Been watching music videos from the 1990's and as much as I and many others give music shit for being crap since the 90's there were some damn good songs out there then. Im bad to rag on music at any year as Im living it...but when I look back theres always stuff that rocked for reasons I didn't appreciate at the time.

BTW Im Daehawk . I live in the past. I have no future. :)

We're in the process of getting our basement finished. They've got all the framing done, and and working on getting the sheet rock up. We've had crews here pretty much every day for the last week or so, and they seem to be making good progress. Had three guys show up at 7:45 tonight and start hammering and sawing away downstairs. I ended up having to kick them out because they were working right under the Wonder Twins 2.6 bedroom and the noise was ridiculous. Dudes were pissed, but I wasn't about to have them keeping the kids up for another 2 hours.

Is it a common practice for contractors to show up after hours like that? I've never had any home improvements done before...not really sure how this all works. I've got zero issue with them making a shit-ton of noise during the day, but 7:45 at night seems a bit much.

That was my thought as well, but I wanted to check and see. Thought that maybe it was usual for the construction thing and I just didn't know it.

Today is the day that I can officially declare "Mission Accomplished" in my War on Hypertension®. After discussing the issue with my physician, I discontinued my hypertension meds (Valsartan/HCT) on 1 Dec, and after two weeks there should be no drugs left in my system. My average daily BP has gone from ~115/65 mmHg while still on the meds to ~117/69 without them. The maximum non-stressed reading over the transition period was 126/76 mmHg, well within the normal range, while the maximum stressed reading was 134/72, which is high-normal but comfortably short of being hypertensive. When I started on the meds 5 years ago, my BP readings were... considerably higher. It's nifty what you can accomplish by eliminating job-related stress. :)

Now I just need a flight suit, a banner and an aircraft carrier...

As "The Client" I think it's perfectly within your rights to determine when the work is done. There should be a little more communication between parties and they shouldn't just be showing up at night to work in an occupied residence without letting you know ahead of time and planning for it.

That is really strange. I can only guess they were very busy and maybe somebody else was waiting for them to get to their work first. But your general contractor should have really asked about working those kind of hours, especially in a residential situation. Very strange.

The Cranberries singer pleads guilty to air rage offences:
Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan shouted ‘I’m an icon, I’m the Queen of Limerick’ during an incident at Shannon airport where she headbutted and spat in the face of a garda.

An outline of the incident on November 10th last year was given at Ennis District Court on Wednesday, where the 44-year-old mother of three pleaded guilty to a number of air rage related offences.

The court heard O’Riordan had initially become quite difficult on a JFK to Shannon flight where she stepped on the foot of Aer Lingus Flight Attendant, Carmel Coyne and airport police officers were notified.

Insp Tom Kennedy said O’Riordan - dressed in black for the court sitting - told an airport police offer: “You can’t arrest me. I’m an icon. I’m the Queen of Limerick. You don’t know who you are dealing with. I pay my taxes so I pay your wages and I am going to sue.”

He said O’Riordan of Friarstown, Grange, Kilmallock, Co Limerick, was “quite irrational, quite aggressive, quite difficult.”

The inspector said while she was in the back of a patrol car to take her to Shannon Garda station, “she was banging and kicking, it looked like she was trying to break the windows but she didn’t do that”.

He said that after escaping from the patrol car, Garda Shane Dawson gave chase and on apprehending her, O’Riordan “turned around and headbutted him into the face and spat into his face.”
...
Solicitor for O’Riordan, Bill O’Donnell accepted on behalf of his client that there is no substance to the allegation made by her against Garda Dawson.

In his plea of mitigation, Mr O’Donnell said “these were the actions of a very, very ill person” who “was somewhat out of control”.

He said O’Riordan was going through a very, very difficult time having recently separated from her husband of 20 years. “She moved to New York City and hadn’t seen her children for two months who live in Canada and was living out of a suitcase in New York City.”

Mr O’Donnell said O’Riordan was returning to Ireland for the second anniversary of her father’s death. “This was a very emotional time for my client and she was not in a good place.”

He handed into court medical reports on O’Riordan, with one psychiatric report concluding her actions “were of a person suffering a severe psychiatric illness”.
...
O’Riordan pleaded guilty to assaulting Garda Shane Dawson and two members of the Airport Police at Shannon, Ronan O’Reilly and Eamon Power on November 10th last. She also pleaded guilty to resisting/wilfully obstructing Garda Dawson in the execution of his duty.

Judge Patrick Durcan adjourned the case for mention to January to fix a date for sentence.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Which allegation was that? That she paid his wages or that she paid taxes?

Bad quoting on my part.
[Insp Tom Kennedy] added: “She then alleged that Garda Dawson had grabbed her tit and claimed that he sexually assaulted her by groping at her. It was a very nasty situation for Garda Dawson and for all concerned.”

Ah. I didn't bother clicking through, I thought he was being contrite-non-contrite about her "do you know who I am" crap.

That's a pretty strong allegation and good on them to come out and put and end to it.

The kids are away for the week, so Blackhawk gathers together all of the presents to be wrapped...

Realizes one, for his eldest son, is missing...

Can't remember seeing it for a week or so...

Digs through the closet...

Digs through the other closet...

Searches every box...

Checks the trash can...

Considers checking the outside trash, then realizes the trash man came several days ago...

Realizes he probably threw away a present his son was very much looking forward to...

Depressed and saddened, checks the finances to see if he can afford to replace it...

Glances at the tree...

Realizes he wrapped that present last week.

I just had a similar experience. I went ice skating last week and forgot to bring my gloves. Was going again yesterday and was halfway to the skating place when I realized I forgot them yet again. I had even put them right next to my keys to make sure I remembered.

Or so I thought. Pulled my skates out of the trunk and there were my gloves, sitting on top of my skates. Apparently past me knew future me wouldn't be reliable, and past me put the gloves there without telling me.

I only do that for trash day.

But I do use that technique for a lot of other things. Sometimes it works. Rarely I haven't had any coffee and it still fails.

No! Flour dust is highly flammable and if you "throw" it on the fire you could end up with a giant cloud of fire.

Youtube "flour fire" or "flour explosion". But don't get any wise ideas.
