Stop with the chiropractors. They are, at best, a masseuse, and at worst, capable of making things worse. People have this idea that they're doctors who specialize in backs. They're not. They're not doctors, and many of their treatments are not based on science at all, but wibbly-wobbly new agey silliness.

Longest running restaurant in my community closed for good last weekend. When I moved here 20 years ago this was just a town but has since grown to a small city. This establishment had not changed or updated anything in those 20 years. Closest thing to craft beer they ever came was Leinenkugel's or Blue Moon. Rail liquor is good as the booze got. Good food though. Every place around to go out and eat is packed almost every night except people stopped going there. Even the Ground Round which has the worst food in the city, not even up for debate, is crowded most nights. I guess some chain restaurant (Panera, Qdoba,?) is moving into the space.

If you are trying to die, loading up on NSAIDs is a great way to do since you have kidney problems. Stick with Tylenol. I know it doesn't help much, but it won't kill your kidneys.

Not to sound cold, but you have your own thread for these issues and thoughts.
Not sure I want to start reading about them in other threads I click.
We're trying to help you out there. Are you just looking for new advise to ignore?
But I will say I agree with the grief counseling. It be nice to put that sentiment in the thread where people have been advising you to do so for a month now......

Meh, that's the nature of randomness. Someone could be posting about back issues and their grief due to losing their wife could seep in. Or someone could post that they're posting in their underwear. That's the risk you take when you're in the random randomness forum due to the, well, randomness.

That's because Tylenol (acetaminophen) kills the liver instead. Overdose on that leads to acute liver failure.

Chiropractors haven't been "new agey" since...I don't know...state boards started licensing them, implementing continuing education requirements, requiring that they pass base medical curriculum same as doctors (toxicology, biochemistry, anatomy, etc.)? Maybe you should have been pickier in selecting your chiropractor; mine actually helps me. Granted, I don't have any underlying major health issues - and of course, manual external therapy can make something worse, if the chiropractor doesn't have access to x-rays or MRI scans to know about an internal condition.

There are lots of people that benefit from witch doctors chiropractors, no doubt. However, in this very specific situation given everything else we know I don't think it should be the first thing attempted to address the identified issues.

My stepson is back. In his travel trailer. Minus a foot.
He says his pills are giving him diarrhea. The temp outside the last few mornings has been in he teens.
His black water tank has frozen solid. He can't use his toilet anymore. So now he's living over here.
He got somebody to come over here and pump at least some of it out on Monday.
But for the next couple of days he's staying at our house.
My wife is more upset than I.
His wife is having a nervous breakdown from all the stress of him being in the hospital and now being home with problems.
It will be interesting to see how many of us are alive and still here Monday. Or not in Jail.
If I were you guys I'd contact a bookie and make odds.

Don't think about it; just do it.
  1. Look up local hospice(s) in your area.
  2. Call a local hospice, and inform whomever answers that you recently lost your wife and need to find out what grief and bereavement support groups/resources are available in your locale.
  3. Most importantly, make the effort to attend, and avail yourself of the help accessible in your area; doing so cannot possibly be any worse than just wishing for death while grieving completely isolated and alone.

Last time I went to chriropracter he told me he could cure my daughter's chronic strep throat by adjusting her. I LOL for real got up and walked out mid treatment. Sounds pretty New Agey to me. They have helped my migraines in the past but the quack to legit ratio still seems pretty squed the wrong direction.

I've been going to the same one for twenty years. I always come out of there feeling better.
Usually one or two visits does it for me. Seldom two for that matter.
X-rays from the VA show my spine has bone spurs all over it.
In think he's up to $35 a visit. Started off at $20 a visit last century.

I couldn't find the story, but heard on a Joe Rogan podcast with Sam Harris that a furry filed an HR complaint where he worked because they didn't have a litter box in the restroom. You couldn't make this shit up. Is this a reasonable accommodation? I think you could bring in the health department, I doubt an open box of feces and urine is permissible in a public restroom.

Whether it's a reasonable accommodation is moot, because "furry" is not a protected class.

Ive spent so much of my life on a PC. Its what I enjoy though. I spent it on PC when I should have spent it with my wife or dog or something else. But she did her thing too. We each had our fun stuff. The last few years especially so. Her tv my pc. It was just life. A great life.

Sometimes knowing that doesn't help me feel better about it all.

Towson University police warn of a woman on the loose, looking for a date for her son
Students complained to officers that she approached them last week in two campus buildings, the Cook Library and Center for the Arts, showing them a picture on her cell phone and asking if they were interested in dating her son.

It caused enough of a disturbance that police alerted students via an “incident advisory” that included a link to surveillance footage of the woman.

I love winter in general, as cold and snow are far more preferable than oppressive heat for me. However, I hate cold and flu season.

We simply cannot seem to get healthy in the Skinypupy household this winter. Little B 9.11 stayed home from school for two days a couple weeks ago with a cough and fever. As soon as she started feeling better, Mrs. Skinypupy got it and was floored for three days last week. She got on the mend, then Wonder Twin 5.8b came down with it over the weekend. He's finally back up to normal, and now Wonder Twin 5.8a woke up at 2am with a croup cough and a fever of 102.

Enough already!

Yeah, same. It's bad enough with it going around work, I'm (allegedly) on the mend from it and it seems the wife may be starting down that path to sickness. I can't imagine the breeding colony you've got when you throw little kids into the mix. :(

It's rainy season in Northern California and likely to be the remainder of the week. Fortunately, I already bought rain pants last year, and I have my own rain jacket (I actually lost the first one last week, but the replacement arrived on Monday) and the company issued one is a bit too warm for me. Delivery in the rain will be annoying, and they are still giving up 70+ boxes per day.

