They're not enforcing it with current leases, but all new ones going forward will have it.
"You can keep your current ISP if you're happy with it!"

Until the next renewal cycle comes up...

Which should make unpacking easier, as anything you don't absolutely need for the next 12 months should probably stay boxed and possibly moved to an offsite storage unit.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

ARGH... My place of residence is considered COMMERCIAL location and my local trash pickup does NOT include free large item disposal. I have two huge ancient heavy as **** metal pedestal desks to get rid of, and now, I have to post them on Craigslist "free".

Personally, I'd list the THIRD one too, but then, I bought a desk for my dad and he won't lift a finger to assemble it.

Put them out by the road in the middle of the night. Someone will take care of it and never know who sat them there.

Right now in the kitchen I have one of those 60x30x29.5 huge metal desks sitting there replacing a bent and plastic foldable table that was warped and else. But that desk was just too f***ing huge.

I was thinking about replacing it with something much lighter... Right now, all it's holding is a microwave and a hot water dispenser. So weight isn't an issue. Fold-in-half table seems to be the answer... Can be had for under $50, but not sure about durability.

Or I can take the table I bought for my dad (unassembled, never used) downstairs and assemble it, replacing the "kitchen" desk/table. That table/desk was a little smaller than the metal monstrosity there now, but not by THAT much. AND gain storage space underneath it...

Struck gold at Goodwill yesterday. Ive looked off and on for years for a good pot. I ruined my ancient great pot and the rest of my pots are too small for some stuff. Found a nice one with the heat plate still attached and a nice clear lid. Woot.

So far, I've yet to find any bone conduction headphone that fits me. It's gotten so annoying I am almost ready to build my own, or try some DIY mods... whenever I find myself some time and tools.

In a way, I'm surprised there is no DIY mods for bone conduction. There's maybe, 3-4 success stories using Adafruit's transducers. Someone 3D printed an eyeglass frame to fit those transducers into the arms, then took apart an older BT headset and took its BT controls and just hacked it into the transducers

Another guy basically hooked it up to his regular pair of glasses, transducers only, leaving the power and amp in a separate module. That would work fine too.

The closest one to DIY kit I can find is some place called Max Virtual... They sell Cynaps, basically a baseball cap with their own transducers, amp, and battery pack. Theirs don't reach the mastoid bone so I don't know about sound quality. And some say you can hear it from the outside as if someone hearing it from semi-open headphones. Not worth the effort.

It's surprising how bone conduction headset market is "one-size fits all", and there is no alternate choice when it doesn't fit. In fact, Aftershokz makes a MINI version for people with SMALLER heads, but they don't make one for people with BIG heads. ARGH.

And it seems nobody makes an "adjustable" one. The only one that I can find that uses bone conduction and is adjustable is sold as a "hearing aid" because it also has a microphone onboard to amplify ambient sound.

The only other choices would be "tactical" headsets, and who knows how those fit.

Pyperkub wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2020 3:50 pm IMHO, there are some huge misses on the list:

Orwell's 1984 (WTF? Duh).

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein should probably be there and I remember when reading Niven and Pournelle's Inferno, that they made the argument that Dante's Inferno was the first ever Science Fiction story, taking the most advanced science of the time - Theology - and writing a story of it.

Side note, I have a first edition of A Princess of Mars - I remember looking it up and it was going for about $400. I also have one of the original Ace paperbacks of Neuromancer , and that is going for ~$600. Not sure I agree with that, but go figure.
I was glad to see Neuromancer. I was shocked not to see Endor's Game. But then, as shown in what I've read, I'm not a SciFi novel well versed guy. I don't think of 1984 as SciFi, just distopian. Much as I think of The Trial.
I'm just quoting this because I love the idea of a Star Wars/Ender's Game crossover called Endor's Game.

I think I've read 12 of the 17 on the list, and have Slaughterhouse Five on my kindle to be read "soon".

My Knee hurts. Its not a strong hurt. its ranging between 1 and 3 on the pain scale, but it doesn't really stop.
have you ever taken a long flight in the cheap seats, and then been super stiff and sore when you got up? What if your knee felt like that, and didn't stop. Thats how my torn ACL feels. There are intermittent spikes of pain if I do the wrong thing. and if I use it too much, it ramps up for a while and I have to take it easy.

I know lots of people have it worse. But I am looking at possibly several months of pain like this, and its just very depressing.

I haven't but I saw an aquantance shortly after he had just been removed for the Somerset Collection (they're too fancy to call a mall, I guess) for wearing only a long tshirt, shoes, and a loin cloth (loin leather?) covered by said long TShirt. Oh Robin, I wonder what ever became of you.

Sorry to break it to you, but NO ONE wants to see your 50-yr-old twig and berries and purple starfish while shopping or eating in public. So unless your idea of a 'good time' is getting arrested and hauled off to jail pantless, you may want to think again. Or consider relocating to San Francisco.

Watching computer videos from the early 2000s. A time I thought was high tech and advanced but looking back clearly was not :). Ya at the time I guess it was. But so primitive on a look in reverse. I can do this with any time though.

One guy from a 1997 vide owas talking about how home networking was going to become a thing finally. He predicted you could use your outlets or a phone wire to hook up all kinds of item in the house like your computers , home entertainment system, printer, and appliances. Sooooooo close. We do all that wirelessly though.

It's purely relative. To put it In perspective, typical computers in 1964 looked like this:

Twenty years later in 1984, a Commodore 64 home computer was capable of playing games with halfway-decent speech and music at home (which was certainly far superior to the bleeps and bloops typical of PC home computers for years to come):
