It was a banner day in the skinypupy household. Little B 8.5 finally took her training wheels off. About 2 years late, but better late than never.

Both the Wonder Twins 4.2 used the potty on their own for the first time, including a poop. And we made it through an entire day with no accidents. That's MAJOR progress...they wouldn't use the toilet at all until today. As recently as Friday, we were talking about looking into child psychologists because literally nothing we were doing for potty training was having any effect. Again, two years behind, but better late then never.

Good to know my kids aren't entirely remedial.

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are separating:
"Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward," Pratt posted on his Facebook page. Pratt's publicist confirmed the separation to CNN.

"We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another."

The couple has been married for eight years. They have one child together.

It doesn't bother me and doesn't pull my heart strings, either. I don't think I've ever flipped stations because it's on but nor have I stopped to lose myself in it.

It scores a perfect meh as much as anything meh can be considered perfect.

My streak of 27 years accident free finally came to an end tonight. :(

Some dumb-ass kid sideswiped me in the rec center parking lot. No injuries (doubt either of us was going 10mph), but it did a hell of a number of my driver's side door. I felt kinda bad for him...and what this is going to do to his insurance premiums.

It's easy to forget how far and we've come so fast technologically until you have to deal with someone who requires you to send a fax... by fax machine... and you have to wait for the dial tone, and the ring, and the handshake, and the time it takes to send 7 pages of .tif across a modem, and get an acknowledgement by across a modem....

I'm baffled by the fact that we still have a physical fax in my office but it gets used and I'm thankful for it about once every other year when a medical, insurance, or financial institution insist on me using it, which is to say nothing of the twice a year I seem to need to use it for work purposes.

That's what MFDs are for. I enter the number (or select from a list of recently used and pre-programmed numbers), hit go, it scans the pages and gives them back and then I go back to work. Whenever I get around to it I go back and get the "receipt."

North Texas
A Denton County police department wants Whataburger customers to stop stealing the restaurants' orange plastic order numbers.

The Northeast Police Department, which serves Cross Roads and Krugerville, said in a Facebook post Saturday that it's a "game" for area teens to take the numbers.

"The issue has become very apparent when we ... at times possess more of these numbers than the restaurant does," the department said.

In one photo, the department showed a side-by-side comparison of the large stack of numbers they recovered in one case, compared with the few remaining at a Whataburger.

Those 70 numbers were recovered during an unrelated traffic stop about two weeks ago, Northeast Police Chief James Edland told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

"Whataburger is ordering a new bundle [of the numbers] every week because they disappear so fast," he said. "It might be a cool thing to do, but it's still stealing."
Houston
In what is arguably the most bizarre use of stolen restaurant equipment, the Houston Police Department has announced that it will no longer use table tents acquired from Whataburger as evidence markers at crime scenes across the city.

The practice was never official department policy, but the Department has now instructed its officers to stay away from using items with logos as evidence markers, according to the Houston Chronicle. "We got a lot of concerns as to whether Whataburger was endorsing us or whether we were endorsing Whataburger and whether they were a sponsor of the police department,” spokeswoman Jodi Silva told the paper.

The Department says its use of table tents as crime scene markers was born out of necessity, with officers using random items found in the area to protect evidence, including discarded coffee cups and takeout containers. Because Whataburger is on virtually every corner in Houston, the restaurant’s iconic table tents make for a quality placeholder until the Houston Forensic Center’s crime scene unit can place official evidence markers.

Looking at THIS Star Trek galaxy map how can anyone compete with the Federation?? Look at the number of planets in each Empire then compare to the Feds. Impossible.

 ... 100 year old fruit cake found in Antartica

<snip>
Antarctic Heritage Trust conservators found a 100 year old fruit cake among the artefacts from Cape Adare.

Made by Huntley & Palmers, the fruit cake is still wrapped in paper and encased in the remains of a tin-plated iron alloy tin. The cake probably dates to the Cape Adare-based Northern Party of Scott’s Terra Nova expedition (1910 – 1913) as it has been documented that Scott took this particular brand of cake with him at that time. Although the tin was in poor condition, the cake itself looked and smelt (almost) edible.

That is a map of canon locations (mostly stars.) Most of Star Trek canon is about the Federation. It is a reasonable assumption that the other areas have just as many important locations.

The wife and I are in the process of furnishing her new apartment in Phoenix.

Consequently, we just spent nearly two hours in an Ikea for the first time ever.
It's not really that bad except for the mad press of humanity you have to make your way through.

We managed to get out of there with a new futon, coffee table, kitchen table with four chairs, a queen sized bedframe, two night stands, and two reading lamps for under $850 and that's with them picking out all of the furniture and delivering it.

Off of the map. Look in the upper right - Tholia is to the 'southwest' of the map. The Gorn are due 'south' of the Klingon Empire, the little tan blob right next to Cestus.

Woke up and cant hear as well out of my right ear. Sounds like half my hearing in that ear is gone. Ive cleaned it and cleaned it and ran warm water and alcohol into it multiple times. Still the same. Nothing comes out and nothing is crawling around. Just seem to have part of my ear capped off to sound. Maybe its swollen. Will have to have the doc look next visit. But damn losing part of your hearing instantly overnight is damn strange and hard to get used to.
