First, show me a white man in a position of power and I'll show you a man that is misogynist as fuck.
Second, at least this guy had the sensibility to not be in office or running for office when he says something dumb like that. As far as I can tell, he's not a working public servant at the moment.

Just surprised me that he is so hard on Bill Clinton and the Canadian PM.

Ed Rendell was a good Philadelphia mayor and a good Pennsylvania governor, but his mouth has a history of running off the road.
The difference is that someone like Rendell will own it, apologize, and walk it back. Someone like Trump will double-down on the insult, blame women for being oversensitive, attack "political correctness" for oppressing him, and then claim he never said it even when confronted with the tape.

I'm actually starting to see TRUMP 2016 signs on lawns around town now. I'm not surprised there are Trump supporters; I'm surprised there are Trump supporters that are willing to declare it publicly.

I'm not even surprised there are Trump supporters that are willing to declare it publicly. And I more ascared than surprised that now that they've found their numbers they're itching for the chance to scream it from the rooftops. It feels like a threat. Yes it is surprising, because the possibility of having your property damaged, burned, looted, vandalized, fired into, etc, greatly goes up if you put out a "Trump" sign. Makes you wonder which side is truly made up of the lowest form of the species?Smoove_B wrote:I'm surprised there are Trump supporters that are willing to declare it publicly.

In other news
I find it interesting that Trump is going after Bill Clinton and his supposed treatment of women, considering the fact that one of his ex-wives swore under oath that he raped her.

And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

Re: The Art of the Donald Trumpocalypse
I counted 300 houses along the route of my 3-mile daily walk. Two of them have Trump signs and none have Clinton signs. I can only deduce a Trump landslide with almost 1% of the vote compared to 0 for Hillary.RunningMn9 wrote:There are two or three around my town. I get that she's no Elizabeth Warren, and will seemingly bend to whatever she thinks voters want to hear (so basically like 99.9% of politicians), but is there something other than that? Please don't say "Benghazi"!

Re: The Art of the Donald Trumpocalypse
Whatever Clinton's faults, they are exacerbated by Clinton fatigue (we've known her since 1991) and by dedicated right-wing attacks warping the narrative all that time.
I'm happy to support her. I don't think she's perfect, but she's rock solid where she needs to be, and she has levels of knowledge and experience way above those of most candidates who make it this far. The comparison with Trump is nearly impossible because you can't find a common scale.
Sanders' strength was supposedly his integrity, but that flag is tattered as he appears willing to destroy the party if it won't give him the nomination unearned. Between his impossible promises, his limited range, and his new scorched-Earth strategy, I find Clinton to be the far more appealing candidate.

I've spoken about it in the past, so this is hardly something I just came out of the blue with.Carpet_pissr wrote:Something specific? My issues are not with Benghazi, email-gate, or any other GOP talking point that I feel have become toothless attacks. My issues are based on my perception of the Clintons as purveyors of the cronyism that I find so distasteful in politics (and while I acknowledge it has been a part of government from the moment Ogg fashioned a gavel out of a caribou bone and a rock, I feel the Clintons take it further than most), the numerous sketchy stories of the Clinton Foundation and its operations, and, most importantly, my intense dislike of political dynasties.
And yet I will vote for Hillary because no matter how much I dislike the Clintons, I absolutely loathe the concept of the Beige Bonehead sitting in the White House even more.

Point of order: Godwin's Law states that the probability of a comparison to Hitler/Nazism approaches certainty as an online discussion progresses, not that the discussion is over when it inevitably occurs.NickAragua wrote:On the plus side, I believe we can invoke Godwin's law so this thread can safely be closed now.hepcat wrote:I'm convinced Hitler would've been given a pass if he were alive today and simply told everyone his only crime was not being politically correct.

Re: The Art of the Donald Trumpocalypse
While I have some issues with Clinton, and I don't think she'll be as good a president as her husband (part of that due to the opposition), I like her at least as much, if not more, as I did Obama and Kerry when they ran, so I have no problem supporting her. And when compared to all her opponents, she only looks even better. And, indeed, I did a little bit of phone banking for her.
I do have an issue with putting up a lawn sign, though, as I have no lawn, so that would just look silly.
(OK, OK, so I don't have problems looking silly. I just can't be bothered.)

Mitt Romney ends recruiting efforts for an independent candidate:
CNN wrote:Washington (CNN) — Mitt Romney won't launch a third-party presidential campaign of his own and has stopped trying to recruit somebody else to do it.
The 2012 Republican nominee had attempted to recruit a challenger to Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. But prospects like Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse said no, and Romney is now dropping his efforts, a source familiar with Romney's thinking told CNN. The news was first reported by Yahoo News.
It's the latest blow to the "Never Trump" movement -- a group of conservatives led by Romney, blogger Erick Erickson and The Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol -- to find an alternative to Trump.
Romney still hopes a candidate will emerge. But an adviser to the "Never Trump" efforts confirmed Tuesday night that the efforts are looking grim.

Err, the #NeverTrump movement wasn't just about putting up a third party conservative candidate. It was about not voting for Trump and stopping him from getting the presidency. Of which many will probably still not vote for him - either by not voting, voting for another third party candidate, or even voting for Clinton.Anonymous Bosch wrote:Stick a fork in it, the #NeverTrump movement is officially done.
