Considered an instant chat box for the forums?
A site I use called Syndicate Gaming Network...basically a gaming forum.....has a box that stays at the top of all pages that is a instant chat box..sorta like a twitter box. You post a line or two and it says who and when it was posted. Like I posted to say hi then went to the forum to make a post on soemthing. I then see someone 2 min later post a howdy. Others are from 50 min ago and such and it scrolls up as it gets older.
Thought it would be something to consider.

When in doubt, skewer it out...I don't know.

Just my opinion, but it's not my cup of tea really. Takes up a lot of real estate at the top of every page and can lead to a lot of "hey, me too" spam. They're also under a year old with under ~6,000 posts in well under a thousand topics. I think to if we put such a thing up here, peoples' worlds would turn upside down.

I think mchat does a shoutbox kinda thing for phpbb3.. I could probably put it out on the forum listing page (vs on the top of every forum, that is a lot or annoying real estate).
Anyone else interested in testing this kind of thing out, or are we all too old for IRC like boxes on our forums?

I don't see any harm if users can turn it off or hide it...as I suspect 9/10 of us would do.

Might I suggest EBG? I'm not sure we'll ever find a way to bring life to Meta.hitbyambulance wrote:i vote 'for' it. would bring some life here.
