That obit headline for Pres Monson is asinine. Yes, he (and the whole LDS church) has had its share of bad behavior, but the guy (and the church) did and does a hell of a lot of good in the world as well.

To focus solely on those two data points is absolutely ridiculous.

As much as the LDS guy's obit might be unfair to him, it should be clear to anyone that the Castro headline isn't intended to sum up his whole legacy. Castro's story is huge, and the paper expects you to know that.

To present this as "a tale of two obituaries" indicting NYT (or LIBERAL ELITIST OMG!!1!) bias is just silly.

You guys need to find a better target. Drumpf has won the most terribad president evar by several orders of magnitude.

Drumpf has out stupided Obama's entire 8 years just this morning.

On the plus side, no one is going to complain about Bush ever again, so that's sort of a consolation prize.

I don't know if you recall, but Bush was also against careless generalisations about Islam, and that was during an actual large scale terrorist attack and it's aftermath.

It was his finest moment of his leadership of the free world, imo.

Maybe the Mormon dude was relevant to some of their readers and/or staff?

It's my understanding that one lived in America and worked to make some Americans' lives worse, and the other was a dictator that refused to be a puppet of America. Admittedly there's not much worse than a dictator that won't play ball.

I can tell you right now that I have a lot more negative things to say about my neighbour bob than I do about some American Mormon dude, so maybe it's a relevancy thing?

As an American whose life was directly affected by Mormon dude's attempts to make some of our lives worse, I will state that Castro was far, far, far worse. He tried to get the Russians to nuke the US during the Cuban Missile Crisis, to the extent that the Russians thought he was insane.

Presumably this will be thrown out/disallowed the first time a judge sees it.

Hilariously, Google is currently being sued by several women for discriminating against women. I realize that the details probably make sense, but on the surface, I find it funny that a company can be guilty of discriminating against both genders at the same time.
