Straight from the horse's mouth, allegedly:Daehawk wrote:Canada dry ginger ale says its made with real ginger but there is no ginger listed in the ingredients.
In other words, what Blackhawk said. The amount and source of our natural flavors is considered proprietary information. The “natural flavors” listed on the ingredient statement contains flavor from many types of real ginger roots. The ginger flavor in ginger ale is extracted from the ginger roots and then blended with other citrus flavors to produce the unique flavor in ginger ale. Since the ginger flavor is combined with natural flavors, we chose to label the combination “natural flavors” on the ingredient statement.
At the end of the day it's acidic sugar-water, just like every other soda. And compared to a real ginger ale, it's pretty much flavourless.

Being the Shiner aficionado that I am, I was looking forward to this beer. I like pink grapefruit juice. Used to drink it regularly. Imagine my disappointment when all I got out of it was ginger beer.

Re: Random randomness
Jif is peanut butter, after which they named the file extension. So from the mouths of the people who coined the word, 'jif' is the correct way to say it.Daehawk wrote:Ive always said GIF in my head. JIF is peanut butter.
Of course, that argument ignores the fact that language isn't static. We all know that 'house mouse' is pronounced 'hooosuh moosuh', just like when the words originated, and 'thou' is pronounced 'thoo' with an unvoiced 'th' as in 'with.'
So, yeah. Pronounce it whichever way you prefer, and if people know what you're talking about, congratulations - you pronounced it right.

It makes my fingers itch when I see a thread title that has expired. (Film) Movie Name - Trailer is no longer a useful name. We stopped talking about the trailers 2 years ago when the movie was released, and now we're talking about the re-re-release of it on Netflix and a few people who just saw it.
Also, I prefer to eat salads one veggie group at a time and enjoy lining up "things I'm not eating" at the edge of my plate as I work through a meal. I used to eat italian sandwiches one layer at a time until all that was left was meat, cheese, and bread until I got tired of people staring. My immediate family members think it's funny.

The Trump Presidency Thread (131 pages — you think there may be a more reasonable way to split up this one topic so non-hardcore R&Pers could follow along without devoting their lives to it?)
Is it Too Soon To Start Thinking About 2016? (55 page thread started in November 2012 — maybe the OP couldn't have guessed this would've been the thread which would grow legs...)
There's tons to hate about how we identify our threads and where we do our discussin'. Topic titles with short lifespans are a good place to start the roundup.

Thank you! Exactly. (By the way, I also fired that show in the middle of Season 2. Though MHS tells me it's worth watching again, I've taken a Jeff V one-chance policy to my television viewing options.)

Re: Random randomness
I'm much more ok with loosey goosey post organization. Sure, finding specific information can sometimes be hard, and yes, seeing a thread titled after the original game/movie/book while the conversation is about it's sequel or whatever is a bit of a mess, I don't really care all that much.
I put in a modicum of effort so that my posts are at least tangentially related to the thread I put them in, even necro'ing threads instead of creating a new one when I feel my post doesn't warrant an entire new thread, but that's it. If the post ends up in the wrong place, well, we'll survive it, somehow.
I can understand how the more organized of you would be driven nuts by this, but it's a pretty organic forum, not a library.
Good luck with your efforts. I'll try not to undermine them too much. Not intentionally anyway.
