Unless President Pence has been sworn in, "literally" literally doesn't mean what you think it means.

While anxiety is understandably high, I will say it's good to step away from the social and news aspects of the Internet for a week at a time. The world is humming along with DJT as POTUS. He sucks. He's doing harm but his impending collapse of the union is a lot less tense when you constantly aren't part of the 8 hours news cycle. Our collective addiction to be informed (whether about reality or not) is really doing its number on our mental health, if I am at all indicative of a larger subset.
True, but the counterpoint would be that low-information people are by and large what got you into this situation in the first place. Ignoring a problem won't make it go away.

Yes, I know. Thank you for also explaining the joke and thereby taking away teh funny. Anyway, this about sums up my view on celebrities using their fame to get involved with politics:

By my book, copyright about 1941, I am a decent guy, by your book I'm definitely not. Here's another one, surely you can't object to a now fatherless boy receiving a hug from the POTUS?
Is Trump capable of taking a picture without looking creepy or inappropriate?

People with way too much time on their hands. Everyone running around with their cameras out hoping something happens so they can post it on YouTube. There's no point in even holding these meetings since it will only attract the riff raff from both sides to be obnoxious.

Let's be serious. If it were Obama or Hillary in Trump's place, you and Rip would be going to town about how he was just using the family as a photo op too. That or making vaguely racist or sexist comments. It's what you do.
But yeah, he's just using that family for a photo op. He's incapable of any kind of selfless act that doesn't ultimately end up with his ego or his wallet getting fed.
I don't think I can make this any clearer: Trump is dangerously unhinged. He is the single worst thing to happen to this country since the series finale of Seinfeld. Someday you're going to realize that, but you'll probably never admit it. Well...maybe the Seinfeld thing, at least.

I hate to defend Trump, because I'd rather see him exiled, but anyway. It hasn't happened often, but it seems like his interactions with children are the one place he is genuine. He appears to become a different person. Maybe it's all an act, a variation on the kissing babies thing, but I actually think it's real.

He sees the world as they see the world and they are his intellectual equals. He doesn't feel a need to prove himself to them.

As a rule I like Kathy Griffin and have found her funny in the past. I thought she went too far with the Trump head, but the little pity party she just threw herself turned me off completely.
I spent 90% of the money I made on women, booze, and drugs. The other 10% I just pissed away.
Blech. I've never found Kathy Griffin funny. She's everything that is stereotypically terrible about female comedians.
And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

That was a really bad press conference. She did the right thing by apologizing immediately, but I can't imagine why someone told her that going out there again and blaming the Trumps for being mean to her was a good idea. Shut up, and go away. People will be distracted in a few months, and maybe you'll be able to get back to work again.
