Andy Borowitz says there will be no parade. The military can't make it due to bone spurs.

I read somewhere a mention that the Pentagon sees a grand parade as a possibility in November.

If it's late November that's one thing, but if it's the weekend before the election then Mattis deserves a huge "Fuck You" for caving to Trump's campaign rally authoritarianism.

They’re targeting Veterans Day, which would be almost a full week after Election Day.

"We saw a targeting of 21 states and an exceptionally small number of them were actually successfully penetrated," Manfra told NBC.
ANY number of state voting systems penetrated by the Russians is not exceptionally small, but rather alarmingly large.

They likely didn’t do any alteration of actual votes, but I imagine there was A LOT of ad targeting on social media platforms based on the demographic data gathered.

But hey, no big deal. Total nothingburger, right?

A small number of states Trump won by less than 1%: Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan? The states Trump surprised everyone by winning?

The GOP will deny this has any meaning while insisting millions of illegals voted, despite many studies to the contrary.

While there will always be that chunk of the population who won't be reached. One thing out of this year is that Republicans have straight up lost the moral majority tag and service member strangle hold they've cleaved to for my lifetime. Between Trump, direct contradiction of compassionate conservatism, body cams, shifting demographics, etc. WASP fundamentalism just isn't the monolith it once was.

Will be heading over shortly to make remarks at The National Prayer Breakfast in Washington. Great religious and political leaders, and many friends, including T.V. producer Mark Burnett of our wonderful 14 season Apprentice triumph, will be there. Looking forward to seeing all!

I've had a theory for a while, backed by small amounts of anecdotal data gathered from Trumpers I've met, that the people who are most in the bag for Drumpf are the ones who watched the Apprentice and actually bought into the idea that Drumpf was some sort of business genius rather than an actor playing a role.

Trump has been great for the Democrats.

Democrats flipped a Missouri state House seat Tuesday, marking the 35th seat that has changed from red to blue since Donald Trump became president.

Mike Revis, 27, defeated his Republican opponent in a special election Tuesday by 3 percentage points.

The 97th District in Jefferson County went for Trump in the presidential election by 28 points. The area is historically Democratic but has recently tilted Republican.

In other words, the district has swung 31 percentage points toward Democrats since Trump won last year.

I never watched the show because I thought it was well established that Trump was a terrible businessman. It wasn't until the election that I realized a large number of people believed he was not only a successful businessman, but one of the best on the planet.

This has always been the silver lining for Democrats. Trump could destroy the Republican party and usher in a new era of progressive and liberal politicians. The trick is going to be making sure he doesn't destroy the country in the process, not to mention all of the individual lives he's certainly ruining in the process.

I am very ashamed of the way him and this administration has handled Puerto Rico. There are still over 440,000 people without power all these months. One little town has gathered their own people...teachers, repairmen, garbage workers...and started raising power poles and trying to string the old wires back up to get power. Elderly are sweltering in the heat and have no cold storage..you name it. NO POWER still. These are basically Americans and for some unknown reason to me nothing is being done. Theres not even any coverage of this happening. I find it deeply shameful.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/puerto-ric ... wer-coamo/
It took only minutes for Hurricane Maria to kill power to the Puerto Rican town of Coamo, cracking wooden poles, snapping power lines and hurling transformers to the ground. For months, residents begged Puerto Rico's power company and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to bring back their electricity -- with few results.

So the people of the town of 40,000 -- high in the mountains of southern Puerto Rico -- have started restoring power on their own, pulling power lines from undergrowth and digging holes for wooden posts in a do-it-yourself effort to solve a small part of the United States' longest-running power outage.

"If we don't do this, we'll be without power until summer," said Vice Mayor Edgardo Vazquez, who is using hand-drawn maps to organize a brigade that includes teachers, handymen, a postal worker and an accountant, backed by municipal workers with professional equipment, tools and experience in light electrical work.
Heres a little vid of what their Gov thought Trump would do for them back when it happened. look at Trump the asshole sit there totally disinterested. How anyone thinks he cares about anyone but himself I dont know. He is a moron...worse he is an egotistical moron. A narcissist.

We're a racist nation - end of story. If any state in the US had no power for any period even close to this long -- and had white people -- we'd have people up in arms about the incompetence of the government. Instead the media doesn't even bother to cover it. They don't even know how many people have died because of this. It is morally reprehensible so I agree - it is deeply shameful.

Makes me sick at my stomach and all I can do is shake my head at the arrogance and the stupidity. The uncaring the inhuman and the maddening unsympathetic view Americans and our Government have for Puerto Rico and her people.

I think race is certainly a factor in coverage - no way they'd get away with people still not having power in Texas, for example. However, the other part of it is that there's not enough room to cover all the stuff Trump has fucked up. In a "normal" Presidency, there would slow days to bring up ongoing criticism, much as Bush was criticized for Katrina. The media can barely finish pointing out one scandal in this administration before having to move on to the next one.

Sure they have wall to wall coverage of the scandal du jour. Despite that they still could find ways to communicate this stuff. A 'Days Without Power in PR' ticker in the bottom right of the screen. Anything at all. Instead they look right past it.

Curious what the impregnable liberal bastion that is OO thinks. I'm seeing a lot veterans turning their back on their Trump support over this parade nonsense. (I would have never guess that was going to be the straw) Do you welcome them in to the fold as woke or do you continue your attacks for not being woke before?

It's also interesting to watch "patriots" turn their backs on veterans to rally their continued support of a draft dodging president's flouting his military to stroke his... vanity.

I was already seeing this phenomena when I caught this on social media.

Hell, even Rip criticized Trump over the military parade nonsense.

That said, criticizing Trump over this parade doesn't really tell us much about whether they will support him in large numbers when it matters.

I can't speak to sides. Lord knows I'm not on Hillary's side or Pelosi's side and I despise Trump. But I'm seeing veterans turning their backs on Trump and in doing so their being attacked (ironically by those who see themselves as patriots yada yada yada yada), alienating them from "their own side" I guess.
