No! Flour dust is highly flammable and if you "throw" it on the fire you could end up with a giant cloud of fire.

wiki says you're lucky you didn't explode.

So not only does things like floor and grain dust light on fire easily, it will often explode.

Did you try throwing gasoline on it? That is equally effective, I hear.

Liquid gasoline is not flammable. Of course, throwing it on a fire is going to aerosolize it, which does make it flammable. It works better if you can put the fire into a standing container of gasoline, but that just might cause more issues.

If the grease fire is in a pot/pan, putting a metal lid/cover on it would the be obvious first move. A wet towel might not be a great option, since you can easily up fanning the fire rather than cutting off the oxygen supply.

If you need to "throw" something on it and don't have a handy kitchen-appropriate fire extinguisher, you could go with baking soda, if you have a lot of it on hand.

The big problem with grease fires is causing them to spread by splashing the grease. Water will do that (including wet towels.)

When I say "wet towel" I mean a towel that has been wetted and quickly rung out. Not something meant to get water on the fire but to smother it. Granted, in a panic if you throw it at the grease fire you could easily spread it.

Sand is probably good but who has sand in their kitchen?

Once when I was young our stove caught on fire after my mom cleaned it (some grease buildup apparently got pushed to the pilot light). We didn't have a fire extinguisher (not sure they were invented yet); I went to 3 different stores and cleaned them out of baking soda.

Actually the little pit below the burner caught on fire. And the burner was red hot.
And If you put enough flour on it they do go out.

I just got that too and had the same reaction. I found my shortcuts still found the programs and they still work. They were under a Windows.old file.

It is allegedly supposed to delete itself after a month but I don't see that being the case, at least not on my upgraded PC. Here are the official instructions on how to remove it:

1. In the search box on the taskbar, type Settings, then select it from the list of results.
2. Select System > Storage > This PC and then scroll down the list and select Temporary files.
3. Under Previous version of Windows, select Delete previous versions and then select Delete.

Under my non-Admin account that option is disabled but assuming I would be able to as Admin. 17.6GB for me.

I have seen my mother put one out at home on the stove with less than a box of baking soda. Granted it had just started and my mother reacted like a seasoned pro. None the less it was put out and no damage done to anything other than the pot. That pot is also still in use and server as a reminder as to what can happen.

At the chicken chain that Arcanis and I worked at we were told to use flour if there was a fire. We also had a trash can full of flour on hand so we could get the fire extinguished before the fuel/air mixture was correct. There was only one time we actually tried and the fire was on the burner controls behind a metal plate so we were unable to get to it so store was evacuated, gas turned off, fire alarm pulled and fire department called.

Thank you Windows. Another update and another game that won't play. I'm sorry to disappoint you tho. After uninstalling and reinstalling it I got Sid Meiers Civilization Beyond Earth to work again. It was only 4.4G.

I just checked, and those two lines were from someone's draft of a fanfiction story. It wasn't regarding the movie.
