Because those are the words they got threatened by the Tolkien estate for. The origin of 'orc' has been argued over forever, with even etymologists disagreeing on the origin.

At this point, though, nobody can make a case for 'orc' being copyrighted.

Which ruled out the whole company, of course. We all had a good laugh and went right on making our game.
I didn't think you'd get in trouble until you used words, like hobbit and orc, which were Tolkien creations. To this day, I wonder how D&D got away with orcs but changed things like hobbit to halfling and ent to treant and the like.
Lords of Magic really derived more from AD&D, but modern fantasy conventions all trace back to Tolkien. They get away with it because Tolkien himself drew heavily on folklore.

I don't remember the particulars because while most of the company worked on LoM, I was on a tiny team making Civil War Generals.

The building across the street is home to Backcountry.com, and my window looks out on their entrance. Every day, there is this parade of incredibly fit, beautiful people walking in and out of that building. In 2 years, I doubt I've ever seen anyone over the age of 25 or greater than 8% body fat go in their front door. About half the people bring their dogs to work. Twice a week, their parking lot is filled with outdoor retailer vendor tents, food trucks, or barbecues. A few minutes ago, I heard a cheer go up from the crowd gathered in front of the door...someone had just finished doing a kegstand. And I get to watch this every day as I sit in my office writing proposals or listen to conference calls with government contracting officers.

While I don't meet the apparent beauty or weight standards, I have to admit there's times where it's awfully tempting to just walk across the street and ask if I can please, please, please just have a job there.

My mower broke about 3 years ago. I have to use my weedeater to mow. It takes me about 3 hours. It took me a bit over 2 with the mower. So when I do the yard Im tired. im hot and thirsty and need a break but Im not dead feeling.

but when i simply take my shower I feel twice as tired. my heart is pounding and Im sweating from heat. Im truly so tired that i dont want to go wherever I cleaned up to go lol. I dotn get why its so much more tiring that mowing.

Our land used to be too rough to mow and I had to use a hand weedeater.
Now we have a real yard but when my lawnmower broke I use my DR push mower. It's still harder than a lawnmower but a hell of a lot better and a hand weedeater.
I got a riding mower but it breaks every year and I have to do the lawn by hand until I get it fixed.
My stepson won't mow the lawn with anything but the riding mower as the others hurt his hands and feet.

omg! oh my god! omg! that was THE best chicken I've ever had. Each breast was the size of both my hands together. I cut them in half then prepared them. SO tender. I cut them with a fork the same thin way as if I had a sharp knife...just slid through...melted in our mouth..omg

Oh almost forgot...Baked chicken ranch Parmesan. I mixed ranch dressing mix with mayo and shredded parm and coated the breasts in that then panko bread crumbs. No salt added. I can still hardly believe that 5 HUGE chicken breasts were just $8. And the store i get these meats at do not add any preserving salt fluids or anything. All fresh meats.

We can't be friends any more. I had one a few weeks ago, the last time I went, because it was what they were offering as the $5 Cravings meal. It was terrible. Even if I could warrant going to Taco Bell frequently, I would wait until they move to the next thing so their $5 Cravings meal would change to that thing because, yuck.

I love Taco Bell chalupas  I don't think I ever had the double one, though. I usually get a crunchwrap or quesarito when I go.

I'll have to check into the new "label craft" Mtn Dew, I haven't seen it before. I'm still pissed off that they won't sell Mtn Dew Baja Blast in stores. They ran a voting contest last year, where people picked if they wanted Pitch Black or Baja Blast to stay in grocery stores, and Pitch Black supposedly won...because people have no taste :D

The crunchwrap as part of the $5 Craving meal was a good deal. That thing was a tasty meal itself and all I really need to eat and it came with a burrito and a Doritos Taco as well. Way more than I should eat in a meal, much less with a Pepsi on the side.

My preference on the modern menu is the Pizza though. I'm not paying nearly $6 for it, so it sits on the menu and taunts me.

Just for grins, I bought a "premium" Google Cardboard compatible VR goggle where you stick in your own Android phone.

I was actually quite impressed the amount of detail they can squeeze into such an app, if the developer want to. They can make it polygon-y, pixel-y, or nearly photo-realistic.

Obviously this is not true VR as there's virtually no motion and interaction is "nah" (Cardboard has ONE button, period) but just to look around a virtual landscape (or seascape, or space scape...) it's actually pretty impressive what the $15 "VR goggle" can achieve with your smartphone.

Apparently experiencing 0 change in mood, energy, concentration, gitteriness, etc... and no downs at the end of the day when you take 30 MG of stimulant methylphenidate a day is perplexing, especially when you still drink 20 to 40 oz of coffee a day. And now, no more prescribed stimulants for me. Ah well...

Bleeping bleep of a bleep.

The downstairs neighbor just dropped by. They bought a yard sale microwave, brought it home, and a horde of roaches swarmed out. Now they're going to have to bug bomb their apartment as well as mine. That means all of the clothing, bedding, electronics, and miniatures are going to have to be either sealed or removed, and I'll get to spend three to five hours sitting outside, followed by scrubbing and vacuuming every surface afterwards.

And I don't get to pick the day.

Not ideal, but at least they're doing the right thing (treating the whole unit). I've lost track of the number of situations I saw in apartments where only one unit would be treated and the roaches would flee into the neighboring apartments...and then come back. They're not stupid.

You do a ton more work around bug bombing than I do. I covered or sealed up dishes and pantry items but I did little to nothing about bedding and clothing. Then a quick wipe down afterwards.

When my phone rings at 10:30, it's never a good thing. Dad just called, and the initial results from his biopsy came back. Liver cancer, 12 spots.

He goes in tomorrow to talk with an oncologist at Huntsman Cancer Center, and we'll find out more at that point. What stage, treatment options, etc. I just spent the last few minutes looking up mortality rates, which was probably the wrong thing to do.

Fuck you, cancer.
