Finished watching a documentary on Hugh Hefner. Glad I watched cause I got a better appreciation for the man.
Anyways, what I wanted to share was the ending clip (when the credits were rolling) with looking into a well. He was saying to his friend, go ahead and toss a coin in the well, your dreams will come true. Hey, someone believes it so much they tossed in a quarter!
I just found it really funny and it's random enough to post here.

Saw a little one yesterday who couldn't have been more than 1 year old wearing glasses. Curious how they fit glasses on a kid that small. It's not like they can tell the doctor when he asks "this one [flip] or this one?"

My guess is the only reason they are on someone that young is because their eyes are crossing (since it's not like the kid can tell them everything is blurry). My daughter started crossing her eyes at 3 and they have these cool prism things that they hold in front of each eye and they can tell where the kid is focusing. Of course at 3, they can talk pretty well and can help out, but I'm assuming the same technique applies to the young ones.

I charge pretty much everything. This is the best way to monitor my expenses. While I am making more than I ever have, I've seen my utilities and gas absolutely skyrocket at a frightening pace over the last two years, way outpacing the growth my income. It's scary how much less I'm doing now and how much more it's costing me than ever before. The only "good" to come from it all is that my mortgage payment seems less and less significant when stacked against the rest of my bills. My minimum payment, which nine years ago was 2x the rest of my normal cost of living monthly expenses is now .75x the rest of those monthly expenses. (Of course that also includes prescriptions and groceries)

In other news, it takes a lot of balls to post your election kitsch on somebody else's property.

I got a laugh out of my Dad last night. This weekend was their 44th anniversary. I told him that I was very glad that they had gotten married, as it made a huge difference in my life. He was quite amused and said he's have to pass that one on to Mom.

Our utilities have been going down. The refrigerator we bought a year ago made a serious dent in the electric bill; it has already paid for itself. Just yesterday we replaced our 70-year-old gas range with a nearly identical model that doesn't have pilot lights or a leaky door gasket; I estimate it will save another $10-15 per month and recoup its cost in 3-4 years. Last month I cut the cable bill by $20 by cutting the land line.

It helps to start from a position of inefficiency, and that's easy to do when you have a wife.

Wow, amazed at how my ears perked up and my eyes darted from side to side. I have huge property issues... if I only had money to burn, our property would be a walled in fortress.

It seems like more often than not, people just don't care. This is proven over and over again with littering, public bathroom neglect and other people's property (cars, land). A sign on the lawn could be the accident of a misread address from the people who put them around town just doing their "job". I would still remove the sign and place it in a garbage receptacle without calling the representation (unless I was board and wanted to do something more).

If I keep up the $200 a month electric caused by both the heat wave and an inefficient AC unit, then I might break down and get the new furnace, central air, and insulation combo... Having missed all of the tax incentives to do so. Truth be told, while I'm inefficient, historically I've not been inefficient enough to warrant change. I was used to a combined $150 a month heat and gas but it looks like a slight increase of consumption due to consistently more extreme weather combined with cost increases will leave me with close to $300 as the new $150.

Makes me wish I was used to driving a gas guzzler, sprinkling my lawn, and running a ton of inefficient appliances so I had room to improve and room to be tax incentivize to improve.

Right now the only extravagances I could part with are running all my clothes through the wash cycle once (to get all of the extra detergent out. No matter the washer, have you seen how much detergent comes out after a second cycle?) and that I completely hand wash my dishes before placing them in the dishwasher (I swear the only reasons I have a dishwasher are that it sterilizes the dishes and provides me with a place to dry them). While my water has annoyingly nearly tripled in price over that last few years, if is still by far the most reasonable of utilities. I used to love my water bill. $30 ever three months? $10 a month for the stuff that keeps me alive and cleans everything? What a bargain. It's still a bargain but it doesn't feel like a bargain any more because $25 a month is 2.5x $10 a month (which is what a paid when two people were living here as opposed to the one person living here now.)

Duffle Blog: NBC Cancels Series, Entire Cast Of ‘Stars Earn Stripes’ Killed In Afghanistan
“We thought the best way to portray the hardships of being in the military was to use a real setting and a real mission, which is what we did by placing the stars in a real combat scenario. Unfortunately, the stars’ training didn’t cover actual military tactics, but rather focused on what looked cool on TV.”

Most of Hollywood is in shock and disarray over the deaths of such stars as Dean Cain and Terry Crews. Sylvester Stallone, who worked alongside Crews in other films, spoke to The Duffel Blog amid tears.

“I never saw this coming. Terry was always on point on the set,” said Stallone. “He always seemed to be believable with the fake weapons and explosives we used. I expected him to excel on the show, and it’s truly regrettable that he was killed.”

Dominos pizza charges $13.99 for one medium pizza, or you can get two for $12. Not that I really need two, but I suppose it can't hurt to have breakfast for the next few hotel days.
