I just got recruited out of the blue by a company I had no idea existed in my area.

It looks like I will be changing jobs soon.

I love Linked In.

Man, I'm really in the mood for some Laurel and Hardy tonight.

Laurel and Hardy are good, but I am more an Abbot and Costello guy.

See, I love me some Marx Brothers. But there are times when I don't want that kind of humor, but the simpler, slightly more innocent humor of Laurel and Hardy.

Alas, I didn't get it last night. Netflix only has one L&H movie on instant streaming (Flying Deuces) and I've seen that one isn't one of my favorites. Some Sons of the Desert would have really hit the spot. Or Blotto. Or Them Thar Hills followed by its sequel, Tit for Tat.

In hindsight, I could probably have gotten my fill from YouTube. Along with 100s of mashups of them dancing in Way Out West to some other song.

My not quite 3 year old figured that one out recently as well. He used to use the sleep button on the keyboard, but I learned to be aware of that. The power button is easier for him to get to undetected. he knows when he pushes it, Daddy stops playing the game. It's probably for the best.

I feel special. Out 1 year old walks up to mommy's computer while she's working and taps that power button like a little ninja. No one sees him coming until the PC is in shutdown.

Hmm, not that I would do this being a responsible adult and all but I'm currently playing The Prodigy's Fat of the Land album in an empty lab and imagine myself in a different life snorting coke off my Galaxy S III phone, then scaring tourists on the Metro on the way to going clubbing and getting into a couple of bar fights.

I think I'll just go home soon, grill some steaks and hit the pool with the daughter. Oh well. (hums Firestarter to himself)

Edit: I've forgotten how good this album was/is. When the guy I work with starts annoying me, on goes Smack My Bitch Up!

My daughter is only only 11 months old, but my power button is lit up, so its like a moth to a flame. She's compelled to push it and put my comp into sleep mode. It doesn't help that when she sees me on the comp she wants dada to play some youtube videos.

I'm sleeping. Wife is awake playing on her computer. Son comes into the room and crawls into bed and proceeds to kick me awake.

Why can't the wife take the son and go someplace else and let me sleep at 6:30 in the morning on a Sunday?

Should have reported fat aliens in the back yard delivering presents. They would have believed you.

Almost got some insurance money today from a stupid blind woman in a nice new Mustang. Didn't want to tear up my Mustang's front end to get it though. Came to a 3 way stop. T shaped and Im coming to the T. The guy on the right stop goes as Im slowing to stop. I get stopped as he goes in front of me and is gone and I wait on the next in his line because i got to my stop a little slow....plus Im a nice calm driver. So the next guy from the right stop goes and behind him is a brand new Mustang. As the guy is going past i see the Mustang is slowing so I figure they know what to do at a stop and I start my left turn...nope. Dumb b**** just kept coming with me half way through my turn. Wife yells "watch out!" and I hit the brakes. If I hadn't I would have T-boned her ride right in her door. She never even hit her brakes. I blew my horn and gave her a big WTF shrug. Idiot.

Told the wife I shoulda just hit her..i know it would hurt me..real bad too. ya just know she has nice insurance...unless she spent it all on the car. She never even looked. How some people get a license I dont know.

Dear IT decision-maker types,

Are you aware of how much time it takes to recode my tools every time you announce another arbitrary change to the pathing of our shared drives?
wot?

More than that, because of the number of different things I have to open up to get them all.

It adds up.

Also, they could just settle on a folder organization system and then not change it again. And again.

Peter Murphy has done several tours over the last few years.

Dead Can Dance has toured twice in the last 15 years.

I bought my Murphy tickets first, so he wins by default. :). I actually only like DCD in small doses, so paying $50+ to see them is way too steep for my wallet.

In Excel macros? I have no idea. I just inherited this stuff and had to figure out how to get it all working again the first time they added a couple of subfolder layers, in order to keep doing part of my job.

There probably is a better way, but I'm not versed in how to make that happen.

I dropped off a personally made fruit basket to our family doctor's office as a thank you for taking such good care of the family over the years. I did the basket because it's nice to get something when it's not a holiday or special event, just another day to celebrate life.
As I handed over the basket, I started to cry... THEN realized I should say, "Everyone is still alive". Funny after the fact because her face changed back to joy and we did that nervous relief laughter thing.
