My stomach is doing some serious compartmentalizing of the cereal I just gave it. The body fascinates me and raises my eyebrow at the same time.

Yesterday I had a root canal. I am allergic to almost all anesthetics and painkillers, so usually my dental work involves no drugs. About 15 minutes into the root canal, I couldn't take it anymore and asked for nitrous oxide. They don't use it, so my only option is being injected with whatever -caine they're using these days, the one they promise is a much better class of drugs and won't make me sick. Can't really just stop because the tooth is already opened. So they inject me and about 10 minutes later I puke- fun to do laying down with a rubber dam and bite blocker in place AND an open tooth. Of course I choked and aspirated on my own vomit. Wheeeee!

They suctioned like crazy and completed the rest of the root canal so all I can do now is hope they got everything and I don't end up with a massive infection. I got 10 days worth of 4-a-day antibiotics to help with that. Blech.

Next time you should just get really really drunk before going to the dentist.

I don't know if it would help with the pain or not and you'd still probably throw up but at least it would be a lot funnier. Until you started crying and telling the dentist that you "love him, man."

As someone that had a root canal last week, I can totally sympathize. I thought vomiting into a car window while you're driving was bad. But into a dental damn? Good grief. You win.

I can't believe I threw up in front of my dentist.

Face it, Shannon, you threw up ON your dentist.

You sound so much like me it's unreal. Only you say you have a high thresh hold for pain. I have no thresh hold for pain at all. "I'm not like other people. Pain hurts me." Pain literally blinds me, makes me weak in the knees, and nauseates me. OTOH, I just have to endure it because pain killers don't work and sometimes they react very poorly with the pain in question, so what are you gonna do? I will say that since my metabolism has slowed down from humming bird to bear in a cave in winter the -caines actually "numb" my face for a good long time. The don't block the pain, but they numb my face. Beyond that, a little bit of the real stuff and I'm out in like two seconds. The put a mask on me, say "Ok. We're turning the gas on. I need you to count backwards from 100." and I've have yet to ever make it 98. "One hundred... Nintey ni..." and that's it.

God, that sounds awful. Having been through a root canal with no anesthesia before, I feel your pain.

Good luck on the recovery.

Good god, you have my respect. I've been through cavity fillings and getting veneers with nothing and was fine, but I literally had tears streaming down my face when they started scraping in the canal.

I did have nitrous, but it didn't really do anything. Basically mine went like this: he would drill until I screamed, take a break for a couple minutes until it subsided a bit, drill again until I screamed, take a break, rinse, repeat. I consider myself a relatively tough guy, but by the time we finished, my shirt was completely soaked through with sweat and I had tears streaming down my face.

It set a new benchmark for pain in my life...wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I have a high threshold for all kinds of pain except the dental variety. Stopped going to the dentist a few years ago when we lost our insurance and I have never been back. I didn't like him and he's in the expensive tier of our new insurance, so I would need to shop for a new one.

The nice thing about being in your 50s is you have a realistic shot at dying before your teeth rot away. Not much incentive to maintain them when they only have to last another 20 years anyway.

The dangers of jumping on the bed:
A 4-year-old boy miraculously survived a 35-foot drop after he accidentally fell out of a third-story window while jumping on his bed. Carl Segui suffered several stitches after his frightening fall, which landed him on top of a bush outside his apartment complex in Burbank, Calif, a local CBS affiliate reported.
...
Segui was rushed to a local hospital, where he was kept overnight for observation. But he left just 24 hours later, feeling like a “superhero” and ready to celebrate Halloween. Fittingly, he donned a Batman costume for the occasion.

Aquaman, the Thing, or pretty much any other superhero without the power of flight would also have been an acceptable costume.

So I'm taking a shower with my 5 yr old son. He is in the penis is fascinating stage. He gets out, and his mother is getting him dressed while I finish my shower. He is saying penis, penis, penis over and over again. All the while my wife is saying things like, that is not polite, we don't talk about that in public (which he does), and trying to distract him to get him on some other focus. I step out of the shower and start drying off when my son shouts, "Daddy's Penis!" My wife at her wits end announces, "I don't care about Daddy's penis." Truer words have never been spoken.
That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.

So, I'm doing stuff on the computer upstair and can see out the window to our driveway. I thought I saw my parents car coming up so I flew down the steps while thinking, "shit, that's not good cause they always call before coming over and how much makeup did I put on this morning?" Unlocked and opened the door, bounded out side only to do the Curly Shuffle back into the house.
Our house is up for sale and a car very similar to my parents decided to drive up and take a look.

I don't know what that means.

My oldest is a 2nd-year-Webelo, so this was his first invitation to a full-up Boy Scout event, and I tagged along for the night as he's still a little wary of overnight campouts away from home. As insinuated by my above comment, I wasn't terribly impressed.

Holy Hell, do Cracker Jack "toys" suck nowadays. Now I guess they are called Prizes. My prize was a cartoon of Ben Franklin with the fun piece of trivia that he can also be found on the Dollar bill.

And I thought their temporary tattoos were a step in the cheap ass direction.
