When I change the sheets, it's usually the last thing I do before getting into bed. They tend to collect in a pile in the closet floor.

So do you just buy more sheets every time you need them?

I've never owned more than two sets of sheets at any given time in my life. Each set takes up maybe 2/3 of a load. By that math you've got 5 sets of sheets, and possibly one more on the bed. Why would you need so many?

Laziness, pure and simple. I believe I have 2-3 more sets that I don't care for, but keep in reserve.

That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.

Is it too late to declare Celebrasion as my favorite album of 2011?... Well sort of... I don't dig the album from beginning to end but the tunes I dig, I think I think I dig more than anything else that I've heard from last year and their music and its attitude just continue to grow on me.

Obama's in town to shake down the wealthy and credulous for campaign cash.

His motorcade is leaving from downtown to the airport at 4:30 on a weekday.

I'm currently sitting between him and the airport and there's only one freeway connecting the two. Traffic tonight will be... interesting.

Am reading Kings 11/22/63, and contemplating other strange things, such as whether it would be possible to sequence JC 's DNA from the Shroud of Turin, or some other artifact from the crucifixion. Or make stem cells. What might we discover?

PS yes I do recall the carbon dating that the Shroud wasn't that old, but...details

Beginning of day yesterday: "Our connection to our customer across their VPN is not working. We need to update the software packages as soon as possible. Call and schedule an appointment with the VAR."
Me sets up an appointment for this morning.
End of day yesterday. Two of the three engineers that can test the software inform me they won't be available but the third will be available by remote.
Beginning of day today. Third engineer says she will test the software but then disappears before confirming whether the software works to $150 an hour consultant. I wait an hour before letting the consultant leave. An hour after that she calls to inform me that the software isn't working properly.

I suppose if you don't see the $150/hour coming out of your check, you don't care about it.

I've hated The Olympics since I was a little kid because back then literally all the TV shows would be replaced by boring sports coverage.

I didn't even watch that much TV but having the option taken away pissed me off.

I never have got the whole professional sports & Olympic thing of OUR team.
It's a bunch of athletes who get paid to do something they like. They don't represent me. I didn't vote for them. (and I consider sponsorship getting paid)
I wish them all the luck in the world but whatever they do it doesn't affect my world.

I'm a sports lover but I hate the Olympics.

A comedian (I can't remember who) said it well: "Watching the Olympics is like watching gym."

I mean, I don't give a shit about hurdles or pole vaulting but once every 4 years I'm supposed to suddenly care? Feh.

Why hate the Olympics because of a few events. I enjoy watching the sports I like (admittedly a wide range) and simply skip watching the other events. I love the Olympics in part due to the idea of what they are supposed to be (though rarely if ever are).

Because there are no events I like? I'm an american team sports fan - I like baseball and football and to a much lesser extent basketball. The "Dream Team" playing a meaningless exhibition isn't enough to make me tune in.

I don't think it's the Olympics I hate so much as the overwhelming hype surrounding the Olympics.

Why is it everyone expects that I know how to do their job? If I knew everything about being engineering, I'd be an engineer. If I knew everything about accounting, I'd be an accountant. If I knew everything about logistics, I'd run the warehouse. If I knew everything about production, I'd be the floor supervisor.

Maybe we should try taking this from the other perspective, perhaps if you fully knew how to do x then you'd know how to use the tools of your job.

Thank goodness I taken tomorrow off because I am overly bitchy this week.

Code: Select all

Locals.TempFileDeletion.ExtensionToDelete = ( Find(Locals.TempFileDeletion.Current_Report_Options.Name,"short",0,True,False) == -1 ? True : False ) ? Locals.TempFileDeletion.ExtensionToDelete : "_short" + Locals.TempFileDeletion.ExtensionToDelete
I am tempted to leave it like this. I especially like the mishmash of which variable names get underscores.

Day #9. Indications are that there are two main issues.

1) My DNS is borked. I can access the signon screen via IP address, but not via the actual name.
2) I don't have admin access on my laptop like I'm supposed to have.

Anyone know of a better search engine than google? The signal to noise ratio for searching is getting to be too much for me. My go to means for fixing everything has largely become nothing but a giant advertising space for people linking to things that aren't even remotely helpful.

Code: Select all

//This awesome nested ternary statement will replace the file extension (e.g. ".txt") with the short report file extension (e.q. "_short.txt") if the CurrentReportOptions container is determined to be that of a short report
Locals.TempFileDeletion.ExtensionToDelete = ( Find(Locals.TempFileDeletion.CurrentReportOptions.Name,"short",0,True,False) == -1 ? True : False ) ? Locals.TempFileDeletion.ExtensionToDelete : "_short" + Locals.TempFileDeletion.ExtensionToDelete
Much better! Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you feel about them), TestStand forces you to use tons of ternary statements.

Do you have a funny tan line?

Regardless of the answers, see how many days it takes you to remember not to use shampoo. Bet you are going to do double takes when you walk by a mirror too.

Have fun with the freedom, just keep your clothes on and remember that you can get in trouble for streaking. However, because you have less hair (less wind resistance), you might be able to out run the fuzz! :P
