Interesting Quote from Obsidian

Post by EddieA »

In an interview about NWN2, Obsidian had this to say when asked if they had purchased the Icewind Dale license -
"Feargus had the foresight to buy several assets from Interplay as it collapsed. It's a great opportunity for some of that work and effort to shine when otherwise it might not ever see the light of day."

I wonder if this means that some of what made up what would have been Baldur's Gate 3 and Fallout 3 will make it into their other games.

After KOTOR2, Obsidian has moved to the "wait for reviews and a price drop" category. Yeah, I know, the cut content is supposed to be Lucasarts' fault, but Troika also blamed all three of their publishers for their bad games.

/me gets all squinty-eyed.

The two Troika games I played were definately not bad. While Vampire and Arcanum were unpolished, I thought both were great and far superior to KOTOR 2.

KOTOR 2 is probably the most disappointing game I've played, as the potential was certainly there. Kreia was an amazing character, and some of the themes were very interesting.

What connection does Troika have with Obsidian, other than them both having ex-interplay people?

"Bethesda is making Fallout 3."
Interplay was working on Fallout 3 until the game was cancelled shortly before they fell apart. I'm assuming the quote meant that they had purchased the assets from the game and presumably, BG3, such as story materials, art, etc. that could be used for a future game, although not with the Fallout name.

I was trying to figure out some way to take mine with me when I left my last job. Didn't work out though.

Sorry about the complete lack of reading comprehension displayed earlier in the thread. It's been an interesting week.
