I remember fondly of my father, at Christmas time sitting by the fire, telling stories from the year. Specifically between the dates of August 17th and August 22nd in 1983.
Also, saying you have a group of all women law clerks doesn't really send the message I think he thinks it does.

He's not very convincing. He admits to drinking beer as a teen, okay. He admits getting drunk, okay. But he denies drinking so much that...stop right there. What teen drinker in all of human history didn't, at some point, drink so much that they didn't know what they were doing? In the context of him drinking at parties with his buddies I'm supposed to believe he was a responsible drinker who knew and kept to his limits? I don't think so. And if he'd fudge even something like this, what else might he not be truthful about?
I know the purpose of saying that is so people can't say "Well, if you got that drunk then maybe you did it and don't remember it". By denying ever getting that drunk he preemptively defends that angle. The problem is now people need to ask themselves if they believe a teen, partying with friends, was ALWAYS mindful of how much he drank and so never drank that much.

He'd be much, much better off with copping to the fact that he partied and may well have had too much to drink at some of those parties, but no level of intoxication would lead him to sexually assault someone.
This other angle? Not so much.

About the yearbook and the Renate Alumnius comments:
He is toast.
Are you kidding? Does he think no one in America ever went to high school or wrote "inside jokes" in their yearbook?"One thing in particular we were sad about, one of our good — one of our good female friends, who we would admire and went to dances with had her name used on the yearbook page with the term alumnus. That yearbook reference was clumsily intended to show affection and that she was one of us. But in this circus, the media has interpreted the term was related to sex. It was not related to sex.

I don't understand. Blacking out is isn't universal to alcohol abuse is it? There were points in my live where I was dedicated to stupid drinker and I've never blacked out. I've always been fascinated by the concept. My evenings became all the more clear moment to moment the more drunk I became even as my coordination and ability to speak deteriorated from existence.. Lord knows blacking out would have been way cooler than living a life a hugging the toilet in slow motion moment to moment for hours and hours, just waiting the world stop spinning so I could sleep.LawBeefaroni wrote: Thu Sep 27, 2018 4:06 pm You know he's lying if he says he never drank to excess or blacked out.

Re: SCOTUS Watch
If I was in his position, not that I'd ever be in his position, I would just admit that yeah sometimes I drank so much that vomiting and passing out were a thing. He could still deny assaulting anyone, one thing does not imply the other. I drank to excess a lot in my younger days and never assaulted anyone, sexually or otherwise. Anyone who has been around drunk people will know there are different types of drunks. Some guys, yes you're gddamn right you better watch yourself around them if they're drunk. Other people aren't the least bit aggressive even when drunk. I would have used that angle if I was him.Kurth wrote: Thu Sep 27, 2018 4:05 pmYeah. edit:
No, it's not universal. You have to get to a point where your tolerance for alcohol is high enough that instead of passing out, you stay conscious. However, the alcohol still works its magic on you so you are very, very drunk. It's impossible to prove someone got black out drunk 30 years ago, but if you told me the person in question was a teen drinker who regularly partied with friends while they all were drinking, then it's a lot easier to believe they developed high tolerances to alcohol. That's why I think he denied getting that ever getting that drunk, so he could say he has clear memory of everything he did or didn't do.LordMortis wrote: Thu Sep 27, 2018 4:14 pmI don't understand. Re: SCOTUS Watch
It's not universal but if you drink enough and your tolerance is such that overdrinking doesn't send you running to the toilet or make you pass out, it's pretty standard.LordMortis wrote: Thu Sep 27, 2018 4:14 pmI don't understand. Do he really blame the Clintons in his opening remarks? This is absurd and a Trumpian remark if I ever heard one. I think he’s trying Trump’s playbook of not appearing weak to play to Trump but I don't think this will go over well with the general public.

Never passed out either. Spend too many nights hugging a toilet or sitting by myself outside propped up against a tree. I drank enough in my day, but I guess I just never developed "the tolerance."
Don't forget he cut his teeth and made his contacts under Ken Starr. His playbook is from Rove, not Trump.Do he really blame the Clintons in his opening remarks? If you had asked me if I ever blacked out while drinking I would have said no, until I saw video evidence of myself doing things I had no memory of (not sexually assaulting someone btw). It was a pretty surreal experience to see yourself in a situation you have no memory of. I think it is pretty hard to deny blacking out because by definition you don't know it happened. You might point to the fact that you never woke up in strange place, or with different clothes on, but it is possible to black out at home and not get changed before you are finally unconscious. Then, as far as you know you simply passed out or went to sleep.

So I just came back after only watching a few clips since Ford was on.
1. Why is Senator Graham directly addressing Kavanaugh?
2. he was wrong, Ford specifically stated that Feinstein's staff were *not* the ones to suggest getting a lawyer.
3. Holy shit, Graham has gone crazy.. Maybe he's trying to make Kavanaugh and Grassly sane and normal by comparison.
