Watching the segment, Penn didn't really portray Drumpf as "however bad you think he is, he's worse". I mean, he finished with that line, but the entirety of the rest of the video was no where near as critical. Don't get me wrong, he was critical, but not nearly as much as that line implies.

It was a good reminder that reality tv is just a play with actors and scripts and direction like any other tv show.

I've sat in the same room and on the same couch that Penn is giving that interview from.

Famous Tina Fey impersonatee has words of warning for Trump: Don't go getting all wishy-washy on us!
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, one of the first prominent Republicans to endorse Donald Trump‘s presidential campaign, warned Thursday of “massive disappointment” among the GOP nominee’s supporters if he continues to soften his immigration policies. In recent days, Mr. Trump has shifted away from calling for mass deportation of illegal immigrants to suggesting some could stay if they paid back taxes. “If Mr. Trump were to go down a path of wishy-washy positions taken on things that the core foundation of his support has so appreciated, and that is respecting our Constitution and respecting law and order in America, then yeah, there would be massive disappointment,” Mrs. Palin, the Republican nominee for vice president in 2008, said in a telephone interview with the Wall Street Journal. “Parts of that message we heard in the last week are clearly not consistent with the stringent position and message that supporters have received all along.”

So after Palin and Coulter deserting him, can Duke be far behind?

What concerns me now is the hard-line RepubliKlans getting together and promising themselves that their next candidate will be one who will not waver for anything.

We'll see. I suspect after this election the Republican establishment will be quick to quietly re-write their whole nominating process to make sure they can at least put a thumb on the scale in case someone even crazier decides to try to be the new Trump next election.

How brazenly they do it probably depends on how badly they get beat down ballot.

After railing on about voter fraud, wouldn't it be funny if Drumpf's new campaign manager was himself committing voter fraud?

It seems that Clinton and Trump have each decided to compete for moderate Republicans. They're the largest uncommitted group this year.

And if he did write the letter, to what purpose, as it wouldn't even count for an HR certified sick/healthy letter, and makes the doctor seem...terrible. On the national stage.

The article does some legwork to determine the doctor in question is not a member of the hospital mentioned, but how has no one tracked him down and spoken with him?

Donald Trump's personal physician said he wrote a letter declaring Trump would be the healthiest president in history in just five minutes while a limo sent by the candidate waited outside his Manhattan office.

Dr. Harold Bornstein, who has been the GOP nominee's doctor for 35 years, told NBC News on Friday that he stands by his glowing assessment of the 70-year-old's physical state.

Lol. Let the public mocking continue.

And of course someone asked him about his reference to being a member of a certain hospital and division of that hospital where no record of him was found?

A small oversight, I'm sure.

If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency," Bornstein wrote.

Asked how he could justify the hyperbole, Bornstein said, "I like that sentence to be quite honest with you and all the rest of them are either sick or dead."
So... he has certified that Donald Trump is currently healthier than Jimmy Carter and Martin Van Buren. Got it.

I like the idea that someone told the Orange one he'd need a notice from his doctor saying he was healthy and they just randomly sent someone over to just get it real quick. In the well thought out and meticulous manner we expect of Presidents. Good grief - everything about this man is a bizarre joke.

Nice mischaracterizations.
Bornstein said that after he was asked to write the letter, he thought about what he would say all day but did not type it out until the last minute as a black car sent by Trump waited to collect it. He said he didn't even proofread it.

The doctor said he would not normally use such over-the-top language in a letter for a patient but he made an exception for Trump — who just two weeks before had tweeted that the doctor's assessment would show "perfection."
When he sat down to write the letter, Bornstein — who said he is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology — gushed that Trump's lab results were "astonishingly excellent." He state that the businessman's "cardiovascular status is excellent" but noted that he was taking a low dose of aspirin and a low dose of a cholesterol-busting statin.

His blood pressure was a healthy 110/65, and a PSA test used to detect prostate cancer was "very low."

"His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary," the doctor wrote.

In the interview with NBC News, Bornstein moderated his language.
"I don't think he's in any better or worse than the average person that goes and exercises every single day," he said. "Doesn't smoke, doesn't drink — and that's simply the best advantage you can have to live — and he's got a good family history."

Trump campaign spokesman Jason Miller rejected any insinuation that the length of time taken to write the letter reflects on the finding that Trump is healthy. "Dr. Bornstein has been Mr. Trump's doctor for decades and is already familiar with his excellent health records," Miller said.

As a RN, i say who cares about his lab results and his cardiovascular status.

The fact that he doesn't drink or smoke would mean more to me than what lab work shows or if his blood pressure is normal.

I have taken care of thousands of people over the years with perfect blood work, blood pressure, and cardiovascular health that have heart attacks or develops cancer or other medical conditions.

This whole argument about how healthy he is means nothing and i don't get the point.

This week I had a co-worker who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and will be dead by next summer. She's a healthy 39 year old woman who's never been sick a day in her life. That fact means absolutely nothing now, does it.

Maybe I'm missing the point but I'm not getting it.

The point is to contrast the Trumpian narrative that Clinton is near death (because she uses chairs) with the doctor's report that Trump is literally the healthiest person ever to run for President and probably also the healthiest human who ever lived.

It's not about medicine but about absurdity.

The truth about Clinton's health.
In Hillary Clinton’s inner circle, it’s common knowledge that there are times she’s so low-energy that she blanks out for hours. When that happens, she is given to strange mental spells during which she has little or no control over what she says and does. She sometimes mutters things no one can understand.

My colleagues in the mainstream media are covering all this up, but the time has come to speak out. We simply can’t elect a president subject to such mysterious health issues.

What’s that you say?

It’s nothing?

It’s just that she . . . sleeps at night, like the rest of us.

If we're talking about Rip's post, I'd guess that he's referring to the previous posts mocking the doctor as being mischaracterizations of what the doctor said in the interview.

They'll vote Drumpf because...

It seems to me if Republicans would get the hell out of everyone's bedrooms they might have a chance to come out on top. Republicans, get the fuck out of my bedroom, period, my daughters and their decisions, and my marriages and we may find we agree on some issues.

As far as that doctor goes, I'll just repeat something that I heard on a news show last night. I forget who they were interviewing, but the guy said, "that doctor looks like the alien studies guy from 'Independence Day'". A very fitting description.

It's just...I can understand the excuse for making typos when you have 5 minutes to write a letter ("to whom my concern"...yeah, that's silly and non-consequential). But I don't think I've ever met a (reputable) medical professional that would say "his lab results are all positive" and mean it in a good way.