I seem to recall a story on one of those "true story" sites that a pair of parents came with their son to a job interview... and insist on doing the work for their son (no extra charge).

The Lost 80s Tour
If you’re a one-hit wonder, two-hit wonder or even three-hit wonder from the 1980s, the road can be a tough place in 2019. You can try to eke out a living playing clubs, fairs and remote casinos, but profits are slim once you pay for things like gas, food and hotel rooms and your day-to-day existence can be quite dispiriting.
Organizers just rolled out details for the 2019 edition of Lost 80s Live and the bill features Missing Persons, The Motels, John Parr, The Vapors, Real Life, The Escape Club and A Flock of Seagulls. That means it will be possible to hear “Wild Wild West,” “Turning Japanese,” “I Ran,” Send Me an Angel,” ‘St. Elmo’s Fire” and “Only The Lonely” all in a single show. And don’t worry: None of the bands play for very long, meaning you won’t have to be subjected to their boring non-hits or, God forbid, an actual new song.
Love 80’s Live Tour Dates

August 2 – Coney Island, NY @ The Ford Amphitheatre
August 3 – Peachtree, GA @ The Fredrick Brown, Jr Amphitheatre (The Fred)
August 9 – Detroit, MI @ Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre
August 10 – Denver, CO @ Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre
August 17 – San Diego, CA @ Humphrey’s Concerts By The Bay
August 22 – Houston, TX @ The Arena Theatre
August 23 – Lake Charles, LA @ Golden Nugget Lake Charles Hotel and Casino
August 24 – Grand Prairie, TX @ The Theatre at Grand Prairie
August 30 – Santa Ynez, CA @Chumash Casino Resort
August 31 – Saratoga, CA @ The Mountain Winery
September 1 – Lincoln, CA @ Thunder Valley Casino – Outside Amphitheatre
September 6 – Los Angeles, CA @ The Greek Theatre
September 7 – Las Vegas, NV @ The Downtown Las Vegas Event Center

My drivers license renewal came in the mail. It was in a Safety and Homeland Security envelope. Makes me think Germany 1939.

Last time..and all times before....I went with my wife to get ours done. Its making me get a new pic. I got mine last 2014. I like it. Shame to lose it. Wife got hers the next year in 2015. I hate to do this without her. Hell I hate to do it. Another memory. Ill always have that memory but forced to change and get another another. It never ends.

We would make a day out of it. We'd go to the little town near ours to get ours redone because no one was ever there. Then we'd eat at a little country place there or hit the winery..or both. Going without her sucks. I know I posted this but dwelling on it again. Cried all morning since getting up....well 3 times since 10am.

Got stuff to do today cant sit here all day.

I have an idea. You need to move to Chicago.
Most of the things that remind you of Donna will quickly be replaced by either fear or anger.
I could go to the DMV with 6 super models and a keg of beer and that still wouldn't make me ever remember getting my license renewed as a pleasant experience.

When I just got a new one in Dec, the website implied/suggested that I'd need additional documentation. So I showed up with my Social Security card - that I amazingly have managed to NOT lose. I get to the counter and the lady says "oh, we don't need anything if you are getting a replacement". As I understood it, I'd only need additional info if I was either getting a license for the first time, or (maybe - I'm fuzzy on the memory) if my previous license was from another state.

All that to say, you may only need your current physical license.

The MA SecState's website says for renewals:
If you want a REAL ID driver's license, are over the age of 75, or are renewing your license for the 1st time, you will need to visit an RMV Service Center with proof of the required documentation for:

Lawful presence (1 document)
If your name differs on the lawful presence document, you must also provide proof of the legal name change
Social Security number (1 document)
Massachusetts residency (2 documents)
"Lawful presence" requires a passport or birth certificate. The other documents will be easy to get.

It also says I can renew up to 1 year before expiration, so I ought to do that soon. April's going to be a very busy month for me.

WaPo
The 31-year-old runner told reporters that he ran up a nature trail earlier this month near Fort Collins and made his way to the top to take in the sights. But on his way down, he said, he ran into some ice on the trail, so he took a detour and hopped on West Ridge Trail at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, a 2,700-acre park known for its hiking, biking and horseback riding trails.
...
“I turned around and was just pretty bummed out to see a mountain lion chasing after me,” Kauffman said Thursday during a news conference.
...
“I stopped, and I threw my hands up in the air, and I started shouting,” he told reporters, adding that he was not able to deter the animal. “So it just kind of kept running and lunged at me."

Kauffman said the lion lunged toward his face, so he threw up his fists for protection. But, he said, it did not work; the animal grabbed onto his hand and his wrist, then started to claw his face and neck, stabbing one claw through his lip.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Looks like hepcat's wishes have finally come true:
The Golden Girls hasn’t aired a new episode since May 9, 1992, but the sitcom’s legacy is very much alive and well via the fans who just can’t get enough of these four elderly ladies. But now, for devotees who aren’t content simply watching reruns on the couch, a Golden Girls Cruise will tour the Caribbean in February 2020, and you’re invited!

...

Tell me a bit about what kind of activities you have planned for the cruise.

What don’t we have planned?! We are going to begin with a Caftan + Cheesecake sail away party. While in port in Key West, we will have a Golden Girls Bar Crawl. During days at sea we will have Golden Girls Trivia (the questions will stump the smartest fan), Sophia’s craft corner, Golden Girls Bingo, Rusty Anchor Karaoke, the One Night in St. Olaf Dance Party (including a game of Rose’s Ugel + Flugel, a St Olaf game of tag), and much, much more!

We will also host a costume contest and a costumed dinner. You really haven’t lived until you’ve seen 200-300 people dress up as the Golden Girls, eating a formal dinner at sea.
Who am I kidding? That sounds like a blast.
