Are we just not going to talk about Trump accusing Cruz of stealing the Iowa caucuses? :)
And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

The Daily News never fails to surprise me. On the one hand, I'm all about hatin' on the Trump. On the other, I can't believe a newspaper is writing such things.

When I was growing up, The Post was sort of the middle ground between the Daily News and the NY Times. Serious enough that you could read it on the subway without being embarrassed, but also clear enough for most people that it could be easily understood.

I never did know why it changed into what it is today (actually, money).

This DailyBeast article about Trump's apparently false claim to have lost "hundreds" of friends on 9/11 is something else.

I'm surprised this isn't getting more traction. If true (that he lied), it seems like a standout in a race filled some pretty dispicable lies.

It's another match in a fire with Trump. At this point, I'd be surprised if he'd been telling the truth. As would most folks. Even his supporters realize he's a natural born liar. But they're so afraid of minorities they'd vote for a mannequin head if it had "I'll throw out anyone who isn't white!" written on a post it note and stuck to its forehead.

I think this, even more than the terrible policy I think he would pursue, is the reason Trump's reality is killing me. I really thought we were better than this.

He didn't call all Mexicans criminals just noted that many who come here illegally are, which is fair and accurate.

He also didn't call for keeping all Muslims out of the country but restricting refugees who are Muslim from coming in UNTIL the system for screening them for extremist ties is improved. So there would still be plenty of Muslims here and many coming in through proper immigration methods and protocols.

Of course people that believe Hillary will go after rich people will believe just about anything.

Good god. Yes, we're so delusional.
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump called Monday for barring all Muslims from entering the United States.

"Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on," a campaign press release said.

Trump, who has previously called for surveillance against mosques and said he was open to establishing a database for all Muslims living in the U.S., made his latest controversial call in a news release. His message comes in the wake of a deadly mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, by suspected ISIS sympathizers and the day after President Barack Obama asked the country not to "turn against one another" out of fear.

Trump's comments are likely to roil the Republican presidential race, forcing many of his opponents for the nomination to engage in a debate over whether there should be a religious test to enter America.

But his proposal was met with enthusiasm by many of his supporters, who showed their approval via social media as well as at his rally on Monday night.

"I think that we should definitely disallow any Muslims from coming in. Any of them. The reason is simple: we can't identify what their attitude is," said 75-year-old Charlie Marzka of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Moreover, the Muslim travel ban will likely do little to dent Trump's own popularity among Republican primary voters. The billionaire businessman has dominated the GOP contest for months despite repeated controversies that would likely sink other White House hopefuls.

"Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine," Trump said in a statement. "Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life."

Trump's campaign added in the release that such a ban should remain in effect "until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on."

The release pointed to an online poll from the controversial Center for Security Policy, which claimed that a quarter of Muslims living in the U.S. believe violence against Americans is justified as part of a global jihadist campaign. Critics have questioned the reliability of the organization's information. It also pointed to a Pew Research poll, which the campaign declined to identify, which the campaign claimed points to "great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population."

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told CNN on Monday that the ban would apply not just to Muslim foreigners looking to immigrate to the U.S., but also to Muslims looking to visit the U.S. as tourists.

"Everyone," Lewandowski said when asked if the ban would also apply to Muslim tourists.

Trump may have purged hundreds of people from his contacts.

I knew someone who did lose hundreds of friends in 9/11. He worked at the Port Authority as a high level manager until he retired. He knew most of the 84 Port Authority casualties, and worked with many civilians and responders there too. I am certain the stress contributed to his cancer a few years later.

Donald Trump wrote:When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

Did you see Cruz at last night's Republican town hall? I thought Carson and Rubio came off pretty well, but Cruz is like nails on a chalkboard. I thought Anderson Cooper was doing his absolute best to hide it, but it looked obvious to me that he couldn't stand Cruz. Un. Like. Able. (Unelectable).

"Oh my darling. Oh my darling. Oh my darling, Heiditine."

How can that not be the nail in his coffin???

Edited to add Ted Cruz Trying To Sing Might Be The Most Cringeworthy Video Of The Election, in case you missed it.

Trump's PR team is calling Cruz an anchor baby now.

Someone needs to check their political buzz words dictionary for the correct definition of anchor baby.

Lewis Carroll wrote:“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master—that’s all.”

At least Trump is consistent in applying his "you hit me, I hit you back" rule. Picking a fight with an extraordinarily popular pope seems like a bad idea to me, but then again I thought Trump would be long gone by now, so obviously he is an enigma to me.
