obfuscated", so we have no real idea when they will potentially run out and end the game. But shouldn't we have a loose idea of how many are left? Like, if we were playing IRL, and we were down to (say) 3 VP chips, a quick look in the box would reveal that, right? So, shouldn't we have some knowledge like remaining VP chips are "low", "middle", or "high", or what have you?

Remaining VPs should not be obfuscated (to my knowledge) but VPs held should be. However, it one really wanted to they could just go back and count VPs turned per Captain phase. I elect not to do this because 1) It's against the spirit of the game and 2) I'm lazy.

Yes, but I'm talking about the PR rules, not about this game. In the rules bank VPs are not hidden but player VPs are.
obfuscated
Although in Grund's photo, it's pretty clear there are still a lot chits left:

Also, I haven't read the rules in long time but this page suggest there are 122 victory chits in a five players game

"Where are you off to?"
"I don't know," Snufkin replied.
The door shut again and Snufkin entered his forest, with a hundred miles of silence ahead of him.
