Have you been to the Logan Theater on Milwaukee since they renovated it? It's really quite nice.

That used to be my approach as well, but dead salivary glands means that I can't go long without a drink. It also means that I can't see most films without at least two bathroom breaks.
That would kill going to theaters for me. I can't stand missing part of the movie to get up and go.

That's one of the pleasures of living alone and having a DVR (cause I'm too cheap to both get streaming services and maintain cable/Internet). I stop movies constantly because I'm distracted, thirsty, need to pee, think of something I need to look up on the Internet, get a call, or decide I'm just not into what I'm watching right now.

That convenience and not feeling a pressing need to see anything, in particular, has mostly killed the movies for me.

It sucks. I usually try to 'prep' by switching from drinking to sipping a couple of hours in advance, and try to time it so that I can go right before the previews start in order to only need to get up once more.
What doesn't kill me makes me stranger.

Matinees are a thing of the past here. There is no price break.
The AMC theatres here have so many price points, there's really no one "matinee" time anymore. Before 10:30am, it might be around $5.60 (with tax) - that seems to be the cheapest option. An hour later, it's like $7.60. For the rest of the day, it's all over the place, from $10 to $19.

There are only 2 of us, though, and we both signed up for MoviePass, so ticket price is irrelevant, as long as we stick to non-IMAX 2-D showings. All non-IMAX auditoriums in both AMC theatres near us got nice recliner chairs, which is great, except it means that the theater can now fit a third of the people than it used to. Because MoviePass only lets you buy tickets for the same day - and you have to be physically at the theater to do it - it can be really hard to find tickets to popular movies on weekends, unless I drive to the theater first thing in the morning to get tickets for a showing later in the evening.

Here its $5.50 all day Tuesday. The rest of the time matinees are 4-6 and are $6.30. Regular are $8.00. And if you are a senior you save a whopping .20 cents. Mega and 3d are more by like $2 and $4

Can't do it. I just hate missing any of a movie or TV show. If we're watching something on the couch and my wife makes a comment, I'll often rewind just the couple of seconds that it took me to process and respond, just in case I missed something. If I fast forward through the commercials on a show and cut into a show during the scene setting shot (i.e., nothing has happened - maybe the exterior of the building their in with some music), I back it up so I catch the fade in. It would cause my head to explode if I left for a couple of minutes to pee, even if some app told me that there was nothing important happening then.

I tried to time my breaks during less action. First was at the casino so I have no idea what happened to the original flower man they needed. Second was at the old base. When i got back they were cutting across the desert on old speeders. What was that red crystal on that planet? Looked way cool.

Im craving red eye gravy and Ive talked the wife into it and she has never had it before. But we are not coffee drinkers and dont even have a coffee maker. Is instant coffee ok and if so is there a brand that is better than others? Ive never made it before but its basically ham drippings, black coffee, and water or chicken stock.

All instant coffee is terrible, but that shouldn't matter since you're using it for a terrible purpose. The crystal form is a little less awful than the powder kind.

Lately I've seen a couple of articles about how crows (generally regarded as the most intelligent birds) can use simple tools to fish for bugs.

Since birds are dinosaurs, isn't it at least possible that (without the meteor catastrophe) large dinosaurs might eventually have become tool users?

Why not? It's reasonable to believe that dinosaurs spanned the gamut of animal intelligence. Given tens of thousands of species over tens of millions of years, some of them probably figured out clever ways to use rocks and sticks...if they hadn't gone extinct, maybe some would have evolved primate-level sentience.

A better question might be Why? It remains to be seen whether human-style intelligence will prove to be a successful adaptation in the long run. We're still an upstart species and our ultimate fate is an open question. Some hold up the Fermi Paradox as evidence that intelligence is an evolutionary dead end.

My recollection is that one rebel touched his finger to a red footprint, tasted what stuck to his finger and stated 'salt'. Assuming my memory of a single viewing is not too off, that would suggest that the red is the salt. Logic + science would dictate that the white is an oxidized form of the salt. Or maybe simply a dust layer on top of the salt.

In any case, it sure made episode 8's version of episode 5's death star run dang purty.

Alcatraz
A letter allegedly written by one of the escapees recently came to light. CBS San Francisco exclusively obtained it from a source.

"My name is John Anglin. I escape from Alcatraz in June 1962 with my brother Clarence and Frank Morris. I'm 83 years old and in bad shape. I have cancer. Yes we all made it that night but barely!"

The FBI says this is the most recent piece of evidence that forced the agency to reopen the iconic cold case. The letter was sent to the San Francisco Police Department's Richmond station in 2013.
...
According to the letter, Frank died in 2008 and John's brother died three years later. The writer makes a deal – "If you announce on TV that I will be promised to first go to jail for no more than a year and get medical attention, I will write back to let you know exactly where I am. This is no joke…"

The U.S. Marshals, which is the sole agency investigating the case today, says the FBI lab examined the letter for fingerprints and DNA, and the handwriting.

The FBI's results were inconclusive.
...
As for the U.S. Marshals, they tell CBS San Francisco they consider this lead closed with no merit.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

According to a KTVU television report posted Thursday night, a Novato resident was the target of a fake emergency phone call to Novato first-responders on Jan. 13. The call, which was a hoax, resulted in police swarming Brian Stauffer’s Pacheco Valle neighborhood.

Stauffer, an illustrator, creates art for national magazines and newspapers that is often political in nature. He believes recently published work critical of President Trump may have led to the call, a practice known as “swatting.”

The caller described a shooting after reporting an argument between and mother and father.
That is awful on several levels. Ugh.

I have always agreed. Someone dies its murders. Just the call its attempted murder. Whatever you charge them with they should be taken out of society away from normal people they can do harm to.

The only nouns I recognize in this post are break, while, contract, surprise, and end. I think MMA is Ecstasy and WWE has something to do with wildlife, so it's probably really interesting.
