That, at least to me, says that you got the wrong power for the readers in the progressives. In my first pair, I severely underestimated the reader's power. Turns out I need 2.5x for my readers, not 1.0x.

I've wondered that for years. It isn't just oaths, either. If someone needs some blood for (whatever), they slit open their palms. That's got to be about the worst possible option for bloodletting (well, that and the soles of their feet.)

Yeah, how about we start with a finger-prick and escalate from there if we have to.

Because it's the movies. It should be done on the finger, but it looks dumb on camera.

If they have a nest nearby, they are probably just foraging. I'd say throw some food out.

Else, recorded eagle calls and such? :)

Any one know anything about kitchen counters?

There's huge *** gap between the stainless steel sink and the counter, basically the board edges have corroded (I think it's particle board)

I am tempted to just use gap filler foam on it for short term.

Yes. For whatever reason, though, Michiganders and Chicagoans seem more possessive about it than others, as though it's some mark of regional pride that we can't read signs.

It's not pride, more of a, yep. Much in the way I don't take pride in being fat but... yep... I'm fat. No hiding it. Going so far as to even refer to "KMart and KMart's" was something I didn't know we did until I dunno, the 90s? and then as a revelation I saw if everywhere. Ultimately, I personally, apply business possessives cynically, until I get hit by discovering how my own memory is laughing at me.

In colder weather my little chihuahua that sleeps with me runs to get my warm spot as soon as I get out of bed. This morning all I had to do was turn the heater up and not actually get out of bed, just lean up and over to reach it. I knew he'd try to get my spot and sure enough as soon as I reached for the heater I felt the mattress bounce as he ran in under and behind me. So I went to lay back pretending I didn't know. Haha little guy was scrambling trying to get out of the way thinking he was going to be squished. He is only about 3 lbs. He was sliding and flopping around on the sheet and pillow trying to move. When I got covered back up he hopped up on my chest and looked me in the eyes as if to say "You almost killed me moron!" I couldn't help but say out loud "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!"

One of those days.

My point being that it's not a regional thing to add an "s" onto business names, but for some reason people from Michigan and Chicago think it is something that they only do there, and they love to make sure people know about it.

Having pride in regional food is different. It's perfectly acceptable for you to have pride in your regional hot dogs, even if they're not quite as good as Chicago hot dogs.

I would love to be able to get a good Detroit coney and a good Chicago dog in one place. That might be a good party theme actually.

This place does and they are both legit examples of the styles.

As long as you don't mind a Koegel for your Chicago dog, it's the only brand they use. They have killer fries too.

Ideally it would be Vienna Beef or Hebrew National for the Chicago dog but I can deal with Koegels. I actually prefer them most of the time.

BTW, I got a package of Nathan's the other day since they were on sale. Never again.

When I view Nathan's as a "that's as low as I go if I absolutely must" decision, I knew I was snob. And it's true. Hot Dogs can be a treat that I look forward to but only if they hit a level of goodness. Short of that, can I get something else please. Bologna on a hot dog bun isn't my thing.

Another thing I noticed last time I was in the bit dog aisle. There is a brand called Scott Petersen. That became problematic when a local cop named Scott Peterson killed his wife (and possibly a previous wife). He's on death row now IIRC.

Everytime I saw Scott Petersen hot dogs, I thought, man that sucks for them. Well finally they rebranded as Scott Pete. Like maybe 5 years too late?

Applegate's Natural Stadium Uncured Beef & Pork Hot Dogs have become my favourite brand of tube steaks. They provide a terrific snap, and the fact that they're not overloaded with sodium and garbage fillers is a welcome bonus.

Just got off the phone with cable. Was able to work out a new promotion. Not as good as the old one..figures. Its $10 higher than my old one. Basically taxes. They wouldn't match AT&T. The only reason I took it is I need that TV to help me mentally. Also I have help with the power bill right now. I told her that help ends in a 3 or 4 months and Ill have to cancel then for sure. She said call back and maybe theres a new promotion by then. I had to stifle a laugh. Of course there will be. But if not I will cancel and save even more money...just be staring at the walls instead.

What's that boiling frogs mentality. I'm in the same pot. Maybe this week I will cancel cable and move over to 100% streaming and OTA. I hope they don't screw you with their promotion. If they didn't sell you on a no strings attached, cancel at any time, promotion, it is my experience that there is a 100% early termination fee. So 12 month $80 a month commitment cancelled in six months has a $480 ETF

Don't get too used to it. The reason they don't have caps is because it was a requirement from the TimeWarner merger and it was to last a minimum of 7 years. That was in 2016. So in 2023, I guarantee they will start to put them in place.

Maybe but Ive had Charter since about 2002 and they have never had caps. Ive refused to use any ISP that had them since I started. I may be forced to one day but that day hasn't arrived :)

That Ghost In the Shell movie with ScarJo. Is it worth the time to watch? I mean is the story and filming interesting and does it have a good ending? I have seen snippets of it over time and it seems like a cyberpunk shadowrun kinda thing.

False advertising. My can of spinach says Fancy Spinach but the ingredient list says spinach, water, salt. I see nothing fancy there! :)

EDIT: And a rip off as well. After heating the can of spinach and draining the liquid I was left with about a cup of mushy greens.

Do you like the original Ghost in the Shell? It's one of those shows where most of the people who hate it are the people who love the original, while those who go into it blind generally thought it was good. And yes, Ghost in the Shell is one of the best examples of cyberpunk that doesn't involve opening a Gibson novel.
