beta test canundrum

Post by Daehawk »

I got a real problem here. Ive been accepted into a super high profile AAA title beta test..I cant even say which......part of the beta signup and acceptance depends on me printing out a paper copy of NDA, signing it, and mailing or faxing it in. Theres the problem...I dont have a printer. WTH am I supposed to do now? argh.

Get a gmail or hotmail account if you don't have one, mail it to yourself, drive to the public library, access your account from one of their public terminals, and print it.
Over here.

Get a new hotmail account. Use it for this one email and never use it again.

yep...if you're not comfortable with using the library, take the file (on a floppy/cd/usb drive/etc) to any place that has copy/print service and have them print it out for you.

If you got into the Auto Assault beta and I didn't I'm going to kill you.

In the game, with my car...as soon as it's launched. ;)

As for your problem do what disarm said.

If you have wireless internet, you could always hack into a neighbor's router, print it off their printer, break into their house, locate the printer, get your NDA, steal a stamp, and mail it out. That might be easier than going all the way to Kinko's.

Aren't there online services that can FAX electronic documents? There's also software to FAX electronic documents using your modem. Fax machines scare me (soo many buttons!), so I've never figured out how, but I've often been laughed at for not knowing how to do these things.

I hardly ever use my home printer. It does come in pretty handy when I have to use it every couple months or so. But I could definitely live without it, especially since I could use my work printer if I absolutely needed to.

I bought a laser printer three years ago and I haven't changed the toner cartridge yet (the barely full one it comes with, that is)

Id kill to have a good laser printer.

Anyways I took it to staples..ened up costing me $10 and I just noticed after I got home they faxed it to the wrong number...lucky I had it faxed to both numbers. Just my luck the wrong number was the one that really needed it.....At least they said when i called them they'd make sure it got there.

Im not sure if I should call Staples and tell them it was the wrong number. At $1 a page to fax it cost me $3 for that wrong number....Think i will.

Buy a printer. A decent one can be had for under $50, and a multifunction one decent can be had for under $150.

Invites? You make it sound like a party or something.

I'll only do it as a favor to someone I know. I'm sure the city would love it if I volunteered to pick up trash or the zoo if I volunteered to shovel elephant dung. Beta testing buggy software is every bit as distatesful of a job - not only do I never want to play the game I tested ever again, but the apathy often spills over to other games.

I've done that! Almost...actually I just sorta access a nearby wireless hot spot...

What type of game is it (ie. Strategy, RPG, Action, FPS)? Can you say that at least?

I use my printer so little that whenever I do need to print something the cartridges are junk and I have to spend $30 for a new cartridge.

You need to get a laser printer then - they are cheap enough, and the cartridges don't dry out with infrequent use like inkjet cartridges.

Otherwise, find some excuse to exercise your inkjet cartridges every other day or so, even if its just printing a test page.
