Oh, yeah, at this year's State Fair of Texas, Frito Lay will attempt to set a world record for largest Frito pie.
...
To set the record, the Frito folks will have to build a finished product that weighs in at around 1,200 pounds. Empric says the goal is based on previous food records like largest taco (1,654 pounds) and largest hamburger patty (6,040 pounds). Kuechenmeister's team is still working on details such as the container the record breaking dish will be made in and the amount of chili, chips and cheese they'll need, but they promise the finished product will yield more than 5,000 samples for fair-goers.
This is your chance to be a part of history, people. The Frito folks will commence construction at 10 a.m. October 1. Come hungry, and maybe you can be part of the follow-up record setting event -- the world's largest synchronized belch.

Ive learned that KiKa is a German TV show/station for kids. I was flipping around stations and this puppet was head spinning to some basic rap music. A quick search let me know it's a bread that entertains. Well, I'm entertained and digging the funky 80's beats.
The show is on an endless 5 minute loop. I'm not as entertained as I was 15 minutes ago.

Commonly heard when discussing cars up here in Canada...
"So what's the mileage like on that thing?"
"Oh I get about 8.5L per 100 km."
Ya, it doesn't make sense to use mileage but it sounds better than kilometreage or something.

I had another arms and armor demonstration with a work buddy who is in the (modern) Knights Templars. Basically, it consists of a short talk, and then battering the hell out off each other for 10 minutes using a variety of medieval weapons. Fortunately, between the additional 100 pounds of gear and the fact that we are 50, we can put on a decent show while not causing serious damage to each other.
Unfortunately, no one took pictures, so it never happened.

Wow, plastic models are expensive nowadays. I built dozens in high school and remember thinking they were outlandishly pricey in the $15-$20 range.Isgrimnur wrote:Stay up until 3 a.m. playing games, head to bed knowing I can sleep in. It's too bad I didn't have a way to hang onto those. I had sweet 1/48 A-10 and F/A-18C models I built.

As a kid the going rate for most models was 98 cents.

Re: Random randomness
My bucket list is to have a fleet of USAF models in the same scale. I picked up a good deal on the Texan II on a previous sale. I want to be able to set the F-14, F-15, F-16, and F/A-18 next to each other for comparison purposes. Once I've got that, try and throw in some older models like the F-4 and the A-7, in Air Force versions, of course.

I can't imagine not eating pizza crusts. Worst case scenario would be that they were too thick and dry to choke down after eating the topping goodness. The solution to this almost unheard of anomaly is to lubricate said dry crusts with ranch dressing. Problem solved. This is pizza we're talking about here. Variation in crust intake is part of the gullet pleasing experience of pizza consumption. But my ucky tolerance wouldn't see me eating someone else's crusts unless I was dating them and it's been more than a few years since I've been on a date.

Bagel heads:
Botox is more ubiquitous than yoga pants in Hollywood. But women (and men) in Asia have been taking part in a different injection "trend" for years: saline bagel-shaped injections on one's forehead.

Here's how it goes down: technicians insert a needle into the forehead and inject about 400 cc of saline to create a forehead-sized blob. (One bagel-ee describes is as feeling like "something's dripping down [his] head" and a "slight stinging sensation.") The practitioner then places his or her thumb into the blob to create the indentation.

I had a big collection when I was a kid. Building and painting models was the kind of meticulous, detail-oriented work that I really got lost in. Then when I hit my teens I blowed 'em all up with firecrackers. I think it was my way of renouncing childhood.dbt1949 wrote:At one time back in my twenties I had a backlog of 100 plastic models of one sort or another. I especially remember filling an elaborate aircraft carrier model with gasoline, lighting a couple of firecrackers, and pushing it out onto a small pond. The whole pond blazed with gasoline and melting plastic. It was epic.

So my wife buzzes me in the middle of the night because she has to go to the bathroom. I am sleeping with my headphones on and don't hear her.
So she gets up and goes to the bathroom and then gets in her wheelchair and comes down and wakes me up to "see if I'm alive" because I hadn't answered her summons.
Let's see a show of hands of what I was thinking right then.

Teabagging Alabama fan gets two years:
An Alabama man pleaded guilty Tuesday to obscenity charges and faces a two-year prison sentence for rubbing his genitals on an unconscious LSU fan in a Bourbon Street restaurant after the BCS national title game in January.
Prosecutors reached a plea deal with Brian H. Downing of Smith Station, Ala., on the morning he was scheduled to be tried on charges that included sexual battery, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Prosecutors agreed to drop the battery charge.
...
A video that went viral on the Internet appeared to show someone in a University of Alabama jacket exposing his genitals and performing a simulated sex act on the unconscious man at the restaurant after the Crimson Tide beat LSU for the BCS football championship on Jan. 9.
The LSU fan has sued Downing, asking damages for "mental anguish, humiliation, embarrassment, anxiety and depression ... damage to reputation" and lost tuition payments "for having to withdraw from school."
...
Michael Kennedy, one of Downing's attorneys, said his client decided to accept the deal in large part because he has a 1-year-old son and didn't want to have to register as a sex offender.
