As I was browsing 1980's tv show theme songs I came across this. It looks pretty cool. I wonder how much cool stuff is in it? It looks expensive for a sub to it though.

It is a cool magazine, although I can't believe how expensive it is. It covers a surprising range of old computers and consoles and always features interviews with gaming legends. The coverdiscs always have lots of intriguing things on them too. This month, among other things, it featured DOSBox and Elder Scrolls: Arena.

I love it but I doubt I'd subscribe, because of the price. They do subscriber offers though. I think the current issue is offering something like 25% off the cost of a year's subscription.

I subscribe to lots of magazines, but this is the only magazine I read cover-to-cover. I never even heard of some of these machines, and yet reading about them and the games made for them and the histories of each is endlessly fascinating.

It's expensive as hell, but I've always gotten more than my money's worth in content.

I find it worth it. I'll usually find an artcle or two that I'll enjoy reading, and theres usually a good cover disc. This month they had an Amiga emulator, and they've had a few adventure games in previous months (Flight of the Amazon Queen, for example, although I already had that game, this one came with software to run it from windows).

Hmm, must be a new issue out. Issues seem to arrive late here, though.

Hmm, the subscription offers I saw were the same price as retail, IIRC. At 25% off, I might consider subscribing.

Page 67 of the current issue (16) is offering a one year subscription and a cool Space Invaders binder for £43.08. Hmmm....I might take that up...

It's expensive because they know they're not getting much in the way of advertising revenue. Most cheap mags are cheap because they're basically just advertising vehicles, and the customer price is largely to make it worth the while of the distribution channel.

Did they reveal in this issue who currently owns the rights to the Shadowrun license? Is it still Microsoft?

That's balls. How long does MS have it sown up for, and how long have they been sitting on that thing, anyway?
