I'm thinking if Biden gets the nomination it's a rare do-over opportunity for the Dems. They got complacent with all the polls favoring Clinton, and many voted against her rather than for Trump, I mean how bad could it be? Well they found out just how terrible it can be. The Democratic victories in state contests point to an engaged party. Without Bernie polarization, the back to normalcy appeal of the Obama VP, and fear and loathing of Trump should carry the day.

I hope you are right. Them was always asking why Clinton, if they only just ran Biden, this would be easypeasy, no baggage, in 2015. If Biden, goes down in flames as bad or worse the HRC, then there'd be some serious self reflection on what it means to be part of the party... Well there would be if there was time and energy to spare against keeping our collective house from falling apart.

Funny I think is the not so rare do-same mistake by the Dems. Their flawed conventional wisdom keeps getting punched in the face and we all suffer for it.

Romney said he will vote for subpoena about Hunter Biden after #RussianRonJohnson gave him assurances it would not become a public spectacle. Yeah, right. The only reason #RussianRonJohnson is doing this is to make it a public spectacle for political gain. Oh, Mitt.....

Sanders supporters are already getting angry with her on Twitter for even saying that.

They're also mad with Warren for going on SNL instead of immediately endorsing Bernie.

Also, Kamala Harris endorsed Biden today.

What I will say in defense of Sanders supporters in general on this is that: (1) Warren was a little cute / coy about her endorsement on SNL; and (2) this is an absolutely *critical* point in the campaign for Sanders. He's roughly on par with Biden delegate-wise right now, but if the polls hold up in their current state for the next few weeks or so, Biden's going to build an almost insurmountable delegate lead. So her endorsement is important *now* - if she waits even just a couple weeks, it may well be too late to do Sanders much good.

Maybe! And I suppose that she probably has had a bunch of unpleasant interactions with Sanders supporters lately. But I think it's reasonably clear that Sanders is closer to her politics than Biden is.

Anyway, my point is not that she owes her endorsement to Sanders (or anyone), but that Sanders is in dire peril now, so I understand why Sanders supporters would be freaking out a bit about her not (at least for now) endorsing Sanders.

I know I'm rough on certain segments of Sanders' supporters, but to be clear it's not directed at anyone here. I actually like some of the ideas beyond Sanders' policies, and I understand about being passionate in one's support of a candidate. I just wish that some would remember that even if we're not all in the same corner, we're all on the same side ultimately.

With the Harris/Booker nods this morning she is the only major holdout for a nomination. I expect she would ordinarily be chased desperately by Sanders but after the Clyburn story...maybe he isn't. It is really amazing Sanders got this far considering it sounds like he is an awful politician at this level. I will be very surprised if she goes with anyone but Biden.

Part of the issue is that Sanders attacks the "Democratic establishment" almost as much as Republicans, and draws a significant portion of his support from people who at the very least are less than committed to the Democratic Party.

Here we go - let the investigations begin! So far it's been lost in the Coronavirus incompetence.

https://twitter.com/charliekirk11/statu ... 9356559360

Politico
The Federal Bureau of Investigation raided a health care business linked to Joe Biden’s brother in late January, seizing boxes of documents.

The raid of an Americore Health hospital represented a deepening of the legal morass surrounding James Biden’s recent venture into health care investing at a time when questions about the business dealings of Joe Biden’s relatives, and their alleged connection to the former vice president’s public service, continue to dog his presidential campaign.

In the weeks since the raid, two small medical firms that did business with James Biden have claimed in civil court proceedings to have obtained evidence that he may have fraudulently transferred funds from Americore “outside of the ordinary course of business,” and a former Americore executive has told POLITICO that James Biden had more than half a million dollars transferred to him from the firm as a personal loan that has not yet been repaid.

It's really starting to look like Biden has sewn it up. If current trends hold, in a few hours Sanders will have no path to the nomination.

If that happens, the next chapter is all about Sanders' response and his followers' reactions.

EDIT: This is obviously going to be very hard for them. Sanders was the presumptive nominee just two weeks ago.

Of course they're not the only ones to see a favorite candidate's clear lead disappear as events moved forward. Hopefully they'll be able to suck it up like actual adults.

It seems that the dozen-person 2020 Democratic field has decided on a candidate faster than the two-person 2016 Dem field did.

Heh. I mean, he went on in 2016 months after he was clearly doomed, so I'm not sure why he would do anything differently this time. And to be fair, it would be a little bonkers for him to drop out before next week's elections - there's a debate on Sunday. It's not crazy for him to hope on a chain of events like: (1) the media gets bored and decides to write a bunch of pro-Sanders stories; (2) Sanders does well / Biden does poorly in Sunday's debate; (3) some other news story breaks Sanders's way; (4) Sanders does well next week, generating more "here comes Sanders!" stories in the media, etc.

He's probably screwed, sure, but I'd still be surprised if he dropped out before the end of March, if not April.
