Im hearing rumors that Twins 2 will be called Triplets and Arnold and Danny discover they have a 3rd sibling....Eddie Murphy. If true that could be a riot. never saw the first movie but I love Murphy.

As much as I like Murphy, It's really too bad Robin Williams isn't around because that would seem like a perfect role for him.

Re: Movie Trailers thread
Saw First Man a couple of weeks ago. Since the whole movie is from Armstrong's POV, it's like the whole story is held at arm's length. They also made Buzz Aldrin out to be a bigger asshole than he really was, IMO. The only two really memorable scenes were the Gemini 8 near-disaster and the Apollo 1 fire, and even that gut-punch failed to humanize two of the three doomed astronauts. All in all, it left this space program fanboy disappointed.Holman wrote: ↑Sun Jun 10, 2018 3:17 pm If it's not chasing Apollo 13, the alternative is chasing The Right Stuff, and that bar is even higher.
It might be fun seeing Claire Foy play an American, though. She's great.
I think the real problem will be making Neil Armstrong interesting. By all accounts he was a rather introverted, solitary person who did everything by the book and showed little passion. It's said he was the inspiration for the relatively soulless astronauts in Kubrick's 2001.
Today we saw Front Runner, which I don't think was mentioned in this thread. It was quite good, although IDK how much someone who was too young to remember Gary Hart would care about his story. It was a watershed moment in the relationship between politicians and the press, with all the implications for today's politics that that implies, and the movie portrays that successfully without bludgeoning one over the head with it. In fact, I'd say it was more about the press than about Hart himself. Casting Alfred Molina as Ben Bradlee is about the worst thing I can say about the movie...I didn't buy him in that role at all.

Oh hey, thanks James Gunn for giving me the Superman movie I never knew I wanted.
Brightburn isn't anything new, as DC has done more than one variant on the "What if Superman wasn't such a nice guy" formula, but I trust Gunn to make something unique and fun out of it. By turning it into pure horror, I think he's on the right track.

That's nostalgia talking. Teen movies in the 80s were not great and fun to those who were in their 50s and older at the time.

Re: Movie Trailers thread
I loved me some 80s teen (and college) movies, but watching them now can be pretty cringe-worthy. Not too long ago I watched Revenge of the Nerds with a few people that had never seen it before; they were rightly horrified by some of the "antics" the nerds got up to (e.g. wearing a disguise in order to fool a girl into having sex, setting up video cameras in a sorority house to film girls undressing, etc.). I used to love that movie and I still have a soft spot for it, but it's definitely not a movie I'll be recommending anymore.

That DS9 docu. Show started 26 years ago and ended 20 years ago. If you're like me you never thought much about it. But thats a long time. I didn't even think about it until seeing how old the actors looked in that trailer. Most are older than my wife who passed away. Wow.

There was an episode of the 80's sci fi show Otherworld that had a similar plot.

The music has an emotional impact that takes the province by storm; the Church of Artificial Intelligence angrily protests the idol worship of Trace and Gina, whom the church views as subversives undermining their control. Cmdr. Kroll is sent to deal with the problem, and he likes the music! – then he recognizes the two singers.

Well, that was a waste of 90 minutes. Saw it this afternoon and it goes from promising to cliched slasher film fairly quickly. They try to create a mashup of an origin story for a bloodthirsty killer and a comic book Superman rip-off. But they just ended up making a mediocre horror film that isn’t really that scary. They do pile on the gore though...which just makes the whole thing feel even more confused about what it wants to say. Turns out it was only produced by James Gunn.hepcat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 10:55 am Oh hey, thanks James Gunn for giving me the Superman movie I never knew I wanted.
