Exactly! They hammered him for 2 hours trying to convince everyone how terrible he is but in closing pledge to support his candidacy if he's selected. Yeah, he must be really terrible then.Enough wrote:I expect Dems will feature prominently how Republicans went on record stating what an absolute disaster Trump would be for the country and yet in the same breath pledged support to the fat-fingered f#$% if he is the nominee.

Jindal was spouting today that Trump is Obama's fault. Interesting theory. It is ironic that the party of personal responsibility can't even realize that it got too addicted to hate and it is consuming them. Can someone please organize an intervention or something?

Re: The Art of the Donald Trump Sideshow
Webb is an opportunist screaming here for relevancy. Dude changed his party status to Democratic in 2006 and then punted in 2010 still miffed that Obama didn't get him a role at POTUS. I suspect he is just continuing to follow that SOP. Webb is a big part of why Obama didn't get more done when Dems controlled both House and Senate. One of the only positive things Webb managed to do by getting elected was to destroy the career of Macaca-George Allen.
And I thought Webb was anti-war crime, wtf? Also as a Vietnam vet I am sort of shocked he would dig nam-avoiding Trump in any fashion. Maybe since Obama didn't pick him up for Veep he's hoping Trump will, lol?

Whatever you think of his politics, I think this article about Romney's time as President and Bishop of his local LDS stake shows a more human side, and definitely not a man out of touch:Smoove_B wrote:Right - and I think Romney comes off like a rich a-hole that is completely out of touch.

Was he doing sport then too? Or enjoying Lemon. Wet. Good. at the time? Whatever his interpersonal skills might be, he comes off very strange in public and during off-the-cuff interviews. It's the same with Rubio - he's not fast on his feet. He might very well be more grounded in reality, but his public persona isn't nearly as enticing.Grifman wrote:He's certainly more grounded in reality than Donald Trump.
EDIT: I also want to be 100% clear - in no way should Donald Trump be President. I'm just trying to stare into the abyss for a short time and escape before I become the abyss (to poorly paraphrase a classic).

In case it's been missed, McCain's joined in the chorus:
linkThe GOP's 2008 nominee, Arizona Sen. McCain, joined in, raising "many concerns about Mr. Trump's uninformed and indeed dangerous statements on national security issues." That echoes the worries of dozens of leading conservative defense and foreign policy officials.

It's funny that they choose to focus on national security so as not to alienate the bigot vote.

Looks like his campaign folks have scrubbed the internet, but you can still see his thoughts on a guy that plays sport and some guy talking about his thoughts on a glass of lemonade he was handed at a parade. It's just...awkward.Grifman wrote:Sorry, I have no idea what you are trying to say?

I don't know about "doing sport" (is it like playing sportsball, or just a dig at his propensity to say "sport" instead of "sports"?), but "Lemon. Wet. Good." refers to an incident during the 2012 campaign.Grifman wrote:Sorry, I have no idea what you are trying to say?Smoove_B wrote:Was he doing sport then too? Or enjoying Lemon. Wet. I'm sorry. I like John McCain, or, at least I used to before the whole Palin thing. But it seems a little ridiculous to me that the GOP thinks it can stop the Trump onslaught by having all their prior LOSING presidential nominees come out and attack him. What are they thinking? I mean, aren't we all in agreement that Trump is, in the minds of his supporters, the solution to all the prior GOP presidential failure?Defiant wrote:In case it's been missed, McCain's joined in the chorus:linkThe GOP's 2008 nominee, Arizona Sen. EDIT: Also, for the record, I thought Romney's Trump take-down speech was the best thing Romney ever did. He certainly wasn't that genuine or persuasive at any point when he was actually running for office.

Conservatives have been asking, "Why couldn't Romney have been that powerful against Obama in 2012?"Kurth wrote: EDIT: Also, for the record, I thought Romney's Trump take-down speech was the best thing Romney ever did. The answer, of course, is the difference between Obama and Trump.

Well he's slowly drifting out of range

Trump voters will blame the GOP, and every lemonade drinking empty suit they run from now on will never get a vote from current Trump supporters. Which I'm sure will make almost everyone here happy, as if any of those empty suits were a danger to you in the first place.hepcat wrote:If Trump doesn't win

Unless the GOP runs a candidate that had a TV show. TV is God to these people. If the GOP ran a Kardashian, they'd step over each other's crushed bodies to get to the voting booth.
In other words, the GOP just needs to learn to embrace stupidity and bring the tea party back into the fold.
