 Because I was the only one advocating waiting until the evening, right? And better yet, I was doing so in a visible way in order to delay a lynch that remained more or less inevitable! I am a terrible wolf.

But seriously, if there were a wolf shooter (that could get to fire if Bakhtosh had a chance) then you might have an argument. Otherwise, once the lynch is inevitable it makes a lot more sense for a wolf to rush to cast the killing vote so as to get the credit.

And sweet! Nice to have the day 1 lynch actually come up wolf.
So you're saying that a wolf--recognizing the seeming inevitability of Bakhtosh being hung, decides that instead of laying low, instead comes up with a bull-puckey list of reasons to cast the killing vote so he can splash around in it like a kid in a fountain, trying to hide in plain sight?

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm seeing too, as i read the Bakhtosh to the gallows vote train as well.
Pretty much. Not to say that's the only reasonable explanation for Newcastle's voting pattern, but it is a plausible one. I do understand pr0ner's rationale incidentally: desire to lynch Bakhtosh immediately, I say let's wait, the lynch happens quick, Bakhtosh comes back wolf. But it's just one that doesn't really stand up to logical scrutiny.

No, I don't shut up regardless. Hell, I've self-voted myself into oblivion as a wolf before, winning the game for the villagers. Fact is, my life is currently a shitstorm of personal issues and protecting my family comes first. I don't want to go into it in public, and I sure as hell don't want it to impact this game. Lassr put up with it last game, and Stessier deserves it even less than him. ;)

For at least some expectations and disclosure: The issues have come to a head this past week/weekend, which is where my absence came in. I'm working on reviews and news ramp-ups leading into E3 for Gamingtrend (I fly out Sunday to LA), and with my birthday this week, one man down at work you may still get Purge-Lite (if that sounds like Splenda-sweetened vomit, I apologize). I promise I'll be more attentive to the game going forward, assuming the wolves don't decide to simplify the equation.

My silence isn't an indicator of anything other than "more important things" in my life over the last few months. Since I'm past a certain point, I expect my time to become far less precious over the next two weeks. I'll try to remain as active as I can.

Now slow down with the votes against me ... I can't TP *all* of you at once, you know. :tjg:

FWIW, that wasn't supposed to be posted in two parts. I was making dinner and the pasta timer went off right after I thought I had hit preview on the first post. I had not hit preview...I had hit Submit. It's kind of fortunate the first post was complete enough to make any sense at all. I didn't realize what had happened until I went back to it after dinner and just tried to make the best of it.

Dawn of Day 2

Post by stessier »

The village gathered eagerly in the town square the next morning. Hanging a wolf the previous day had everyone feeling good about themselves and looking forward to the day with promise. Slowly people began to quiet as Remus took the census and one by one people confirmed their presence.

"RMC?" "Here!"
"Purge?" "I'm here now!"
"Grundbegriff?" ... "Grundbegriff??" ... "He's over there miming something that looks like a koan, maybe," said bb2112. "But I'm not an expert in sign language, so who knows. Oh, and I'm here as well."

"Fine, fine - someone always has to be difficult. Okay, Newcastle?" ... "Newcastle??"

A murmur began to ripple through the throng - where was yesterday's hero? Slowly people started to make their way toward his cabin on the outskirts of the village. It was clear, even from a distance, that something was wrong. The heavy wooden door was pushed inward and hung at an odd angle. Once close enough to see inside, the destruction took on a reddish hue. Only a few were brave enough to actually go inside and the scene they reported left no doubt what had happened. Newcastle was dead - but not as part of a feast. Bits and pieces were scattered about while curses and warnings were written on all the surfaces in blood. This was a warning - death stalked the Night and was coming for all of them.

The village reassembled in the town square much less certain than before. Who would lead them now against this menace?

Villagers - Who will you lynch today?
Hunter - on whom will you pass your judgement?
Medium - with whom will you speak?

There are 16 villagers alive. The deadline for the lynch vote is June 20th at 9am Eastern time (please check my math).

I assumed he was the sorcerer and wouldn't vote for him without some sort of burden of proof. If I were seer I wouldn't have scanned him. but I also assumed he would be a tool to be used by the wolves. All in all it makes for about as helpful of a kill as I can imagine for the village, barring him being the seer, which would have made his play especially whacky yesterday as I would have never trusted that sort of claim from him.

This is interesting (at least, from where I'm sitting). Qantaga has hit my list strongly, Unagi has hit my list strongly - yet both of these folks were the ones who pushed Bakhtosh into a vote train. I can't see the wolves deciding to kill one of their own silent on day one to buy good cred with the village. I think it possible there was one wolf in the train, but I tend to doubt that there was more than one.

By that logic:
RMC, Triggercut, Redrun, El Guapo, bb2112, Theohall - other votes.
Purge, Grundbegriff, Lagom Lite - no votes

Lagom gets an automatic pass.

The only surprising aspect to Newcastle's death is that he wasn't a wolf.

Now that we know Newcastle was good, we have to hope that he is an OO historian who was well aware of the ramifications of his actions yesterday.

Since Newcastle was good and since the wolves knew that last night, his death was predictible.

The last two times we've seen a ChaosraveN-1 (Chaos in the Princess Bride game and bb in the Pirates of the Flying Octopi game), the player who ChaosraveN-1ed was also that night's wolf kill.

The logic is along the lines of "since he didn't wait for the accused to speak, he must know more than he's letting on or must have the ability to prove himself."

In Chaos' case, he was a special (Miracle Max with an unused rez pill in his pocket). In bb's case, he was a simple villager.

I'm hoping, since Newcastle was the Mod of the Pirates game (and played in the Princess Bride game) that he was just a simple villager who was well aware of the consequences of his actions and that he was not a special who mistakenly hoped that his wild play would keep him alive (under the guise of "he'll get a lot of lynch attention").

Thankfully, the cabal will be able to tell us Newcastle's role tomorrow.

Lassr
bb2112
tru1cy
theohall
Grundbegriff

But that's me. The five of them are five of the seven of the people I'd be most likely to vote for today. The two not on you list that I am most likely to vote for are purge and vorret.

And then I'm also not sure how long we should treat list as gospel for where to place our votes either as bb2112 is in my sights right now... So... (I had even forgot he was on your good guys list)

I'd like you to shut it and allow the day to develop without people falling onto the "the known want it this way" crutch.

I also don't like revealing Holman's identity as that knowledge could have been used and was not in danger of being lost to the village.

I'd like you to shut it and allow the day to develop without people falling onto the "the known want it this way" crutch.

I also don't like revealing Holman's identity as that knowledge could have been used and was not in danger of being lost to the village.
How could Holman's identity have been used?
