You are quite correct. In fact, all signs point to Saban being around for another 4 years at Alabama before retiring. After his retirement I fully expect clown-show city at Bama for a number of years, but I might be wrong.
It's 109 first team All-Americans.
It's a college football record 61 bowl appearances.
It's 34 bowl victories.
It's 24 Southeastern Conference Championships.
It's 15 National Championships.

At some places they play football. At Alabama we live it.

Unless Trump quickly catches up,
In all fairness, Trump has succeeded this far because the republican base is pissed off and willing to burn everything to the ground to "teach a lesson" (although to who, we're not sure).

Trump's preparedness to even run for president, let alone *be* president, goes no farther than talking about his hands, insulting his competitors, and addressing fear and popular sentiment with more fear mongering and platitudes.

He's a shameless self promoter and the republican base has made it easy for him to get where he is.

I disliked him greatly before this political cycle, and he has done everything possible to increase that dislike. I don't hate him because he's a Republican (he's clearly not), I hate him because he espouses a large number of qualities I dislike in mankind. The guy wouldn't know a principle if it kicked him in the crotch. It's hard to imagine a worse choice for expressing displeasure with the current political party/system, unless your goal was to make a mockery of it, and if that's the case, what's the plan to return it from that state? Once something is an embarrassment, it's hard to bring it back to a position of respect and authority.

If it helps, keep in mind that the total number of people who have voted for Trump in the primaries (~11M) represents only about 5% of the overall electorate (~220M).
True, but he also broke the record on the number of primary votes.
GG was worried that Trump is actually popular, and he is popular -- within a relatively small, self-selected portion of the overall population. We'll see just how popular he is with the general electorate come the end of the year. Between then and now anything can happen, with the only guarantee being that it will likely be an entertaining time.

A humor site I peruse from time to time has dubbed the Donald the DayGlo Mussolini. I'm anxiously awaiting even more imaginative names as the election heats up.

Point of order: at this point, hasn't the Trump campaign moved well beyond the status of mere 'sideshow'?

Every time I see this thread pop up, I can't help thinking Holman ought to rename it 'The Art of the Donald Trump 3-Ring Circus', because if this isn't the political equivalent of a 3-Ring Circus, then what the chuff is?

But Krusty *isn't* a side show. That's what makes Sideshow Bob a sideshow - he's a side show *to Krusty*.

If they haven't already, they won't unless there's a significant shift in public opinion [polls] on Trump. There's reason they haven't already distanced themselves: coattails. They're ready to ride 'em into office.

Minorities are the best when they are doing my bidding.

Now if someone could find me proof that the taco bowl he's eating was not made by a Hispanic, my day would be complete.

It actually looks pretty good. Of course, it would look a whole lot better if it were served in Styrofoam.

I used to love the "Taco Salad" from Taco Bell when it was cheap.

I love that he can't turn off the salesman. I can see him in at a state dinner with the Prime Minister of England, pumping his hand vigorously and telling him that his Limo only has 40,000 miles on it and that the Prime Minister is getting a great deal. After which, the Prime Minister turns to another guest and simply says, "Did...did I just buy a car?".

Nothing about Paul Ryan saying that he cannot support the presumptive nominee of his own party (at least not at this time yet)?
And in banks across the world

Watching Republicans choose sides is going to be interesting. The (R) gov. of MA declared that he will not be voting for Trump or Clinton. Kelly Ayotte, running for reelection in NH, said that she will support her party's nominee but she's not endorsing anyone. Nice try, Kelly.

I'm sitting here in my car while my daughter is in her dance class and I'm listening to CNN and Wolf Blitzer is grilling some Republican talking head. At one point, the talking head said that they started this process with 17 "supremely qualified" candidates. My question is this.

Does this guy actually believe that statement? The presumptive nominee is grossly unfit to be President. Ted Cruz was unqualified to be President. Marco Rubio was unqualified to be President. Ben Carson was grossly unqualified to be President. Carly was grossly unqualified to be President. I can accept the argument that Christie, Bush, Pataki and Kasich have some qualifications. I cannot accept that anyone would genuinely believe that all 17 of these people were supremely qualified to hold the most powerful political office in the world.

And so if he doesn't believe it, why do we all sit around and tolerate these assholes lying through their teeth constantly? If you are conservative, pretend I'm talking about Paul Begala talking about how awesome all Democrats are.
