Don't forget, the MAGA Memorial Day sale is real and totally classy. Because The President of the United States of America telling you to use the code REMEMBER to get 25% off a #BuildtheWall T-shirt is totally the same thing as someone selling you a discount mattress.

He’s only got a few months before the con falls apart. He’s gonna milk this for all it’s worth. His suckers/supporters are gonna pay for Ivanka’s first divorce, and Melania’s prenup battle after she decides she’s put in her time.

When I was working regularly in the public sector, I refused to take even a glass of water from the business owners I was inspecting as a way to make sure there wasn't ever a question of inappropriate behavior. I'm sure this is totally legit though.
On Sunday, China granted the first daughter’s company final approval for its 13th trademark in the last three months, trademark office records show. Over the same period, the Chinese government has granted Ivanka Trump’s company provisional approval for another eight trademarks, which can be finalized if no objections are raised during a three-month comment period.

Oh Smoove. That's not corruption, that's smart business which will employ Americans and MAGA.

And remember, she's not involved in her company's daily operations. She just gets profits so how can there be a conflict of interest?

You must have missed actually going to the site. They were featuring Trump MAGA Memorial day swimwear and patriotic Trump/Pence beach towels.

GG caused me to go back and review something I hadn't looked at in over 30 years. In it I read the words "Cartel Capitalism" to describe the anti Nixon conservative disapproval of mixing government leverage with private business. A tool of democratic socialism to allow the billionaire class to enforce their will and to limit the exchange of ideas. It's like I'm in a timewarp, but rather than looking trying to understand how a time before I was born led me to the world of 1980s fiction, I'm seeing how the underground from before I was born has become guardian of and slave within the prison they have spent their whole lives trying to stay free of.

10-1 odds that Trump takes the Rosanne thing and uses it as another dog whistle. He will ignore what she said and say they cancelled it because she was a Trump supporter. Fox will then pickup Season 2. :P

There seems to be a lot of people involved with the show that were in the process of bailing when ABC made their announcement. Fox might need to round up a band of their cretins as supporting cast; I'm not sure any of the other actors will care to be associated with it.

I'm sure this will be spun as "liberal over-reaction to a joke" but it's important that this kind of behavior is not normalized. The GOP has been bending over backwards to explain and justify and soften this kind of talk ever since Trump was elected, and the only way to curb it is to hold those responsible accountable every single time they do it. If you can't talk reason, hit them where it hurts - in the pocketbook.

Fox is already spinning it exactly the way I said. Herman Cain is on the front page saying that they were looking for an excuse to cancel the show. So predictable. It's f'n crazy how this entire country has done a 180 because of one f'n idiot. :tjg:

The talking points seem to be mostly misplaced whataboutism, as far as I can tell:

- Jemele Hill did the same thing and still kept her job. (Narrator: she didn't)
- ESPN didn't fire Keith Olbermann for calling Trump a Nazi. (Narrator: once again, not the same thing)

They mostly seem to be trying to create an false equivalence between calling someone a racist because they say and do racist things (i.e. what Hill and Olbermann did) and actually saying and doing racist things (i.e. what Roseanne did).

And, of course, Trumpers are buying it 100%.

Well as excuses go I think Rosanne's tweets are pretty good ones. (as an excuse for firing, not the content itself of course)

Also, ABC deserves whatever negative blowback results from this. It’s not like Roseanne’s opinions were some unknown quantity but the execs just wanted to capture all the demographic groups it could.

The real problem is that it isn't one f'n idiot. It is an entire horde of them. The racist minority is making its voice heard over the silence of the majority. Moves such as cancelling that show are only baby steps toward pushing their narrative back into the whispers of the self-ashamed where it belongs. Fox acting again and again to reinforce the racist message only shows how many folks buy into it as without viewership they would end up off the air.

Yep. They're claiming an equivalence between racism and criticizing the president.

Or not even that. They're implying that the latter is more serious and wrong.
