It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see them try and roll that back.El Guapo wrote: Wed May 06, 2020 2:04 pmThe "tomorrow" phase will no doubt be voting restrictions to make it harder for the employees to vote in November.Skinypupy wrote: Wed May 06, 2020 1:57 pm Yesterday: Utah's governor signs a bill shielding businesses from litigation brought by people (including employees) who contract coronavirus on their property.

So, employers have no obligation to provide any sort of protection for employees AND employees will have no legal recourse if they get sick at work AND they can be fired (which means they can't collect unemployment) if they decide returning to work isn't safe.
This re-opening plan is awesome!

How can they reconcile that with their other narrative that this is an unforseeable "Act of God" and that governments, corporations, businesses, and individuals cannot be at fault for the consequences? Holding China accountable is the exact opposite of that line.

This kind of surprises me. I guess we all have our own personal hill to dye on.
A hair salon owner in Texas was ordered to spend a week in jail after she continued to operate her business despite restrictions put in place because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Shelley Luther was booked in the Dallas County jail on Tuesday afternoon following a video hearing, during which she was found in contempt of court. The hearing occurred as Gov. Greg Abbott relaxed more restrictions statewide, allowing barbershops and hair salons to reopen Friday.

She got jail time for violating a restraining order that she got after she violated the stay-at-home order. In other words, she was given a second chance and a clear warning and she still refused to comply. When she gets out of jail she can collect her GoFundMe hoard take a job on some GOP staff.Smoove_B wrote: Wed May 06, 2020 3:41 pm This kind of surprises me. Conservative Militia Group Prepares For Societal Collapse By Training As Hairstylists, Nail Technicians.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI—Training night and day in an abandoned strip mall complex, a conservative militia group has been preparing for societal collapse by training as hairstylists, nail technicians, and cosmetologists, sources confirmed Wednesday. “When the shit hits the fan, we’ll be the ones who are ready to take care of ourselves with the latest hair colors, nail applications, and specialized skin-care treatments,” militia member Wayne Donnell, 54, said as he drilled a group of children, some as young as 7, in the basics of administering a seaweed body wrap. “We’re actively recruiting tanning bed operators to join the fight, and we’re stockpiling styling gel so we’ll have something to barter after the dollar flatlines. Of course, we also have a bunker full of diesel generators, which are crucial if you want to be able to operate hair dryers and curling irons off the grid. I’d advise others to do likewise. If you and every member of your family can’t at least execute a decent mani-pedi, then brother, there ain’t gonna be much hope for you under the New World Order.” Donnell went on to state that those who failed to prepare for the fall of society had better not come crying to him when they needed a Brazilian blowout.

That's not a next trick. That's been the primary trick for weeks. That everyone is being pressured to report every body who dies with COVID19 as COVID19 being the cause of death. As if Soros is out there controlling "the governors" now that he can't control the president and the governors are making the COD always COVID19. The forgets the fact that you know COVID isn't actually killing. Proximate causes like Pneumonia or stroke or heart failure or lungs swelling shut are killing them just like they do when we talk about the amount of dying from flu or HIV. I hadn't blocked people on social media since the great purging around the 2016 election. Then this shit started getting flung around and I found my anger rising.

Forget Trump or even GOP. I thought I purged them all on all sides (admittedly a majority were Trump propagandists but Occupy Democrat and the other 98% propagandists and the like all went too) I guess we as a nation are getting worse because I went from "come on now, you're better than that" to "fuck this shit I'm out" in about two days sometime in early April.

The whole problem with the face mask thing just boggles my mind. These businesses, which are already opening earlier than they probably should, are asking people to do the *bare minimum* to protect themselves and their employees, and they won't do it.
ALMOST ALL BUSINESSES ALREADY HAVE CONDITIONS ON ENTERING THEIR STORES.
- Must wear shirt and shoes
- No smoking
- No outside food or drink
- No weapons allowed
- Service animals only
I presume these people follow those rules without pitching a fit or marching on the capitol building. So why can't they wear a damn face mask for 15 minutes?
It irritates me because the same people who have been bitching for WEEKS about not being able to go do their business have been given the opportunity, and won't take it because of the face mask thing.

Re: Corona Virus: It's a Marathon, Not a Sprint
My sister has been living in Alaska the past few years working in either the fishing or tourism industry. Everything has collapsed in both fields there and her summer job prospects kept getting delayed and pushed back later and later. So she decided to move back to MI just to at least be able to live cheaper.
Money was one factor for coming back here but another big thing was her unique and terrifying living situation. The town she lived in had under 400 permanent residents and was only accessible via a tunnel through the mountain that was open about 12 hours a day. And it was a $13 toll through the mountain.
The terrifying part is that most of the 400 residents all live in a single apartment building. Everybody lives right on top and next to each other and is always indoors by 9:00 PM in a concentrated area. That is a pandemic tragedy just waiting to happen.

The video – described on the Plandemic website as a 25-minute vignette in advance of the movie’s release – features Mikovits, a former chronic fatigue researcher who sharply criticizes Dr. Anthony Fauci and mass vaccinations. She argues that the government’s response to coronavirus is designed to inflate profits at the risk of lives. Mikovits is a controversial researcher who was co-author of a discredited research study.
...
Snopes claims Mikovits appears on “unreliable websites,” and gives talks at “fringe conferences such as The Truth About Cancer and Autism One.” Concluded Snopes, “Mikovits’ speculative claims linking her research to vaccine science, drawing the ire of ‘Big Pharma’ and the ‘Deep State,’ and her subsequent arrest are not rooted in science or reality.”

When the vaccination surveys for hospitals and influenza came out ~10 years ago and you could see how many doctors and nurses that work F/T at hospitals and continuing care centers refused to vaccinate themselves, it was a real sobering moment for me in public health. If doctors and nurses can't be convinced of the importance, I'm supposed to convince the general public?Skinypupy wrote: Wed May 06, 2020 8:36 pmSame here, including heavy promotion from a couple of doctors in my neighborhood...which is depressing.

I never heard that...has anyone ever dug into why these doctors/nurses don't vaccinate? Also, what health system allows them to practice like that? I consulted at a major healthcare providers in the Carolinas and they made me run a massive gamut of vaccinations and titers. I was in a cybersecurity space that was nowhere near a medical facility. The closest I came to the hospital was a brief visit to the badge office at one facility. They marched us into a room to get flu vaccinations at the beginning of flu season. It wasn't optional.

After that survey came out (and others followed), initially states started to pass laws requiring it - which of course were shot down. After regrouping, the states said that a condition of a hospital to maintain it's license with the state, they needed to adopt vaccination policies for employees. Many states had a "get vaccinated or get fired" policy enacted, but some did allow for objectors to be switched into different areas unrelated to direct patient care. Nurses were fired over refusal to vaccinate, but it was upheld in courts. Came to a head here in NJ around 2015.
You can read up about the history of it here if you're so inclined.
As mentioned up-thread, I fully expect it to be an issue if (when, for those with hope) a vaccination for COVID-19 is developed.
