I saw someone walking around work earlier this week wearing a mask AND gloves. She probably should have been working at home if she's that worried.

My oddest mask/glove moment was when I made my Walgreens run earlier this week. Dude walking around wearing a mask had to pull it down to do facial recognition on his iPhone. I imagine putting your contaminated fingers on your garden variety paper mask isn't going to help too much.
That's my purse! I don't know you!

Take glove off with teeth while holding bag in the other hand, use finger to unlock biometrics on phone, use teeth to pull glove back in while the loose fingers flap on nose and eyes.

I've seen it.

That's not how any of this works. Wow.

When I used a glove at the gas station, I had one hand gloved, the other not. Left hand handled the gas cap and door handle. Right hand handled everything on the pump. When I was done I gingerly gripped the end of the glove and pulled it off without it touching any part of me and dumped it in the waste can there before getting back in my car. I used it for all of 2 minutes.

I expect FL to surge fast if they ever start testing extensively. Between the spring break bacchanalia, the large elderly population, and limited control efforts, it's a virus' paradise.

They're magic talismans for most people. Just like extra rolls of toilet paper and facemasks. No idea how they work it what they do. Just have them because they make them feel safer.

A guy crossed in front of me at a light today with a surgical mask on. He reached under it with his finger to scratch his full beard. SMFH, waste of a mask.

If your skin is touching any part of the outside of the glove at any point, you're doing it wrong.

/edit - and to be clear, you can do step 2 with only one glove on.

My son came back from college with a bad cold and yesterday had 101.6 fever and a dry cough. A worker at a meal hall at his college tested positive, so I have an appointment today for a mobile test in FL.

FWIW, that is the method that I've been taught by at least four different trainers, two as part of medical training, two as part of biohazard training. Just imagine dipping your gloved hands in paint up to the edge of the wrist before taking them off. If paint touches your skin, you lose.

Basically your clean fingers need to sneak inside the dirty glove and take it off by turning it inside out, starting at the wrist.

Anything short of that, your just infecting your clean hand.

This is all under the assumption you really have that ‘clean hand’...

This is why the best advice is to look at your hands as dirty and just clean them.

Whatever's being done seems to be working for Maine. The JHU Map I've been following daily shows us at 52, which is where we were yesterday, and only at 42 the day before. Either we're not testing or it's slowing down. That's awesome. I hope.

Stop flushing things that are not meant to be flushed

Do you want a breakdown of critical infrastructure? Because this is how you get a breakdown of critical infrastructure.
Facilities across California have already reported issues with their sewer collection systems, the state's Water Resources Control Board said.
Many cities in California use centralized sewage collection systems that rely on gravity and water flow to move along waste, according to regulators. Toilet paper dissolves in those systems, where as wipes and paper towels don't break down so easily.
"Flushing wipes, paper towels and similar products down toilets will clog sewers and cause backups and overflows at wastewater treatment facilities, creating an additional public health risk in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic," the state's Water Resources Control Board said in a news release.

When I went to town I didn't wear anything. I used hand sanitizer in the car before leaving each place. But that doesn't help the key I used, the door handle I opened, the steering wheel and shifter Ive touched . Not much to do. If I get it I hope I get over it for my pets. If I die at home they will all starve before someone finds our bodies in a year or so. If I survive then I probably cant get it again at least for a year.

From the moment you get into your car until you're at home, think of yourself as being in the hot zone. While there you minimize what you handle and keep your hands away from your face. Getting the virus on your hands isn't a huge deal unless you move it to somewhere dangerous. As soon as you walk in the house, wash thoroughly and disinfect anything you used on the way in (door knobs, light switches.) Put the groceries away and wash again. The idea is to keep the virus out of the house and out of your body by limiting the exposure to your hands.

And if you have one, disinfect your phone.

How not to get tested. Utah man threatens to bomb hospital after being denied coronavirus test
Brian James Gosh made the threat after he called the hospital Wednesday and was told he couldn't get tested for COVID-19, authorities allege in the document.

Gosh told the Intermountain Medical Center employee on the phone he would bring a bomb and put it inside the cafeteria or conference room, warning the person to keep their family safe. The hospital is located in the Salt Lake City suburb of Murray.

Heh, I forget my Britishism to American English translations sometimes. "Bog roll" is actually a fairly common slang term for toilet paper in the UK though.

I'm absolutely not arguing the fact that women use way more TP than men do. But that's NOT even remotely what the quoted article was addressing.

I suspect most of those flushing non-flushable items are doing so because they've run out of regular TP as a result of having been unable to purchase any from Californian stores over the past week or two.

Don't love his cough though. They said a week for results. I suspect we will know how he is doing well before we get it back and if we were exposed as well.

All these places going drive thru only is bumpkiss. At least let people coem in to worder and leave. Motorcycles and people with non functional windows are shit out of luck on everything.

And this last line of chat reminds me of the 80s when we were all out in the woods wasting a day and my friend's sister had to pee. She simply used leaves.......poison oak or ivy leaves. Poor girl was in bad shape for a couple weeks from that one.

I forgot to call it "a box of pure malevolent evil, a purveyor of
insidious insanity, an eldritch manifestation that would make Bill
Gates let out a low whistle of admiration," but it's all those, too.

I have no idea how many of these offers are legit or would be helpful, but it is encouraging to see so many folks raising their hands to help.

Pardon my male chauvinism here, but I can't help but suspect the entire hysteria over vast quantities of bog roll vanishing from store shelves and somehow being necessary to survive "shelter in place" orders due to the Commie flu has to be an almost entirely female-created problem.

Hate to be that guy as well but I use TP to wipe my ass pretty much exclusively. Occasionally, I'll blow my nose in a few squares but prefer actual tissue paper for that. My wife and Daughter on the other hand must be eating it because they can go through 2 rolls a day it seems like. They will adapt or starve.
I'm absolutely not arguing the fact that women use way more TP than men do. But that's NOT even remotely what the quoted article was addressing.
cool, didn't read it as I was merely responding to Bosch's comments.
