Recommend me a good HTML Editor

I've got Adobe GoLive (a couple of versions ago I think) but it's a bit too heavy for quick HTML stuff...takes too long to start up etc.

Can anyone recommend me a good HTML editor? I don't necesarily need WYSIWYG or drag and drop - just something with nice little buttons for common commands...using WordPad is a bit pedestrian and tedious and I hate waiting for Adobe to load all of its shit before letting me code.

You can try web dwarf or first page 2000. I like FP2k a lot. It is more of an html editor (not wysiwyg). Web Dwarf is pretty wysiwyg. I also like the coffee cup stuff. I have an older version of Arachnophilia (fits on a floppy) that is great, too.

for a free html editor it's hard to beat 1st Page 2000.

The only downside is that it's a few years old and development is pretty much non existant. But hey - it's free. And you won't find anything more customizable, little buttons-wise.

I use Dreamweaver MX and Homesite for most of my regular work. I loathe wysiwig editors generally but this version of Dreamweaver is a thing of beauty. Homesite of course is long-time champ. But they are pricey especially compared to 1P2k.

I don't know if those qualify as light weight. For ultra-lightweight work, I'd say go with NoteTab Pro.

The clipbook feature has html code helpers. Kind of buttony sort of things.

I usually use dreamweaver if I'm not coding by hand, but i've been meaning to check this free editor out:

It's based on the gecko engine, so it has great standards support, and it's financially backed by the people who build the Linspire(new name for Lindows) linux distrobution, and I think a few others.

Might be worth checking out.

Well, please, let me know what you think. I've been too busy to d/l and get my head wrapped around it. Would love to know what the CSS support is like(wysiwyg?), and if it can compare to DW:MX.
