You can't assume something like that based on the experiences of one man.Jeff V wrote:I assume that everyone "woman" who has ever turned me down was one...it's the most logical reason. So...a billion perhaps?dbt1949 wrote:Are there really that many transgendered people in the world?
Seems like an awful lot of media for them, more than I would have thought.
That said they turned me down as well, so you are certainly right.

Actually I looked up the definition on line.
Basically I think it means everyone who is not a "normal" heterosexual. At least by the media.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/20 ... tcmp=hpbt4A North Carolina man found himself in handcuffs on Tuesday for failing to return a VHS of a Tom Green movie he rented back in 2002.
James Meyers, of Concord, was pulled over on Tuesday for a broken taillight and when the police officer who stopped him ran his license he informed Meyers there was a warrant out for his arrest, local station WSOC TV reported.
“The officer said, 'I don’t know how to tell you this but there’s a warrant out for your arrest from 2002. Apparently you rented the movie "Freddy Got Fingered" and never returned it.' I thought he was joking,” Meyers told the news station.

i have a coworker who attempts to make jokes/puns/quips/references/etc. 95% of the time, they are bad. not in a 'groan at bad pun' bad, it's a 'pathetic/lame' bad. a 'i feel sorry for you that you even felt the need to say that' bad. -10% funny, sometimes used as a way to try to one-up someone who actually did say something funny or notable.
as of today, i have stopped pretending that i am slightly amused by these utterings. what i found out is that he tries even harder to evoke a reaction. you have to steadfastly ignore what he says until he finally shuffles off.

Re: Random randomness
I was just reading where Superman's Krypton was 50 light years from earth. So how does the earth end up with so much kryptonite?
Even if the pieces flew close to the speed of light it would take over 50 years to get here. Chances are it flew nowhere near than fast and took hundreds of years to get here.
And was the blast of Krypton's last moments directed at earth? Teeny bits would have spread out in every direction. The odds of the debris coming near earth must be astronomical.
And how did the people of Krypton live on their planet if it was deadly to everyone?
If and when we go to other planets will pieces of earth be deadly to us?
And the periodic tables list krypton as a gas so are they going to rename it to something else now that everyone thinks it's from another planet?

To be fair, adolescent power fantasy tripe is way easier to write than absurd existential horror, and every community has got to start somewhere... right?
Unless one loses a precious thing, he will never know its true value. A little light finally scratches the darkness; it lets the exhausted one face his shattered dream and realize his path cannot be walked. Can man live happily without embracing his wounded heart?

It also depends on the source. There are various explanations here and there:
~It isn't common at all, Superman just deals with a lot of people rich enough to have it anyway.
~It is very rare, but they (Lex, the government) are able to recreate it synthetically once they have that first sample.
~It isn't rare because Superbaby's ship drew a significant amount along with it (because Science!)
~The old standby of comic books glossing over the explanations.

There is never one of anything in the universe across time. The universe has probably created and destroyed hundreds of Kryptons. Assuming the definition of Krypton is any planet with the same geological/metalurgical makeup.Blackhawk wrote:It also depends on the source. There are various explanations here and there:
