If I just go straight ahead and stay on the outside of the curve, that should put me right at the last space in the turn.

He probably still does. I'm going to have to drop 3 gears to not die, and if I roll an 8, I'm spun. I may back it off so I actually, y'know, finish a race. And second place is a lot better than a third DNF.

Yeah, Isg pretty much had to take the 6th gear roll because he had a two-roll deficit to make up in about .25 of a lap, and that was one of the only chances to make up a roll. But as he says, with the downshifting he's going to come out of the next turn in 3rd gear with a husk of a car, so it's hard to see how he can make up the remaining one roll deficit with only one more turn left.
