There is no question there are crazies on both sides. We can't really start talking about both sides in that context however until tee shirt boy gets his own show on CNN with the rest of CNN supporting and being self referential to the show. Until then, one's a wackadoodle yelling at a copy shop clerk, the other is a multi-million dollar media personality with a direct line to millions Americans on a daily basis, with infrastructure and network providing support and amplifying his message.

No it is not. Should it be criticized? Absolutely. Should I be outraged? Meh. He should take a PR hit and it sounds like he's going to do so. Should there be blood or a resignation? Neomi Rao: Trump court pick 'regrets' blaming women for date rape
If I understand the system, this either ends her career (if she's a Democrat) or "boys girls will be boys girls ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ " (if she's a Republican).US President Donald Trump's nominee to replace Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh on a lower court has said she regrets past comments about date rape.
Neomi Rao, head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, wrote a college op-ed claiming women could avoid rape by staying sober.
In another opinion piece, Ms Rao wrote feminism was "dangerous" for teaching women that they are equal to men.
Facing scrutiny from both parties, Ms Rao said she had "matured" since then.
"To be honest, looking back at some of those writings, I cringe at some of the language I used," Ms Rao, 45, a nominee for the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, told the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Re: Political Randomness
It's almost like civil rights took awhile to take hold and for society and culture to transform itself into a less shitty version of itself.
By all means start burning things down because 40+ years ago people were not as enlightened as they are today.
I think it's important to be critical of past actions. I also think it's important to evaluate people based on a lifetime of behaviour.
Don't get me wrong, those pictures are shitty even by the standards of the 70's, and yes, they are an atrocity in 2019, but 40 years is a long freaking time ago. If we aren't going to take peoples' ability to change into account and just burn them at the stake whatever the affront at whatever point in time it occurred, then why even bother to change at all? Once you've made your first mistake and it's recorded, it's game over for you. Luckily it's very easy for people to never make any mistakes or lapses in judgement, so you know anyone who's made a mistake has chosen to be a monster.
I'm frustrated, obviously. These are shitty things that people have done. They deserve ridicule and criticism. A lifetime of change and positive behaviour should be worth something though, shouldn't?
I don't know about the specifics of any one of these cases. I'm fairly confident the internet doesn't know either, yet burn him down seems to be the go-to response. In a time where the president of the United States has admitted on camera to sexually assaulting women based on a life of privilege, I struggle to understand this duality. Particularly ironic is the right media sphere calling hypocrisy on the left over this. This is the same right that defended Moore, defends drumpf, and put Kavanaugh on the SCOTUS.
If it turns out these guys are closet racists and have been all their lives, then have at it. Even if not, I agree some some public flogging in warranted. How much is enough, I guess is where my dilemma arises.

Sad news: RIP, John Dingell.
Former U.S. Rep. John David Dingell Jr., who was one of the U.S House’s most powerful chairmen and helped write and pass some of the most consequential legislation in the nation's history, died Thursday. He was 92.
Dingell, of Dearborn, served nearly 60 years in the House, making him the longest-serving member in Congress' history. He stepped down in early 2015. His wife, U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, confirmed his death for the Free Press at about 9:30 p.m.
After retiring at age 88, Dingell surprisingly embraced Twitter, reveling in the brevity of the form. He had more than 252,000 followers as he made playful, often sarcastic comments on culture (“Staff has now informed me of what a Kardashian is. I'm only left with more questions”), Michigan sports (“Say what you will about the Lions, they've nearly perfected walking backward between plays while the flags are being picked up”) and politics.
Following the conflict in Charlottesville, Va., in 2017 in which white nationalists brawled with protesters wanting to pull down a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee — after which President Donald Trump said there were “very fine people” on both sides — Dingell tweeted, “I signed up to fight Nazis 73 years ago and I'll do it again if I have to.”
He will always be known first and foremost, however, for a remarkable legislative tenure that lasted 59 years — spanning all or part of 11 presidencies — during which time he cast tens of thousands of votes and helped write or otherwise played a role in passing the most significant measures of the era, including Medicare, the Civil Rights Act, the Clean Water and Clean Air acts, the Endangered Species Act and more.
Much prefer my Nazis Nuremberged.

I agree. It's like people are getting so close to the point, without really stumbling into it. These photos show the people involved making extremely poor decisions, to be sure, but treating them just as individual fuck-ups kind of misses the degree to which they illustrate how deep and widespread racism has been in our society.GreenGoo wrote: Thu Feb 07, 2019 6:05 pm It's almost like civil rights took awhile to take hold and for society and culture to transform itself into a less shitty version of itself.

What's the problem, libs? Hitler just wanted smooth operations. He was proud of being German, is that wrong? What? No, I don't have any comment on genocide. Really, the problem is that he wanted to expand his vision for a perfect Germany to other places. If he just did his thing within the borders of Germany, what's the problem?

I'm actually seeing a lot of this reinterpreatation/normalization of nationalism. Even more absurdly, for "white nationalism." Like, "we're nationalists who happen to be white. What's the problem?" It's the alt-right throwing confusion into everything and co-opting shit to spread chaos.
They've done it to great effect with the blue line flag. It was solely a symbol of support for LEOs. They've co-opted it and painted LEO and their supporters as racists and supporters of white nationalism. They've furthered the divide between police and minorities.
