The 31-year-old runner told reporters that he ran up a nature trail earlier this month near Fort Collins and made his way to the top to take in the sights. But on his way down, he said, he ran into some ice on the trail, so he took a detour and hopped on West Ridge Trail at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, a 2,700-acre park known for its hiking, biking and horseback riding trails.
...
“I turned around and was just pretty bummed out to see a mountain lion chasing after me,” Kauffman said Thursday during a news conference.
...
“I stopped, and I threw my hands up in the air, and I started shouting,” he told reporters, adding that he was not able to deter the animal. “So it just kind of kept running and lunged at me."
Kauffman said the lion lunged toward his face, so he threw up his fists for protection. But, he said, it did not work; the animal grabbed onto his hand and his wrist, then started to claw his face and neck, stabbing one claw through his lip.
I was waiting to hear about this from the human perspective. This guy's telling of the story definitely delivered. Thanks for the link.Following the incident, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) released tips for surviving mountain lion attacks — as well as important advice for the big cats.
“Don’t mess with Colorado trail runners,” he said in a statement at the time. “A runner near Fort Collins killed an attacking mountain lion with his bare hands. Don’t try this yourself on purpose, as it is likely to end poorly for you. If it does come to a fight, Target the eyes and nose. This gentleman managed to suffocate the attacking cat.”

I'm still unclear if he is telling the hikers or the mountain lions this.

You know, they sell Fallout Bobbleheads over at Amazon.
I bet that would be a lot easier than collecting them in game.

I was reading an article about 21 people who likely never existed. So I'm clicking away and then all of a sudden there's Arnold Schwarzenegger! It took a couple of seconds to realize that they had changed subjects. It was pretty funny there for a couple of seconds tho.

No offense or disrespect intended in this post.....God knows the west and other places have done horrible and stupid things. But what is it with the Asian countries and their animal parts silliness that causes them to slaughter so many things? Japan with whales, China with about anything especially sharks and Tigers and such, Korea with dogs.Apollo wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 2:18 pmThat is awesome! Virgin Flight Reaches 801 MPH
A Virgin Atlantic flight from Los Angeles to London broke an unlikely milestone (and nearly the sound barrier) when it reached a screaming ground speed of 801 mph while traversing the skies some 35,000 feet above central Pennsylvania.
In related news passengers exited the plane 10 years younger.Peter James, a corporate pilot with 25 years of experience per his Twitter bio, remarked at the plane's pace in astonishment on Twitter: Almost 800 mph now never ever seen this kind of tailwind in my life as a commercial pilot !! (200 mph tailwind )

I read this and wondered if the passengers could tell any difference. I've never seen speeds above even 700 mph despite flying more than average.Daehawk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 5:58 pm Virgin Flight Reaches 801 MPH

Me and my wife...now just me...pay $5 a week for garbage pickup. I have 1 bag every two weeks that I put out. I wish I could pay by the pickup. As is I pay for them to drive by and look my way most weeks. I have no way to haul it myself or I would.

Re: Random randomness
I wish my town would go to pay-as-you-throw. We pay $15/month and at least 3/4 of our trash goes into the recycling bin. During the winter, when smell isn't an issue, I could easily go 2-3 weeks between non-recyclable trash pickups. But that penalizes big families, so it will never fly here.

Re: Random randomness
GR does it per "tip" as they call it. We have the biggest garbage bin they provide and it costs $7 per tip. We can sometimes go three weeks between tips. I'm happy with that system.
Curbside recycling is a smaller bin but picked up weekly for free.
