Unless it's coming out of someone like Shep Smith or Chris Wallace, I'm not going to put a lot of stock in something someone on Fox News says.

So y'know those 1,000 Eagles fans who were there to adore El Presidente? Slate is saying that they looked suspiciously like White House and Congressional interns.
As you can see above, the crowd at the rally—which involved the president standing on stage and mouthing some, but not all, of the words to songs like “God Bless America”—did not resemble your typical football spirit gathering. One Philadelphia-area TV reporter who attended wrote on Twitter that he found only one person wearing Eagles gear and none that could name the team’s starting Super Bowl quarterback. (The York Daily Record did interview two Pennsylvania business owners on their way to the event, of whom at least one appears to be a Republican donor.)
 Fake event or fake news? You decide!

Yeah, I thought about posting the reporter who talked to numerous "Eagles fans" who couldn't name the QB, but it seemed like overkill.

I have lived in Philadelphia for 17 years, but as a polite Southerner I have always had some misgivings about the city's style.

No longer. I've never been more proud to be a Philly guy. Fuck this White House.

Clearly this administration stand for NOTHING if not TOTAL ALLEGIANCE. It blatant and should be terrifying to everyone. Could you imagine a White House ever saying the words "They disagree with their Presidenct" as a prelude TO ANY THING.

The whole "FOX is too incompetent to get the story right" is fun, but I don't think it's accurate. They are intentionally trying to sway opinion and influence policy. The fact that they have been overwhelmingly successful attests to their competence. Have to go with malice.
I don't think they are too incompetent, I think all of the news, especially the cable news networks, rush stories and have cut back on things like fact checkers. A few minutes of double checking would have kept them from screwing up this one.

But I do like to assume people aren't evil.

Friday night, tlr's brother and his wife, both Orthodox, had us over for Shabbat dinner. They gave us prayer books with all the bruchas printed phonetically, so we could say them as well.

I looked like Drumpf in that video - trying to follow some people saying words I didn't understand, and saying them too quickly.

I think I can say with great confidence that Stormy doesn't give a shit what you think or say, Giuliani, and that's one thing many of us have in common with her.

See you in court.

Again, this behaviour to me is either indicative of major blackmail material held by drumpf on Giuliani, or onset of dementia.

This is something that's been in the back of my mind for a while now. We know the Russians love their compromat and we know that one of Cambridge Analytica's claims to fame was getting dirt to hold over politicians.

How many of these idiots out there going to great lengths to protect Drumpf, for very little in return, are doing it because someone has some dirt on them. Nunes? Giuliani?

Obviously this is conspiracy territory for now, but it's just strikes me as odd the great lengths some are going to to protect Drumpf, even when it is clearly not in their self interest.

Well on the one hand, the "president" was barely a sock puppet before he was put in the WH, so there is no surprise there. Former respectable mayor of new york city is another thing entirely however. He seems to be going insane right before our eyes.

I have a hard time imagining drumpf having the goods on Giuliani that doesn't also compromise drumpf though. How would drumpf go about releasing his blackmail stuff without incriminating himself. I'm thinking backroom bribes and/or deals for real estate development that weren't on the up and up.

It seems very likely that Putin has blackmail material on Trump: no one launders money from Russia without Vlad knowing about it, and he seems like the kind of guy who keeps the receipts.

That said, I think we're also looking at a genuine meeting of corrupt souls here. Trump admires strength and covets wealth, and Putin is the wealthiest strongman on Earth. Trump has seen how Russia works, and there's no one he would rather be. This explains his affinity even for authoritarians who haven't financed Trump real estate. Compromise is just weakness, and democratic norms are impediments to Trump Power.

In the case of Giuliani and Devin Nunes and company, and think we're looking at greedy racists who see that they have this one chance to hold America back and remake it in their own image, and they're not going to waste it.

They'll go down fighting because the fight means everything: losing means history will laugh at them while victory means a boot stigginit to a librul face, forever.

The conservative movement and the GOP have a significant faction (maybe the majority faction) of Ayn Rand types, of which Paul Ryan is very much one. Randians have a built in suspicion of / contempt for democracy, because the most important value to them is protecting the makers from the takers, and democracy is a ready made vehicle for the more numerous takers to vote themselves a share of the makers' bounty.

So, you offer Paul Ryan a wildly regressive policy agenda AND a cutting back of democratic process, that's basically a win-win for him. Of course he'll happily protect the Trump administration from its enemies, as long as they don't get squeamish on the regressive policies. It's also not a coincidence that Paul Ryan has been more aggressive than McConnell in protecting Trump and going after Trump's enemies.

I think that was my point. If you're just agreeing with me, then great. If you're telling me something that you think is news to me, well...I've known he was a piece of shit for 30+ years. I loved that he was running for the presidency because it was hilarious. He might as well have been a more corrupt, malignant Krusty the clown. Then you stupid mf'ers went and elected him and my jaw hit the floor.

I was talking about Guiliani - sorry it was not clear. Guiliani was divisive when he was Mayor. He said a lot of wacky things and did a lot of wacky things like talking about remaining Mayor (though term limited) because he was uniquely suited to save the city after 9/11. Unsurprisingly NYC still did well after he moved on.

Well, that would have been COMMUNISM.

This is just a kleptocrat gangster state that jails opponents, assassinates journalists and diplomats, runs on bribery, and builds its foreign policy on a web of international crime and military atrocities. What's not to love?
