To be fair, adolescent power fantasy tripe is way easier to write than absurd existential horror, and every community has got to start somewhere... right?
Unless one loses a precious thing, he will never know its true value. A little light finally scratches the darkness; it lets the exhausted one face his shattered dream and realize his path cannot be walked. Can man live happily without embracing his wounded heart?

Brilliant John Oliver (whom I was never a fan of) rant about net neutrality on his new HBO show. Definitely NOT boring!! At the end, he asks the internet comment trolls to rise up...awesome. Supposedly crashed the FCC servers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpbOEoRrHyU
Agreed. And unless the person under oath was being intentionally obtuse, had the lawyer questioning him simply used the term "copier" that probably would never have happened. Who actually says "photocopy" these days? "Can you make a copy for me?" is a heck of a lot more common than "can you make a photocopy for me?" (I guess there could be regional variations on that).
I am also looking for more of those...really well done.

And all the comments crashed the site. It was still in pieces when I tried to check in today, although they had a press release from earlier saying everything was working on their end.

FCC comments for this are still down.
Thanks for posting that John Oliver clip. He really nailed it. "Net Neutrality" sounds like such a boring issue until you peel back the layers of the onion and see what allowing providers to "throttle" internet speeds at their discretion would really mean. I attended a Boston Bar Association talk on this just yesterday, and I came away from it with no doubt that a future without "net neutrality" would be incredibly scary. If we allow Comcast/TWC/Verizon to decide the speeds with which certain sources on the Internet should be accessible, we are surrendering huge power to them. It's a serious issue, and people need to be commenting to the FCC and their elected officials.

They really need to be classified as a public utility.
They should be able to take steps to protect their network and help protect the infrastructure as a whole from spam, DOS attacks, etc, but becoming a toll gate keeper to maximize their profits and give preferential treatment to their first party and preferential treatment to paying third party content needs to be prevented at all costs.
Yeah, posts were not able to be made for the most part of yesterday, as the total remained the same...so I wonder how many posts SHOULD be there? I submitted one myself, and did not see the post count increase.

The violence erupted at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on the 30th anniversary of a controversial army assault on Sikhism’s holiest shrine which killed hundreds on June 6, 1984.
At least 400 people were killed in the attack on the temple by Indian troops that was codenamed Operation Blue Star and was aimed at flushing out armed separatists demanding an independent Sikh homeland.
...
Two groups of Sikhs sporting blue and saffron turbans chased each other with swords, spears and sticks on the marbled staircase of the revered shrine in Punjab state.
Police alleged the clashes erupted after members of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) shouted slogans for an independent homeland from the temple rostrum and insisted they be allowed to speak first at the microphone.
I literally had to watch this twice because I was laughing so hard I didn't get it all the first time. Anyone who has introduced a new cat to the household will be able to relate.
