The two minute wood fired Neapolitan pizza has become a thing here in the last year. We went from no places like that a few mom and pop joints to 3 different small national chains in the last two years. I yet to try one.
As neat as it is, I don't think I could warrant $300 for pizza oven, where I'd have to find space and maintain it when so many of these places are popping. I'd break down and a get smoker for that space and price first... Then I'd start making my own jerky...

Re: Random randomness
I only recently bumped into "fast" pizza as a thing here in Maine, under the guise of Pizza Degree. They've only got two locations so far, but it's an interesting model.
They only deal in plastic, no cash, and the pizza is done in a few minutes from start to finish. They're set up like Subway - you pick a dough type, then the toppings from a bar of choices, and then they cook it in a few minutes at 600ºF in a rotating wood-fired oven. The finished product is pretty good for $9.
I don't think I'd spring for a portable oven just to superheat pizza, though.

We got a Blaze Pizza franchise that opened a few months ago. They were giving out free pizza on their opening day, it was pretty good, but I haven't had a chance to go back since.

I think they're 900 - 1000 degrees in two minutes here. I assume the chains are also set up like Subway but I've never been in one. Prices I've seen advertised vary from $5 for a personal pizza at carry out type station go to much more expensive for am M&P sit down restaurant at part of a meal with wait staff.Paingod wrote:I only recently bumped into "fast" pizza as a thing here in Maine, under the guise of Pizza Degree. Maybe I'll make an excuse to go out and try one over the holidays.
Blaze is one the chains that opened several locations here this year. http://www.1000degreespizza.com/ is another. Then every township seems to have another older sitdown place that has opened in the last two years, that you never really noticed until the chains started popping up.gilraen wrote:We got a Blaze Pizza franchise that opened a few months ago. Listening to Yaz' Upstairs at Eric's. It was a different time. I liked that time, a lot.
It's been a while since I sat and listened to a full album. I think I listened to one full album in 2016 (from 2016 at that) and it didn't grab me.

/Reminds self to check out what she's up to these daysMorning this morning the curtains are shut
I'll ring you in the morning but the phone's been cut
Can you hear me I've been calling all day
Can you hear me
The radio reporter said the line's all dead
He told me that I oughta write a letter instead
Can you hear I've been calling all day
Can you hear me
I'd wish they'd fix the wires cause my baby won't know
That I'm leaving in the morning and I'm ready to go
Can you hear me
Can you hear me at all
Gotta get the operator make a telephone call
And if I write a letter it won't get there on time
I'll only reach you baby on the telephone line

Real folks eat pizzas that are carved out of dough, slathered in RED tomato sauce and smothered in chunks of meat and layers of heart stopping cheese. And many of us do it while driving a tractor trailer with our free hand!

White pizza, 4 cheese pizza, tomato sauce, chili dog chili (with coney dog slices, mustard, and a mix of white cheese and cheddar), I can hang with a lot of different kinds of pizza. Even the kind in Chicago where they mix a thick, what seems like an almost spaghetti sauce, with the toppings, which aren't really toppings when they are part of the innards.hepcat wrote:Ah, the "Hipster Deluxe". Anchovies are an old pizza standard! You can dislike them, but you can't dismiss them as some sort of pineapplean innovation.
Now I'm remembering a 1950's or early 60's Mad magazine treatment of pizza. I think anchovies featured prominently in the discussion of what was then a weird new food trend.

If you put more than three toppings on a pizza you are a Philistine and I hope you burn the roof of your mouth so badly you can't even eat your garbage pie.
Extra cheese does NOT count toward those three toppings.

Yeah yeah yeah, a Jet's 10...what do you think of their pizzas since the son took over?

They've always been pricey and a rare treat both because of my health and because of my wallet. You'd think with all those ingredients just sitting on top, it would mitigate the calories and bad cholesterol. Nope.
I didn't know there was a change. It does seem like somewhere in the last few years, they 1) changed oils somewhere, 2) don't raise the crust as much any more (less of it?), which brings down their score on achieving the perfect texture flavor miasma score in a fast food pizza. And yeah, the price is crazy. Something like $25 for an extra large on special. $29 without being on special.
I've not tried anything but the pepperoni or 10. It's hard not to treat myself to exactly what I want when it's available. When it comes to any food establishment. I find what I love and then I don't deviate because what I love is a treat. Others hate Applebee's and Red Robin because reasons. I hate them because I find something I love and then it's gone and they have been forever tainted. I still want my Santa Fe salad from Applebee's and Cajun Clucks with waffle fries from Red Robin. Dammit, I still want my Wheat fingers and honey butter from Ruby Tuesday's. It's no wonder you shut down half your stores. No wheat fingers and honey butter. Duh!

I know you have to tell people and I know people seem to get dumber by the day but as Im reading the label to my condensed milk I see these two lines together just as i type them here.

WARNING contains MILK!
Really?
I also noticed a sticker on my floor heater.....DO NOT COVER. Well well I didn't know that...glad I was told not to cover an extremely hot appliance with something flammable.

Re: Random randomness
So, I flew back from Toronto last night on American. What a miserable experience! Besides the obligatory delays which led to me getting home three hours after I should, it felt like the most cramped space I've experienced flying. There couldn't have been more than 18 inches between the seat back and my chest. My knees just brushed the seat in front of me if I sat bolt upright, otherwise I had to twist to have any legroom. The jackhole in front of me waited until just after I got my laptop out to do some work before he reclined his seat as much as possible, making it impossible for me to even see my screen. I haven't been so miserable on a flight in forever.
Seriously, I'd pay extra for a flight in which they locked the seats upright so I wouldn't feel stabby for 5 hours.

I'll try anything on a pizza once, although barbecue sauce is not a favorite. Sausage and bacon are the fastest way to ruin a pizza. I've yet to try white pizza, as there isn't anywhere around here that offers it.

When you pull a shirt out to wear, and find it's a little wrinkled and you're short on time, it's not so bad to iron it right on your torso if you're wearing an undershirt. Just never hit the "steam shot" button out of habit. That stuff passes right through both layers of clothing and scalds your skin.
